Chapter 21: THE OFFER

THE OFFER

Camilla's eyes widened in shock as she stared at Samantha, her voice trembling with surprise.

"Samantha, is this really you?" she asked, her eyes scanning Samantha's transformed appearance.

Samantha, once a humble colleague and friend, now exuded an aura of celebrity glamour.

She was surrounded by two burly bodyguards, who stood watchfully by her side, their eyes scanning the surroundings with a mixture of caution.

Samantha herself looked stunning, her skin glowing with a radiant, sun-kissed complexion.

Her long, curly hair cascaded down her back like a golden waterfall, and her bright, sparkling eyes seemed to dance with joy.

She was dressed in a sleek, designer outfit that accentuated her curves, and her fingers were adorned with glittering, diamond-encrusted rings.

Camilla couldn't believe the transformation.

Samantha looked like a completely different person, one who had stepped out of the pages of a glossy fashion magazine.

Samantha smiled warmly, her eyes crinkling at the corners.

"Yes, it's me," she said, her voice husky and confident. "I've missed you, Camilla. You've grown so fat. You look amazing."

Camilla blushed, feeling a little self-conscious about her own appearance.

"You've aged so much, Samantha," she said, trying to keep up with Samantha's banter.

Samantha laughed, a throaty, seductive sound.

"Let's go into the mall, so we can talk better," she suggested, nodding to her bodyguards.

The two women walked into the mall, surrounded by Samantha's entourage.

They settled down at a cosy café, where Samantha ordered a selection of sandwiches and drinks.

As they sat down, Camilla couldn't help but feel a little intimidated by Samantha's glamorous lifestyle.

But Samantha quickly put her at ease, launching into a warm and lively conversation that made Camilla feel like they were old friends again.

A few minutes later, the waitress arrived with the requested food and drinks, and the table in front of Samantha and Camilla was soon filled with an assortment of sandwiches, drinks, chicken wings, chicken livers, and various spices.

Samantha smiled as she began to serve herself.

"So, Camilla, I'm glad we could catch up. I always come here to eat or order takeout. The food is amazing."

Camilla's eyes widened as she took in the spread before her.

"Wow, Samantha, you're certainly living the high life. I'm a little jealous," she said with a laugh.

As they began to eat, Camilla's gaze drifted to the two bodyguards standing discreetly behind Samantha.

"Samantha, I have to ask," Camilla said, her curiosity getting the better of her. "Why do you have bodyguards following you everywhere?"

Samantha's expression turned serious for a moment before she smiled again.

"No problem, Camilla. It's just a precaution. As you know, I've become quite prominent in my field, and there are some people who might not have my best interests at heart. The bodyguards are just a necessary measure to ensure my safety."

Camilla nodded understandingly, though she couldn't help but feel a little concerned for her friend's well-being.

“So how about your career? You know we've always wished to become an actress back in college; I hope you're walking towards it,” Samantha asked, taking a bite of the sandwich in the process.

But then Camilla dropped the cutlery she was using to eat and sighed heavily.

Samantha noticed her change in habit, and then she decided to ask what the problem was.

“Is everything okay?” Samantha asked, her eyes locked onto Camilla.

“I couldn't even move into any entertainment industry after I graduated,” Camilla replied, her eyes locked onto the ground.

“What happened? I know you love to become a popular actress, Samantha said.

“It's a long story, dear; I don't want to talk about it,” Camilla replied coldly.

“Is it because you want to take over your parents' companies? I know your mom and dad have a lot of companies here in New York, but you can combine your career with it,” Samantha said, trying her best to reassure Camilla.

“That's not the problem; like I said earlier, it's a very long story, and I think once we meet again, I will explain everything to you,” Camilla replied.

“No problem about that, but come on, smile; you don't have to frown, baby girl,” Samantha said.

A small smile played on Camilla's lips just as Samantha finished her statement.

“You haven't changed, Samantha; you're still that funny type," Camilla replied.

“I know, right?" Samantha said.

“What are you doing in America? I thought you were based in Spain,” Camilla replied.

“Oh, the entertainment industry I work for moved to America one month, so I had no choice but to relocate back here,” Samantha explained.

“Oh, I think fate wants to bring us together, because there's a lot of states in America, and you decided to move to New York. Wow,” Camilla said happily.

“Yeah, it's so nice meeting with you again, dearie,” Samantha replied.

“Same here, homie.” Camilla said

“I think I am full," she added.

“Really? Come on, eat more," Samantha urged.

“No, I don't want to spend decades in the toilet when I arrive back home,” Camilla said.

The two friends burst into laughter, their laughter echoing around the restaurant.

“You're still not a serious girl,” Samantha teased.

“You know I have never been serious around you," Camilla said.

“I have good news and an offer for you, homie,” Samantha replied.

“Good news? Offer? What's it all about?" Camilla asked.

“Here, go through it now,” Samantha replied, handing a letter to Camilla.

Camilla opened the letter, her eyes scanning the pages.

After a moment of silence between the two girls, Camilla broke the silence.

“Your entertainment industry is having a competition?” Camilla muttered, her eyes never leaving the letter.

“Yep,” Samantha said.

“It’s a competition that will be taking place on the first day of next month. We would be choosing the person that has the highest vote. I think you should register your name and join the competition,” Samantha added.

“It's just two weeks until the competition; do you think I would…” Camilla replied before she got interrupted.

“Where's Camilla I know? In the past, you were also bold enough to take any step, and besides, I want the both of us to become stars in the entertainment industry,” Samantha said.

“But there's a problem: I have an aim, and I don't want any distraction,” Camilla replied.

“An aim? What is it all about?” Samantha asked.

“Getting all the companies that belong to my parents," Camilla replied.

“Huh?” Samantha said.
