Chapter 130 The Set Up
Calhoun's POV
"Alpha Calhoun, this is Emilia Dante, daughter of Alpha Morrison from the Starlight pack, She's representing her father in today's meeting," Bruce introduces the tall brunette to me. She's wearing an expensive business suit and looks overly confident because it's glaring that she knows she's stunning.
"It's great to finally meet you at last, Alpha Calhoun," Emilia is the
first to stretch forth her hand for a handshake.
And I reluctantly accepted it because it was Alpha Morrison I expected to see and not his daughter.
"My father sent his apologies, he's currently away in the meantime, so he asked me to fill in for him," Emily informs me when we break off the handshake.
"I see," I put my hand to my side.
"Let's discuss and finalize the documents, shall we?" Emilia offers me a seat with a small smile on her face.
Since the Starlight pack shares a boundary with the Greyhound pack, there's been a dispute between both packs because of the ancient moon goddess's temple resting near their pack, so they kept claiming it belongs to them when the truth is that, we have no idea if it's actually ours.
Upon seeing no pack is willing to give up the temple for the other, Alpha Morrison sent a request to me, asking if we could demolish the Moon goddess's temple to put an end to the enmity between both packs. And today, when we agreed to meet up at his hotel, he had his only daughter in place of him.
Bruce keeps zoning out as he stares at Emilia and I'm starting to wonder if he's smitten by her. Of course she's beautiful. It's hard to not notice this but I don't even care. I'm all for Kristen and I only have eyes for her. Bruce can try to woo her if he likes.
He's been acting like a semi-simp since we arrived here. Hurrying to pick up Emilia's pen when it falls. Stopping her from opening the documents and doing it all by himself. Helping her pour water into the glass cup by her side. And I just roll my eyes in their sockets and tug my tie a little. I've never seen him act this way around any woman before. It's new and stupid if I may add.
After reading through the documents, I finally sign my signature before Emilia did.
"It's all set, Alpha Calhoun. The temple will be demolished in three days," Emilia stretches her hand for a handshake, the second time.
And it's my Beta who seizes this opportunity to hold her hand.
Emilia looks puzzled for a split second as she watches Bruce lowering his head just to kiss her hand.
Staring at the ceiling, I shake my head.
"Once again, thank you for agreeing to this. Both the Starlight pack and the Greyhound pack will be at peace now," Emilia has a genuine smile on her face as she addresses me.
"I'll stop by to witness the demolition of the temple," I say.
"You should," we shake hands for the third time. And I sigh in relief because this particular burden has been lifted off my shoulders.
"Let's go," I direct this to Bruce.
"Alpha Calhoun?" Emilia was leaving when she suddenly returns as if she's forgotten something.
"Yes?"
"Forgive my bad manners, I forgot to offer you anything," She looks from me to Bruce and then Bruce to me.
"No, I don't mind at all," I try to wave this off but Bruce is against it.
"Yes, we do mind," he jumps in front of me and takes two steps to stand in front of Emilia, "You don't want to give us the wrong impression about you. Lacking hospitality isn't your thing, right?"
I elbow Bruce to keep from talking, but he just slides his hair backward with his palm and winks at Emilia, trying to show her his charm.
"Of course not, please stay back so I can offer you refreshments. Our restaurant is known for making the best meal in and outside this pack," Emilia gives out an awkward smile.
"Not to worry, I have business to at..."
"Please lead the way, Miss Emilia," Bruce interrupts me, filling the small space between him and Alpha Morrison's daughter.
And I clench my jaw because he's already disobeying me.
"Please come with me," Emilia smiles again, before walking right ahead of us with her father's men.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" I lash out at Bruce.
"Please, don't get mad at me, Alpha Calhoun. I think it's love at first sight. I don't want to lose my chances of getting a hold of Emilia Dante. She's beautiful beyond description, so please, I am begging you with Kristen's name, let's have lunch here." Bruce goes down on his knees and puts his hands together.
"Get the fuck up, you're disgracing yourself," I hiss at my beta. Because the remaining men here are staring at him as if he's gone
nuts.
"Why did you mention Kristen's name?" I glare at him when he rises
to his feet.
"Because she's the only thing you love the most, save for Nana
Joyce," Bruce gives me puppy eyes and I chuckle to myself because
this is getting insane.
"What are you doing?"
"Trying to get you into agreeing with me,"
"Just stop, you look like a creep."
"Sorry," Bruce quickly puts on a straight facial expression and slides his hair backward when he sees Emilia returning.
"Alpha Calhoun?"
"We're coming," I force this out of my throat and glare at my beta, who suddenly has this look on his face as if he's on cloud nine.
I wanted to have lunch with Kristen and her father, upon knowing
they went outing together. But now, Bruce just ruined everything because he's smitten by Emilia Dante, and won't leave until he
impresses her or gets her attention on him.
"What I expected to be a small lunch is a feast.
The table is large with several types of dishes. And it's confusing because I wasn't expecting something this big.
"Please have your seats," Emilia points at the seats. She's the only one here, with none of her father's men in sight. And I am a bit skeptical about joining this table because my mind suddenly flashes back to the day I joined Alpha Ezra at his table and I was poisoned. I am still traumatized by that terrible occurrence and it's something I will never forget.
But Bruce, who is smiling like a goat in therapy, has already slide into the nearest seat.
I sneer at him for a few seconds, before reluctantly sitting. Immediately, servants in white uniforms rush to the table to serve us.
Emilia smiles and claps her hands together on the table. She seems satisfied to have us there.
"Enjoy yourself Alpha Calhoun and errr..."
"Bruce. My name is Bruce." Bruce is quick to finish for her.
"Oh, how could I ever forget?" Emilia smiles at Bruce for the first time and I can see my beta literally swooning.
For the umpteenth time, I shake my head. I mean Bruce is very powerful and quick-witted, and that's why I chose him as my Beta, but today he's acting like a dummy. And we can't go anywhere if he keeps behaving like this.
So I stomp hard on his foot, to make him regain his senses.
The idiot already has his mouth stuffed with food as he groans. "Help yourself, Alpha Calhoun. The food is nice," Emilia flashes me a
beautiful smile.
"Thank you," I give her a firm nod, before serving myself some
steak.

+45 Bonus disappears as I dig in. I even pour myself some white wine and down the whole glass in one gulp.
Upon hearing something like a mischievous giggle, I snap my head
In Emilia's direction, only to see her supporting her chin with her palm, and staring at me dreamily.
It's rather unsettling. So I don't pour myself more wine. Although if
the wine or food was poisoned, it could've affected me a long time
ago. Bruce sighs in satisfaction as he stuffs his mouth with chicken until his cheeks are bulging like that of a bulldog's.
I've never seen him act this way with food before. He's eating like a
starved, crazed man.
Suddenly, he pauses from chewing and his head drops into the plate
of food.
"Shit," I hiss under my breath and put my hand on his back to tap him. It might be he's trying to be hysterical in front of Emilia. "Bruce," I smack his shoulder this time because I've tapped him for
like five times but he's not getting up from the plate of food. Bruce who is so obsessed with his looks. It's rather strange. And when I stare at his face, I see that he's passed out.
"What the fuck," I curse deeply under my breath as I quickly rise
from my chair.
"Bruce!? Wake the fuck up," just as I am attempting to pull his face out from the food, this wave of drowsiness hits me hard, and my vision blurs until I drop to the floor.
