Chapter 17 MAKE ME PREGNANT
Chapter 17 MAKE ME PREGNANT
Atarah Klyte
I stared blankly at my cup, absentmindedly stirring the coffee I had just made. I still couldn't move on from what happened yesterday. The audacity of him—Rare was such an asshole.
I wasn't pregnant, and yet he still managed to ruin my chance at being happy. Damn him. He was nothing but a tease.
What I couldn't understand was this—he used protection, he knew I wasn't pregnant... so why was he acting like he was chasing after some imaginary baby? Why was he suddenly so caring toward me? I wasn't assuming anything—but it was real. I felt it.
Was he playing with me? Does He know at the first place that I'm his EX's girlfriend sister.
He even had the nerve to say things like "this isn't the right time, baby," as if there would ever be a next time. As if I'd still want him to get me pregnant. Well, he was dead wrong. The nerve of that man. He wasted the chances I gave him. Fine—I'll just find another sperm donor.
He was useless anyway. He got what he wanted from my body and gave nothing in return. If he couldn't give me what I wanted, then I'd find someone else. Someone better. Someone hotter. Someone who doesn't give false hope.
And definitely someone who wasn't my sister's ex—and someone I would never cross paths with again.
Ting!
The sudden sound of the oven toaster pulled me back to reality. I sighed, grabbed a plate, and placed the bread on it.
I was having breakfast alone. Rare had already left last night—well, I made sure of that. My mood had been terrible because of him.
Once the bread was ready, I spread Nutella over it and started eating, dipping each bite before taking a sip of my coffee.
After breakfast, I went to the living room to finish getting ready. I had duty today—I couldn't afford to be absent again. Too many people depended on me.
Fully dressed, I was just doing some final touch-ups when I noticed something on the floor beside the couch—a man's wallet. I raised an eyebrow. No one else had been here except Rare.
A slow smile crept onto my lips as I picked it up.
"Wow... Louis Vuitton. Impressive taste," I muttered, examining it. "Let's see what's inside."
Of course, I had no intention of stealing anything. I'd return it exactly as it was. I was just... curious. Especially since it belonged to a world-renowned surgeon.
Carefully, I opened it. Cards—lots of them. Then cash. I pulled it out and counted.
"Twenty-two... twenty-three... twenty-seven thousand six hundred."
Not bad.
Still unsatisfied, I rummaged further—and then froze when I saw it.
A strawberry-flavored condom.
"Yuck!"
I'm f-cking allergic to condom now! I bet He used strawberry flavor to me too! I instinctively threw the wallet across the room.
Wow. As if I'd never seen one before. Acting all innocent now, huh?
I scratched my cheek awkwardly before picking it up again. As I did, something slipped out—a photograph and a necklace.
I examined the photo.
It was my sister, Akisha, smiling brightly at a scenic view. I flipped it over.
"I love you, beb."
"What the hell?" I burst out laughing. "That nickname is so cringe. Beb~ seriously?"
Then I looked at the necklace—a gold chain with a small pendant shaped like the letter.
"Well, well... looks like Rare is still in love with my sister," I mused. "Pathetic."
But interesting.
Fate really had a twisted sense of humor. Out of everyone in the world, I ended up having a one-night stand with my sister's ex—who was now somehow connected to my family again.
I tucked the photo and necklace into my own wallet.
Something told me these would be useful later.
If he was playing me, then I'd play him right back.
He picked the wrong girl.
___
BY THE TIME I arrived at the hospital, my best friend, Doc Kristan, immediately came up to greet me.
"Hey, are you feeling better now? I heard you weren't well. Do you want me to examine you? We can run some laboratory tests."
I smiled. He looked so genuinely concerned—it was adorable.
"I'm fine."
"Come to my office. I'll check you."
"Relax, Tan. I'm okay," I laughed, patting his back.
He scratched his head awkwardly. "Sorry I couldn't visit yesterday. I had surgery."
"It's fine. You're not obligated to check on me."
"I'll walk you to the locker."
"Sure."
He slung an arm over my shoulder as we walked. He had always been clingy—I was used to it.
"Lunch later? Together?"
Before I could respond, he flicked my nose.
"Ow!"
He laughed. "You're so cute, baby."
"Annoying!"
I was about to retaliate when someone cleared their throat.
We turned—and there was Rare.
"Oh, hey Doc Rare, Good morning.." Kristan greeted casually.
Rare smirked, then looked straight at me. "Good morning, Doc. But Nurse Atarah. Come to my office. We need to talk."
I raised a brow at him. The nerve. I glanced at Kristan, carefully watching his reaction—I didn't want him to find out what had happened between us. I didn't want anyone here to know that I was connected to Rare.
He looked confused when Rare suddenly asked me to go to his office.
"Sorry, Doc. I need to check on something.. Let's go, Kristan." I quickly pulled Kristan away from there. I knew it was so obvious, but whatever—I'd just come up with an excuse later.
"What was that?" Kristan asked.
"Nothing."
"What if it's important?"
"It's not," I dismissed. "He's probably just asking about my sister. He's her ex—still obsessed, I guess."
