Chapter 66: Going out
Salvatore’s POV
I stood beneath the shower head in my bathroom and let the water flow down my back.
Raking my fingers through my hair, I pushed it back and wiped my face.
I still couldn't get my mind off Dad's wedding.
My fist clenched against the tiled wall.
How could he do that to me? How could he do that to Mom?
I turned off the shower head and pressed both fists against the wall. My blood was boiling with rage, so much I couldn't contain it.
I hated him.
With every fibre of my being.
As my chest heaved, the bedroom door suddenly pulled open.
As if a spell had been cast, all the rage within me emptied instantly. I knew it was Lyra. Her presence always seemed to calm me.
I heard footsteps walk towards the bathroom and a smile tugged at my lips. “You couldn't wait to see me?”
My smile fell instantly as Mia's head popped up through the door, a smile playing on her lips.
“Fuck! Mia, what is wrong with you?” I quickly grabbed a towel from the rack and wrapped it around my waist.
“What are you doing here?”
Her head tilted to the side. “Were you expecting somebody else?”
I said nothing.
I watched her eyes move down my chest. She was basically undressing me with her eyes.
“Don't come in here without knocking next time,” I spat.
She adjusted her shirt. It was a tank top. I squinted and sighed. Her nipples were sticking out of it. She obviously didn't have a bra on. Did she do it on purpose?
“Why are you here?”
“I want us to go out later… to a club.”
I raised an eyebrow. “Have you ever been to one?”
She nodded.
I wrapped the towel tighter around my waist and stepped out of the bathroom. “Why a club?”
“For partying, of course. I want you to come.” She smiled. There was something in her eyes, something I couldn't quite place. “Also… we can hang out at a hotel later. What do you think?”
I suddenly realized she was trying to spend time alone with me.
It was somewhat pathetic.
I couldn't have any other in my heart. If it wasn't Lyra, it was nobody. But a club would be nice, I guess.
“Sure.”
Her eyes widened. “You agree? You really agree?”
I shrugged. “Why not?”
She clasped her hands. Moving towards me, she wrapped her arms around me and pushed herself against me for a hug. “Thank you.”
I pulled her away. “Sure.”
I walked to the door and twisted the door knob. As I opened it, I gestured for her to leave. “I need to dress up.”
She wore a disappointed expression on her face as she slowly walked out. As I shut the door, I walked towards the bed and grabbed my phone. I dialled Lyra's number. She answered immediately it rang.
“Yes?”
“Wanna go clubbing?”
“Salvatore… are you sure? I think Mia's trying to get close to you.”
I sat on the bed. “So? She can try. I'll have my eyes on you.”
She was silent for a few seconds. “Alright.”
“Wear something sexy.”
She chuckled. “Sexy?”
“Short skirt…” I placed my back on the bed. “A revealing shirt… heels.” I felt myself harden as I spoke.
“That's too much. Besides, the guys would be there as well. What would they say if a maid overdressed?”
Oh… sometimes I forget she was a maid.
“Pack it then. Put the clothes in your bag. I want you to wear it tonight.”
“Salvatore…”
“Please?”
She sighed. “I'll think about it.”
“Promise to get drunk?”
“Drunk?” she repeated.
“I just want to see you in that state.”
Later that night, I dressed up in a pair of blue jeans and a black T-shirt.
I picked one of Mom's old gold watches and wrapped it around my wrist.
“Salvatore! Come on!” Jackson shouted from downstairs.
I walked towards the door and stepped out. Downstairs, I saw Lyra dressed in one of the black overcoats I got her back in London. It covered her to the tip of her toes. I could see her heels underneath.
I clenched my fists. I so badly wanted her to dress as I asked.
I tried to hold my smile as she looked at me. I bowed my head and walked downstairs.
“We are using my car,” Jackson winked at me as we began to head out.
Lyra walked in front of me, her bag clutched to her side, as we stepped out of the building.
Jackson walked to the front door and pulled it open. With a smile on his face, he ushered her in.
Lyra turned to look at me.
“Awwwn, don't tell me you need your master's permission to get into the car,” Mia mocked, her arm wrapping around mine.
Lyra walked towards the car and sat in front.
Jackson wore a look of victory on his face as he slammed the door shut.
“Can we leave now?” Mia looked up at me.
My eyes were fixed on Lyra. “I'm not getting in the back of my cousin's car when I have mine.” I pushed and pulled Mia away from me.
“Lyra, get down from there.”
“What's the point?” Mia cut in. “We'll get in with you. Jackson can drive her.”
I ignored her. “Lyra? Down.”
She reached for the door handle, but Jackson quickly stepped forward and shut the door close. “You know… one would think you were obsessed with your maid,” he raised his brow at me.
I looked at the girls who were waiting for me to speak.
Without another word, I moved to my car and got in. Mia quickly followed and sat beside me.
The girls moved to Mia's car.
And just like that, we began to drive for the club.
I hated that Mia sat where Lyra should be. God, was Jackson right? Was I really obsessed with her?
“What do you think of my hair?” Mia asked.
I looked at her. I hadn't realized she had curled her hair. I looked down at her clothes. She wore a black dress so tight it revealed all her curves. The top was a corset that pushed her breasts up.
Her eyes smiled at me.
I shook my head and looked away. “It's okay.” I was blunt.
“Do you like my outfit?”
I sighed, my eyes fixed on Jackson's car a
as it sped past us.
“Yeah, it looks good.”
She placed her hand on my thigh. “Really?”
She's flirting with me.
This was about to be a long night.
A really long night.
