Chapter 84: Back together

The air was awkward as William drove me back that morning.

As the car sped past the bumpy road, we both didn't say a word to each other. My eyes were fixed outside the car window, my cheeks red with embarrassment.

Last night, we didn't have sex.

Thank God.

I did so badly want to be touched by him, but my mind kept drifting back to Salvatore.

So I told him to stop.

My eyes moved to William. He wiped his face with his hand and placed it back on the wheel. "Look, I'm sorry about last night."

"I asked you not to bring it up," I quickly said.

He sighed. "I went over the line..."

"No, I know you didn't mean it."

"No, I did," he shook his head. "I like you, Lyra. I want you. I'm apologizing for not waiting for you to get over Salvatore before I did that," he said. "I'm sorry. I'll wait."

"You'll... wait?"

He looked at me and quickly looked away again, his eyes fixed on the road. "Yes. I don't give up on the things I want."

I leaned back into my seat and didn't speak a word.

Soon after I arrived home, he tried to get down from the car to walk me toward the building, but I quickly stopped him. "Don't. I'll call you," I said and stepped out of the car.

I didn't glance back as I walked home, but I could feel him staring at me. As I walked into the house, I headed straight for my bedroom, but I heard Salvatore's voice.

"Are you staying, William?"

I turned to face him. Why did he care?

"Like you are dating Mia?" I asked. Even though I knew the answer was yes, I still prayed he wouldn't say it.

"Mia..." He walked closer.

I took a step back. He was dressed in a red robe, and his hair was neatly seated on his forehead. His grey eyes scanned me.

"Are you scared of me?"

I shook my head.

"Then stop moving away."

He walked close to me and stood before me.

"Why did you stay over at William's?" His eyes pinched together, darkening with sadness. I could see tears forming in his eyes. "You know that would hurt me," his voice cracked.

"Not everything is about you, Salvatore."

He grabbed both sides of my arms and pushed me against the wall.

"Salvatore," I scolded.

"Did he touch you?" he asked.

"We aren't dating anymore. I don't see how that concerns you."

His head tilted to the side. "Lyra, look. I know I messed up. I was heartbroken, and I wasn't thinking straight," he pleaded. "I want you back."

Tears clouded my eyes. What William and I did last night flooded my mind. I tried to step back, but my back was already pressed against the wall behind me.

"Salvatore..."

He cupped my face and instantly kissed me, pushing himself against me.

"My mom could see," I struggled to say.

He shook his head. "No, nobody's home. Just focus on me... on us." His nose rubbed against mine.

"William kissed me last night," I blurted.

His eyes searched mine, but he didn't say a word. He gulped before he finally spoke.

"Did you like it?"

I shook my head. "No."

He nodded. "Good."

"There's something else," I said. "We... I..."

He stroked both sides of my face with his thumbs.

"It's okay. You can talk to me. Did you sleep with him?"

"No, but I almost did."

"He touched you?"

I nodded.

His eyes rolled. "Fuck," he mumbled. "Where?"

"Do you have to know that?" I asked.

"Where, Lyra?" he insisted.

"My... thighs... and... down there," I said.

His jaw tightened. He pulled away from me and paced backward.

"I can't believe this."

I wanted to apologize, but did I have to? We weren't dating, right?

I turned away to walk off, but I heard loud footsteps. I turned, and he instantly grabbed my hand and began to pull me toward his bedroom.

We walked into his bedroom, and he placed me on the bed, instantly kneeling before me.

"I love you, Lyra. I don't want to end this. Please," he begged desperately.

"I don't want to lose this as well, but Mia..."

"She's not important," he said. "William shouldn't be either."

I wiped the tears off my cheeks.

"Are we over? It feels like we are."

He stood up and sat beside me. I turned to face him.

"I don't care about what you did with William. All I care about is the both of us. I want you. I want to fix things."

My eyes scanned his face. I could see his genuineness. I shouldn't have gotten drunk with William.

"Please do," I choked.

He leaned in and kissed me. I instantly kissed him back and pushed myself into him.

"Are we dating again?" he asked.

"Yeah," I said against his lips.

He pushed me against himself and dug his fingers into the back of my hair.

"I love you," he said, his lips moving to my neck.

"I love you too."

As we kissed, I could feel myself getting wet. I pushed myself tighter against him.

"I want you," I whispered.

He gave me a puzzled look.

"After what happened last time, when I released my semen into you, I assumed you'd never want to do it again," he said.

"Well... I'm... I..."

He smirked.

"I can handle that. Take off your clothes."
