Chapter 158 Dominion
Normally the Aura wasn't a common phrase nor was it a widely known concept but they were currently seated in a room filled with reporters and researchers. All of them were exquisitely trained to gather evidence and reports so Beatrice had made the risk that at least one or two of them would have heard about it. But as it would seem they all have.
Melissa felt a little annoyed and stupid at the moment if she had never met Margaret she would never know about her own ability. She laid back and allowed the crowd to take it in. She used her aura and decided to touch all their emotions. Most of the reporters exuded a feeling of awe and fear but from the council members all she felt was surprise and fear.
Alina herself was a bag of emotions, she was surprised and afraid but more so she was determined. Melissa knew that in the end it was Alina Ronald and Catherine that were her greatest foes. They were the ones who murdered her parents, turned her into a puppet before finally ending her life. They took everything from her and she was hereford vengeance even though a lot was happening and she wasn't letting her lust for vengeance drive her. She kept that part of her locked somewhere within her.
“Little One," she heard her wolf call from within her.
“Lena?" She replied.
“Revealing who you are without consulting me first is kind of offensive and derogatory to be honest,” she said.
Melissa sighed. Lena has been doing this randomly for a while now, chipping in jokes here and there, trying her best to be annoying. She was indeed annoying but Melissa didn't find it annoying at all. There was a point in her life where she would do anything just to hear her wolf speak again. She knew how empty and incomplete she felt. That feeling wasn't one she wanted to ever feel again.
“Excuse me your majesty, “ one of the reporters stood up. " Can you prove it? The narrative of video tape can be easily twisted, however what one has seen never leaves one's mind,” she said.
Melissa looked at the entire crowd and she felt some of them calm down, they were all anticipating what she'd do. But she'd been taking too many lessons on arrogance from Beatrice so instead of shattering their hope immediately, she opted to play the long card.
“So does that mean I am a liar!?" She asked with a clear glance.
The reporter shuddered. “What is your name, young woman? “ She asked with a smile.
“Ann, your majesty,” she bowed as she spoke. "Anne Arundel."
“Good, Ann here would like me to prove myself to her, I am your ruler and I wouldn't in any form of disrespect, my words are final. While I do understand the freedom of the press, I do not appreciate its overbearing sense of self importance,” she said, convincing herself with the bunch of out of character nonsense she just said.
She heard Beateice's little giggle while she kept a straight face trying not to explode. " What the hell was that? Richard asked her telepathically and even she almost burst into laughter. But she could now sense the triumph among the crowd, as silly as what she had done was it had led to the desired results. She smiled, as she had expected they all thought she was lying. Even the reporter who had asked the question now had a coy smile of triumph on her face.
Melissa remembered one of those books she'd read as a kid. One of them was called the Art of War by a human named Sun Tzu. He'd taught that war was the art of deception and right now she felt like some evil villain.
“Although," one of the council stood up and started to speak, her name was Mya. Melissa nodded in her direction as she already knew the summary of her speech. “Her Majesty is right and such actions would not be tolerated, especially with all that's been happening and her coronation drawing nearer. Her Majesty should however try to quell the emotions of those who might doubt her might and indeed show them that they are merely doubters," Mya bowed with a smile.
Melissa exhaled. “ A Luna or an Alpha is nothing without their council and I would indeed heed the word of my council member. A little warning however, I will not be held accountable for any mental injuries you might sustain,” she warned.
Everyone went silent, as doubts rose and fell in their hearts, Melissa remain silent allowing the anticipation to build, the suspense forming a hue of cloud so thick she could feel it when she breathe. She then closed her eyes flaring her entire aura at the entire hall. To every other person they didn't notice anything, but to q slightly perceptive person, they would be able to see a shimmering aura whirling like a sea above them.
Melissa dragged it down and she yelled the words. “KNEEL!” It sounded more like a roar than a yell anyways. As she did everyone in the hall fell to their knees, including the council. The only ones standing were the members of her court, Hance’s people and the kids who had followed their parents as guests. Everyone else was on the floor with fear riddling them.
“I guess there are no more doubts,” she said and then laid her back on the chair in a relaxed manner. Everyone scrambled back to their chairs with difficulty.
She watched all of them get up and was a little amused until someone knocked on the door to the interview flipped open the door and then came to whisper something to Richard. The demon wolf nodded and then turned to Melissa. “ He is here,” he said.
Melissa smiled and nodded, she picked up her purse and signaled to the others as they walked out of the report room waving at the crowd.
