Chapter Ninety-Three
*Gabriela*
It’s been an hour since the doctor went in the room with Enzo. He still hasn’t came out to inform me on what was going on with him. The more time passes the more I become worried and filled with anxiety. Samual had prepared food for us, but I couldn’t stomach to eat a single bite. We stayed quiet, just waiting. Gia hasn’t said another word after our last conversation, and I could tell Samual didn’t trust her since his eyes skirted to her a few times with mistrust and cautiousness.
A sudden alarm starts to go off making me jerk as Gia sits up looking around in a panic. We both turn to Samual as he quickly stands up and heads straight for another room that was dark. Opening the door a red light flashes as the alarm sounds louder.
“What is it?” I ask as I get up and walk over to the doorway to peer inside.
It was a security room filled with working cameras and computer system. He was bent over checking one of the monitors. “Someone is pulling up.” He answers just before he pushes away from the desk and rushes past me in a hurry.
I look at the monitor he was just staring at to see a black car pull up next to the one we arrived in. Looking behind me back at Samual I watch as he comes out from another room on the other side cocking a gun. Swinging my gaze back to the monitor my heart races in dread afraid that Dario or his men may have found us. But seeing who comes out of the driver’s side causes relief to flood through me like a tidal wave and I nearly sagged to the ground.
“It’s Charlie!” I gasp before turning from the room and heading straight for the door we came in when we first arrived.
“Wait!” I hear Samual call out, but I ignore him as I pull the door open to see both him and Domenico walking up.
Tears swam through my eyes looking back and forth between the two of them. Dom’s eyes widen in shock and before he could say my name out loud I slam him in a hug relieved and happy to see he was still alive.
“You’re okay!” I couldn’t help sobbing out.
He stiffened in my embrace but soon relaxed and hugged me back. “Yeah, sort of.” He chuckles his voice sounding a bit funny.
Pulling from his arms I take a real good look at him and wince. “What did they do to you?”
He tries to smile but he grimaces from the pain. “Trust me, I would rather be in this shape then at the bottom of the ocean.”
“Is the doctor here? He needs to be looked at.” Charlie asks Samual who had lowered his weapon.
“Yeah, he’s with Enzo now.”
Once they heard the sound of his name they both rush to get inside with Dom limping his way in. I try to help him as he sucks in his breath from all the pain his body must be going through right now. While heading for the room with the doctor and Enzo I quickly inform them of his condition.
“How long has he been out?” Charlie quickly fires back and for the first time I see him slightly lose his composure.
“Twenty minutes before we got here, and the doctor has been in there with him for an hour. We’re not sure if he has gain consciousness during that time or not.” Samual roughly says as he knocks on the door.
“How bad is it?” Dom asks me looking highly worried for his cousin.
“I’m not sure.” It was the only thing I could say to him.
The door creaks up and the doctor’s head pokes out. “Oh good you’re here.” He says to Charlie and then his eyes widen when he looks to Domenico. “Good heavens child what the hell happened to you?!” He gasps.
He doesn’t bother waiting for an answer as he swings the door wide open and grabs his other arm throwing it over his shoulder to usher him inside. “I swear you Giordano men are going to be the death of me one day. Your uncles are one thing to deal with on a near daily basis but you boys? My old heart can’t take much of this if either of you die before I do.” He grunts out.
“Well I guess we wouldn’t be much of Giordano’s if we don’t at least once show up on your doorstep with blood on our hands.” Dom cracks a smile that soon made him groan.
Lying him down on another hospital bed in the corner the doctor grunts again looking unimpressed by his statement. “You look like shit.” He deadpan.
“But alive.” Dom sighs as he finally relaxes.
I leave the two of them as I rush to Enzo who still was out cold with a bandage wrapped around his head. Charlie was already checking his pupils and looking at some sort of machine with numbers that wasn’t making much sense to me.
“His blood pressure is good and his heart rate normal. How’s his brain scans?” He demands as he looks over his IV.
“Normal, thank God. He’s been waking off and on which is a good sign, but he doesn’t stay awake longer than a few seconds. He hit that noggin pretty damn well, but he’ll recover.”
The sound of that filled with me with so much relief that my knees gave out. And right before I hit the floor Charlie quickly grabs me and helps me to a nearby chair that I assumed the doctor had been sitting in. With everything happening all at once and so quickly I felt the wave of nauseousness overcome me. Getting up I run out of the room and straight for a toilet throwing up what little I had which was basically nothing.
All the fear, anxiety, and worry slammed with the relief was just to overwhelming for my body. Flushing the toilet I go to wash out my mouth just to find Charlie standing in the doorway watching me. He had a curious expression on his face.
“Are you alright?” He asks grabbing a few paper towels and handing them to me.
“Yeah, I’ll be fine.”
“Guess you’ll have to get used to it. Hopefully it won’t last throughout the entirety of the pregnancy.”
My eyes widen in shock. “How did you know?”
He shrugs. “Come on Gabby, it’s me, I know everything.” Then he smiles as he backs away. “Besides, this chick blurted that you’re pregnant before I rushed in here. Guess she thought it was safe to tell me.”
Gia still sat at the couch and shrugged in return. “He looked trustworthy.” Was all she says before going back to the magazine she was reading.
