Chapter 10: The price of Trust
Almost an hour had passed, rummaging through more than half of the dump, but the two couldn't find anything.
Uri wiped his sweat, and was about to change to another place, when Alex said: "Let's go back."
"Huh? We haven't found it yet!?" Uri looked at the small piles of trash behind and spoke up.
"It's useless. We can't find it."
"Why... Why do you think so?"
Alex took off his gloves and threw them in the dump. Perhaps his speculation was wrong. He seemed to have overestimated Neil Royce's intelligence.
"Didn't you say the necklace fell here?"
Alex faintly replied: "It's just speculation. I seem to have overestimated your friend. Maybe your friend hasn't been there yet. The necklace may have been lost before, while your friend struggles with someone. If he really had come here and intentionally left the necklace behind, we should have found it soon. It hasn't rained these days, the necklace won't drift too far. We've found more than half of the dump, but we can't find it. No one would go in the amid of a landfill in the middle of the night... unless he knew..."
Alex suddenly stopped talking there, his expression quickly changed, and then coldly spit out two words: "Damn it!"
He missed this possibility.
Uri heard him swear, and couldn't help but be startled: "What? What's wrong?"
"Keep looking." Alex looked at him and said, then turned and walked towards the car.
????
Uri looked at him bewildered, a big question mark appeared on his head.
Soon Alex was back, a new pair of gloves in his hand.
Uri thought about where he was going and turned out to go get the gloves.
" Will we continue searching?" Uri looked at him and asked softly.
Alex nodded, jerking his chin toward the small piles of trash, "You go over there."
Uri, although feeling puzzled by his sudden decision, obediently nodded, quickly moving to the pile of garbage behind.
The two continued to search. Almost an hour passed, the two almost rummaged through the dump but still couldn't find what they were looking for.
Uri looked back at the pile of trash left in front of him, then back at the pile of trash behind him, feeling a little dizzy. Has the necklace really fallen into a landfill?
Uri was depressed by this thought of his, feeling that he had no spirit at all.
What are the two of them doing?
In fact, it was just Alex's guess, there was no evidence that what he said was true.
In Uri's lap, there was a glimmer of doubt, but seeing Alex still searching, he bowed his head to continue.
All right, I'll trust you, Alex Dominic!
It is almost 3 p. m, the sky is cloudy and suddenly sunny, the weak sun slowly shines down on the ground. Suddenly, something flashed in front of Uri, causing him to narrow his eyes. He was startled for a moment, his heart fluttering in his chest, then immediately rushed forward, trying to dig.
Very quickly, the surrounding garbage disappeared, and a necklace appeared on the ground. Just by looking at it, Uri immediately recognized it as Neil's necklace!
Uri hurriedly removed the glove, picked it up, then turned his head, raised the ring in the air, exclaiming with joy: "Alex! Alex! I found it! Neil's necklace! I found it!"
Apparently, because he was so happy, Uri did not notice that he called Alex's name directly.
Alex didn't seem too concerned about this, quickly approaching, looking at the necklace for a moment and then nodding: "That's it!"
"That's right! That's it, I have one too!" Uri touched his neck, was about to take out his necklace to show him, but suddenly remembered that he was wearing a scarf and shyly dropped his hand, "Uhm... I'm not very convenient..."
Alex put on a face like wanting to say "I don't want to see it and I don't care what your necklace is like", looking at Uri.
Uri was a little embarrassed, his face turned red, slightly coughed: "Why did it fall here?" He said and looked around, "I found it near the end of the dump. Assuming Neil came that day, the trash hasn't been dumped that much, but three days won't come this much, right? Ah, that's right, just now you said unless he did?"
Alex was silent, didn't answer.
Uri looked at him, a thought flashed through his mind. He almost forgot what the reason was he asked for Alex's help?! Isn't it because of Vampires? Uri swallowed, his face a little pale, his voice trembling slightly: "You... you... tell... My friend... is he still alive?"
"I don't know, come back first " Alex took off his gloves, emotionless in response.
Uri pursed his lips and nodded, clutching the bracelet in her hand, and followed Alex back to the car.
Buried in the dump for nearly two hours, both of them were more or less haunted by the stink. Alex took out a handkerchief from his pocket, wiped his hands, then took off his jacket directly, throwing it in a large trash can nearby.
"...."
Uri looked at the Hugo Boss vest being mercilessly thrown into the trash, his heart filled with regret. God, Alex throwing his two months' salary in the trash?!
After regretting it, Uri smelled his body. His eyebrows immediately furrowed. Definitely the smell is so disgusting!
He quickly took off his outer jacket, leaned into the car to get his backpack, and then from the inside took out a small pale yellow vase, and sprayed it on himself.
The smell is diminishing now.
Alex silently looked at this action of his.
Uri smiled at him, "The stink is too strong, I'm afraid you're uncomfortable."
Alex showed no emotion, opened the door, and got in the car.
Uri: "...."
"Get in the car!" Alex lowered the mirror and said coldly.
"Uhm! O... okay..."
Uri quickly put his jacket in his backpack and then got into the car.
