Chapter 49 ~The jealous game~
(Xander's POV)
I froze at the door. My brain was still trying to process the image I was seeing before me.
Why was Nova half-naked on my bed? Was I missing something here?
Her seductive look had shifted to impatience, maybe irritation. “Why do you look so fucking lost? Say something.”
I walked in slowly, trying not to slip on the watery floor. By now, all traces of sleep had vanished from my eyes.
I slammed the door shut to prevent anyone from walking in.
“I'm going to ask you this question, and I need an honest answer.” I crossed my arms. “What's your aim?... cause I'm pretty sure you have your own room.”
She scoffed. “My aim is for you to fuck me, Xander.”
I almost face-palmed myself. “Oh, so your basketball boyfriend isn't already doing that?”
“Not like you do.” She had a twinkle in her eyes when she said it.
I was just here trying to process if it was April fools' day.
Like, where were the fucking cameras?
“Well, if I remembered correctly, you were the one that cheated,” I pointed at her. “Not me.”
At this point, she stood up, still clad in pretty much nothing, and walked towards me in slow strides.
I looked away.
“Come on, Xander. I'm sorry for the way I spoke to you the other night.” She seized my arms. “You know I didn't mean it.”
I resisted a massive eye roll. “Apology accepted. Now, leave.”
A hurt look flashed across her face. “Xander, I know it might not seem true. But I still love you. Whole-heartedly. These past few days have been hell for me. I can't live without you.”
I kept my voice levelled. “Well, I don't love you.”
Not anymore. Actually, did I ever?
She laughed maniacally at this, withdrawing her hands like my body was made of hot coal.
“Keep it down!” I whisper-yelled through my teeth.
If someone came in and met us like this, honestly, there'd be no logical explanation as to why Nova was half-naked in my room.
“You think I give a fuck!” She shrieked.
Then she ran her palms along the air, in a way of calming herself down. “Listen, I get it, okay. I get that you're trying to punish me for cheating, make me jealous or whatever, but haven't I been hurt enough?”
“I'm sorry, what?” This girl is definitely deluded. “Me? Trying to make you jealous?”
“Xander, stop pretending. Come on, look at me and look at her. Nobody in their right senses will actually pick that thi… I mean, Fiona over me.”
I was actually waiting for her to call Fiona a thing, but alas, she was wise not to.
“So, you're better than Fiona, huh?” I arched my brows. “Genuinely, I want you to list five things that make you better than Fiona. Just five.”
Her gaze darted. “That's not the poi-”
“No, it is.” I cut her short. “I've heard you say you're better than her more times than I can count, and today, I'd like to know why?”
“Well, I'm hot,” she started.
I almost chuckled. “Continue.”
“and she's not. My father is an Alpha, while she's just a loser omega.”
“Your dad, being an Alpha, is his own achievement, not yours. And besides, Fiona already has me and I'm an Alpha.”
She rolled her eyes. “All the boys want me at school and no one wants her but you.”
“All I'm hearing is that you're cheap. Continue.”
“I dress better th… listen, this is stupid, Xander. Don't make me do this.”
I clenched my jaw. “You're right. It is stupid.”
I grabbed a towel from the hook and flung it at her. “So, cover up and get the fuck out of my room.”
She snatched the towel and tossed it back. “You know, I could scream and say that you were trying to rape me.”
This time, I actually chuckled. “Yeah, very believable. I dragged you from your room to mine, dressed you up in whatever ‘that’ is, and tried to force myself on you.”
“You know you've always been a dickhead. I know you'll come back begging.”
“Right, get out.”
“You kissed Dakota, yet you're here playing Mr. Righteous like you aren't bored of that red-haired skank. I'm so happy she was kidnapped.”
“Get out.”
“That's why you were kicked out from being Hockey Captain.”
“Ge-”
She screamed. “And before you tell me to get out one more time, remember that this is actually my pack, so I'm the one to kick your loser asses out.”
She opened the door and stormed out angrily.
‘Phew!’ I breathed out with relief. What a witch!
A figure passed by my door.
My eyes immediately met with Jackson's, who had not spoken to me since the day I almost beat him up.
He looked from me to the retracing figure of Nova. Then he shook his head and walked off.
Honestly, I wasn't about to explain shit.
–-----
It was dinnertime. And remember Arthur, Nova's boyfriend?
Yes. The one I beat the shit out of.
He was here.
Apparently, Nova invited him over for what I assumed was a bid to make me jealous.
He kept throwing wary glances my way since he got here and honestly, I wish I could calm his fears down. I wasn't a monster, and I definitely wasn't going to bloody him up again, not today at least.
“Babe, do you want more salmon?” Nova spooned up some food and fed Arthur.
“Oh, thanks baby.” He opened his mouth and munched on the food. “Very delicious, honey.”
“Thanks, my love. I made it.” She was glaring directly at me.
Calvin looked more confused than I felt.
If I was cringing, he was close to vomiting.
‘What the fuck is going on?’ Calvin mindlinked me.
‘I'm not sure, honestly.’ I shrugged.
Luna Jacqueline seemed to be enjoying the show. “Arthur, dear, tell us how fun it is being the basketball captain?”
“It's been…”
I literally blocked out his annoying voice as I spooned up some food on a plate.
Jackson seemed to be avoiding everyone's eye and was stabbing his food with a fork.
Calvin and I took a spoon of the food at the same time…
…And threw it out at the same time.
What the fuck did I just eat?
Calvin looked close to tears as he gulped down a glass of orange juice.
“And why are you two losers acting like the food is horrible?” Nova snapped.
“Because, it is.” I'm sure Calvin didn't even know when he blurted it out.
Luna Jacqueline glared at us both and then turned to Nova. “Leave them honey. I'm sure the food is delicious. Let me have a spoon.”
“Okay mom.” Nova gave her a plate, and she ate one spoon of the abomination.
Her face turned ashen immediately.
I and Calvin bursted out in laughter.
“Mom? How is it?” Nova asked.
My phone rang, pulling me away from the spectacle.
Sighing, I excused myself and went outside to take the call.
Dakota?
I picked. “Dakota, h-”
She sounded urgent. “Xander, where are you? There are cops in my room.”
