The Sinclair Villa was waslocated in Haereth's Sunset Heights Estates, which was was known as the city's most affluent neighborhood. Despite its obvious allure for exploitation, the villa boasted an impressive 80% greenery. It boasted an artificial lake, were meticulously crafted gardens, and expensive rockeries, were all adding to its opulence.
Former special forces personnel guarded the villa, ensuring that only those with verified property qualifications could view or edpurchase homes in this prestigious enclave. Itwas where the cream of Haereth's society congregated, making it a private club for the city's elite families.
Olivia was familiar with this upscale neighborhood, and Paul had once desired to own a home here. To them, living in such a location would entail rubbing shoulders with the city's elite, a coveted status they wished to achieve.
The convoy passed through the villa area's gates without incident, traversing the manicured lawns before coming to a halt in front of a four-story mansion. Alexander and Olivia stepped out of the car, while Ian remained seated, understanding the etiquette of not intruding on family reunions.
With a wave of his hand, Alexander directed the convoy to continue, leading twelve luxury cars deeper into the villa estate. "The Whitman Villa is right ahead. "I'll give you a formal tour later," he told Olivia as they made their way inside.
The European-style mansion exuded luxury and grandeur, and its elaborate gardens added to its beauty. As they strolled through the garden and entered the villa's front door, Olivia came face to face with the Sinclairs, whom Alexander had briefly introduced during their journey.
The Sinclairs were one of Haereth's four major families, which confirmed Olivia's suspicions. Led by Kenneth Sinclair, the eldest son who had taken over the Sinclair Group from his retired father Percival, the family consisted of three sons and one daughter, each with their own family. Olivia's uncle George, a former renowned singer, had entered the entertainment industry and established a significant presence for himself.
Olivia's other uncle, Ethan Sinclair, was a vice president at the Sinclair Group, where he oversaw several key industries. Walter Sinclair, Olivia's aunt, was also notable. She had built an internationally recognized brand on her own and wielded significant influence in the fashion industry. Olivia's peers in the Sinclair family were all boys, with the exception of Megan Turner, George's youngest daughter. Megan was Rachel Sinclair's foster child and lived with the Sinclair family.
Olivia and Alexander entered the room, and it was clear that the majority of the Sinclair family had gathered. All eyes turned to them, ranging from suspicion to curiosity, disdain to subtle dissatisfaction. "Grandfather," Alexander said casually, stepping forward with confident strides toward the elderly man seated in the center of the sofa. "This is Olivia." He made a gesture toward Olivia and introduced her to the assembled relatives. "Olivia, meet Grandfather."
Olivia observed the elderly man, who was adept at deciphering people's intentions. Despite the warmth in his eyes, he maintained an upright posture, with sharply defined features and an assertive gaze. He exuded authority and was accustomed to issuing commands. "Grandfather," Olivia nodded, recognizing his demeanor.
The old man returned her nod with a friendly smile. "Good, it's good that you're back," he smiled. "From now on, you are the young Miss of the Sinclair family. Nobody can disrespect you." Alexander then introduced the man seated beside Percival, "This is our dad."
Olivia focused her gaze on Kenneth after Alexander made the gesture. Kenneth had a colder, more composed demeanor than Percival. Even in his profile, Olivia could see traces of the attractive features he had in his youth. Time had etched fine lines across his face, giving him a mature and charismatic appearance.
"Dad," Olivia addressed him quietly, noting Kenneth's subtle reaction to her voice. His expression remained stoic as he gazed at her, eventually responding with a deep "Hmm."
Alexander then introduced Olivia to the other elders of the Sinclair family one by one. Olivia quietly looked around. Aside from her grandmother, who lived in a nursing home, and another cousin, nearly all of the Sinclair family present. The gathering had a sense of significance.
However, her mother was noticeably absent from the gathering. According to Alexander, she tragically vanished while attempting to locate Olivia's kidnapper, eventually disappearing into the sea with no trace of her body.
Olivia's aunt, Lauren Phillips, noticed her quiet demeanor and approached her, gently linking arms and expressing affection. "Olivia, you must be exhausted after your journey back. I've already prepared your room. Take a look and let me know if there is anything you want to change."
Percival, the patriarch, took a traditional approach to family matters, advocating for unity among the Sinclairs. Except for Walter, who had already married, the rest of the family lived together in the mansion.
Lauren, around forty years old, meticulously maintained her appearance, exuding sophistication and elegance. Despite her tender demeanor, Olivia couldn't help but notice a strange hint of vanity.
Olivia politely withdrew her arm and was about to thank her when a young boy interrupted. He was 13 or 14 years old when he declared, "Aunt, we need to find another room for her. Megan's playroom should not be taken away.
This impulsive interjection came from Ethan's youngest son, Tom Sinclair, who was known for being candid. Several family members made awkward expressions in response to his words.
Ethan's temper flared. "You are speaking out of turn! This does not concern you."
Unfazed, Tom retorted, "I'm simply telling the truth. We have plenty of rooms;so many rooms in the house, and she wants to take over Megan's playroom. Why should she?"
A girl sitting among the younger generation, looking like an angel, stood up without anyone noticing. She looked somewhat remorseful.
"Tom, stop it," she said.
This was Megan.
Megan was Rachel's niece. When Olivie was lost, Megan was adopted to appease Kenneth and to alleviate the fact that the Sinclair family had no girls. Megan had been raised in the Sinclair family since she was three years old, growing up with Olivia's cousins.
Turning to Olivia, Megan said softly, "Olivia, please do not be upset with Tom. He intends well. If the room is yours, I don't mind."
Megan's demeanor was gracious, but her words contained a subtle hint of resentment, similar to Nicole's tone.
Olivia reflected on the situation, wondering if her presence inevitably drew such conflicting relationships among the girls she met.
Megan redirected her attention to Tom and gently reprimanded him. "Apologize, Tom. Olivia is your cousin.
Tom replied dismissively, "She's not."
The clatter of a cup slamming onto the marble tabletop broke the silence, highlighting the room's tense atmosphere.
