Chapter 142 Forced into action
Alessia’s POV
We all turn to him to face him as shifts me a bit to
brings the phone out of his pocket and checks the screen.
“Its Padre”
He answers immediately “Padre do you have something?”
Alex pauses listening to something Padre says .His expression suddenly changing as he narrows his gaze on the papers shifting slightly on the sofa.
Then swears under his breath “Bastardi”
My heart skips a few beats…
What is it now?
“How many of them ?”He asks
How many of who? I wonder as I watch him
“All of them ?”
there is another pause “Not one person survived ?.”
I feel my eyes widen in horror and my stomach twists in knots..
Who died?
And how?
Alex turns slightly away from me as he listens
“Where is the strazza now?” He asks
Another long pause as he listens.
“Here At the La Concorde hotel in Mezza? Where my pilot and crew are stationed ?” I sit right up when I hear that locking worried gazes with Luca and then Angelica.
Are we being followed ?
Alex cleared me of the theft charges
They know I do not have la Rosa
And why are they here?
Are they coming after me ?
Who are they ?
Alex runs a hand through his hair..
“Why is he recruiting again ?” He growls into the phone.
He gasps lowering his voice Something he heard has unsettled him .I shift closer to see if I can hear better.
“Do you know how soon?”
Silence.
“Yes Padre, I understand”
Alex ends the call slowly
I stare at Alex for a few minutes waiting for the low down but Luca breaks the silence first impatient to hear what the call was about.
“Alex ?”
Alex turns to me first his eyes full of worry “Thomas has sent two separate teams to retrieve La Rosa from La Geneva”
I gasp
Its worse than what I thought
“And they all perished..”
Angelica holds on to luca her face growing pale and Lucy staggers with shock dropping into the single chair.
“How many people were killed ?” Lucy asks quietly
“So far twelve hunters, first wave seven and second wave five”
Twelve innocent men and women
With families
Gone forever!
My stomach rumbles and I feel like I am going to be sick. Lucy holds on to some notes tightly as if her sanity depends on it.
“Could they be the false hunters” she whispers more to herself than anybody else
Alex carries on “Padre has confirmed that Thomas is still alive .He was spotted entering La concorde”
I gasp my hands flying to my mouth in shock
Our hotel!
Alex pursues his lips in annoyance. “Yes I know it's disturbing he is trying to recruit a new set of gullible people .Offering ridiculously large sums of money.”
“He is getting desperate and too cowardly to go himself” Luca mutters
“He still believes La Rosa is his inheritance” Alex adds “He is telling all of them Sirranos are the rightful owners.”
Bunch of Lies
“But from what we have read from the prophecy La Casa is the rightful owner all along .Natura created it.” I pause mulling it over “ So now we need to find out who she gifted it to The Sirrano’s or the Ferrini’s?”
Did my Mother not know of the disparity?
And she still chose to protect it for the false owners?
Because of my father Gabreal Sirrano?
Was it really gifted to The Sirranos?
Or did they steal it from the Ferrini’s?
It's ironic how history seems to be repeating itself with my situation since I am now bonded to a Ferrini…
I shake my head in despair as Lucy looks on between us.
“Alex If he succeeds in sending another group they will die and La Geneva will not keep sitting still they are bound to retaliate” I add my voice as low as a whisper but packed with weight.
“You know he won't stop now and admit defeat.” Alex says “He already has four hunters ready to go he just needs one more then they head out.”
Tension rises like a tsunami in the room
This is murder
Not strategy
He is sending them to their death
We cannot allow this to go on-
I lean forward reaching for the note I just read out aloud
The false hunters will perish-
“Its almost as if He is triggering the prophecy” I say quietly
Lucy nods in agreement
“And this line as well” she adds indicating it
“Only then shall her true Reign Begin”
Everyone's eyes shift to me
“Alessia we can’t keep letting Innocent People perish” Angelica says slowly “then the true claimant must rise to the occasion and determine the rightful owner.”
Meaning me?
As the last descendant…
If Thomas keeps failing, and People keep dropping like flies.
Alex reaches for my hand “Alessia we cannot let him get there first, I say this not because I want La Rosa too but because its the right thing to do” he says quietly
Because if Thomas keeps this up
There will be no chance for infiltration
No chance for using glamour , shields and flame
Or strategy
Only blood will continue to flow
Lucy stands and starts packing the notes slowly
“Alessia this is your turning point,decide carefully your next move”
My chest tightens with the gravity ofbyhe situation.Deep down inside I know she is right
If we allow Thomas to continue or eventually succeed...One of two things will happen:
\-He will attempt himself and perish
\-Or he attempts himself succeeds and drags us into the impending magical war
La Geneva already know he is connected to me
He can't make it there before us
We lose our advantage
Alex's jaw hardens as he squeezes my hand once
“Cara Mia, We have to leave before Dawn.” It's not even a question
It's already decided
Luca nods in agreement
Angelica clutches his hand “All of us together”
I look at the notes in my hand one last time
Time has come for -Revenge
