Chapter 110 Chapter 37.2
Chapter 110 Chapter 37.2
Desmond brought me inside his office. As soon as he locked the office door, he walked back to me and captured my lips in a deep kiss. I couldn't help but smile in between our kisses. I kissed him back, wrapped my arms around his neck, and savored every kiss he gave me.
When his kisses trailed down to my neck, I tilted my head back, giving him the freedom to do whatever he wanted.
“Desmond! Open this door! We need to talk!” We both froze when we heard Scarlett’s voice, followed by her continuous knocking on the door. Desmond let out a deep sigh, the irritation evident in his voice.
“Stay here,” he said to me before opening the door.
“What?! We have nothing left to talk about, Scarlett! Leave me alone, can you?!”
“No! I won't stop until I talk to the Chairman. You need to talk to my daddy too. You already agreed to our wedding, didn't you?! Why did you suddenly change your mind?! That new girl just flirted with you and you gave in right away? What about me? I've been by your side for so long, and now you're just going to leave me? You can't just cancel our wedding. Everything has already been decided, right? You said that whatever decision Chairman makes, you'll follow it! We need to talk to him first,” Scarlett said angrily before looking at me. I raised an eyebrow at her. Didn't she believe that Desmond and I were already married?
Maybe she'd only believe it if we showed her our marriage certificate.
“If you want to talk to the Chairman, then find him and ask him yourself. I don't have time for you anymore, Scarlett. I need to make it up to my wife. Now, leave.” Desmond was about to close the door, but Scarlett blocked it again. Didn't she know how to accept rejection? Was she really going to keep forcing herself on someone who didn't even love her?
“We need to talk, please. Let's talk to the Chairman first. You were the one who said that Chairman's decision is final. He's the only one who can decide whether our wedding will be canceled or not. Can't you see it? That woman is only after your money! She's just using you so she can climb to the top!” My eyebrow arched even higher after hearing what she said. She glared at me, so I smirked at her, making her even more annoyed. It wasn't my fault if she refused to believe everything we were telling her. She was only proving how desperate she had become. I could only shake my head. I simply sat down on the sofa and let Desmond and Scarlett talk.
“What’s going on here?” I heard the Chairman's voice, making me look toward the door once again.
“Chairman,” Scarlett said, sounding as though she was complaining the moment she saw him. I immediately stood up, and when our eyes met, I gave him a slight bow out of respect.
“Come in, Scarlett. Let's all talk,” the Chairman said authoritatively. Desmond opened the door wider. Chairman and Scarlett walked inside.
Desmond sat beside me while Scarlett and the Chairman took the sofa across from us.
“What exactly is going on here? What's all this commotion?” the Chairman calmly asked Desmond.
“I’m sorry, Chairman. I was trying to fix this, but—”
“He wants to cancel our wedding. Chairman, both our families already agreed to this arrangement. Desmond himself said in front of all of us that your decision would be final. And now he wants to cancel the wedding because of that woman,” she said angrily, pointing at me. The Chairman remained calm. There was no fear left in my heart because I had already spoken with him. He didn't want Desmond and me to separate because of our child. If Desmond and I hadn't had a child together, I wasn't sure whether the Chairman would still want me to be part of their family, especially when business had always been more important to him.
“Do we really have to go through this again, Scarlett? I already spoke to you properly earlier. Why did you still have to go to Heaven's office and even hurt her?” Desmond replied irritably. The Chairman quietly listened to both of them. I also remained silent because I had nothing to say.
“Both of you, that's enough. Scarlett, dear, I'm sorry, but the wedding your father wants between you and Desmond is no longer happening. Desmond can't marry you because he's still legally married to Heaven. I can't force them to file for a divorce just so Desmond can marry you,” the Chairman said directly to Scarlett. The shock was obvious in Scarlett's eyes. It seemed she still couldn't believe that Desmond and I were already married.
“But Chairman, didn't you already agree to this wedding? You said it wasn't a problem,” Scarlett said, sounding as though she was about to cry. I couldn't really blame her, especially since she loved Desmond. She truly believed they were going to get married. I shot Desmond an annoyed look. If he hadn't told everyone back then that he would simply follow whatever decision the Chairman made, Scarlett wouldn't have believed that their wedding was actually going to happen.
“I did say that, dear. But I also said there wouldn't be any problem if both of you agreed to it. If Desmond has taken back his decision to marry you, then there's nothing I can do. I also said there wouldn't be any problem if Desmond and Heaven still wanted to annul their marriage. Their relationship wasn't doing well, so they decided to file for a divorce. But now that they want to fix their relationship, there's nothing I can do about it. He can't marry you because he is still married to Heaven. I'll personally talk to your father and explain everything to him. I'm really sorry, dear,” the Chairman said apologetically. Scarlett could no longer hold back her tears.
She didn't say another word because she quickly ran out of Desmond's office. Desmond and I simply stayed silent.
I lowered my head slightly when the Chairman looked at us.
“The two of you, make sure you fix your relationship. If I ever find out again that you want to annul your marriage, you'll have to marry the daughter of one of my business partners, Desmond.”
“Yes, Chairman,” Desmond immediately answered. The Chairman simply let out a sigh before standing up. Desmond and I stood as well, remaining silent until the Chairman walked out of the office.
“This is all your fault. If you hadn't told everyone back then that you'd just follow whatever decision Chairman made, none of this would've happened,” I blamed Desmond. He simply scratched the back of his head.
“You wouldn't have become mine again if I hadn't done that. Besides, it's not really my fault that Scarlett got her hopes up, right?” I could only shake my head at him.
“I’m going back to my office. There's nothing I can do if I just stay here,” I said, about to leave, when Desmond hugged me from behind.
“Let's work later,” he said sweetly before turning me around and claiming my lips in another deep kiss.
