Chapter 66
Tobias’ POV
All the leaders, Cynthia, Sophia and Bronson are waiting patiently in the common room for Nathanial and Adrian to get back. “Do you think it worked?” Harry asked. “It did; they are on their way back. Adrian just linked me. Cynthia; don’t be disappointed; apparently your little boy, is a little tipsy” I tell everyone pointing my thumb and index finger slightly apart at them; showing them how tipsy he was. They all start laughing.
The pair come into the common room; “And?” Renee chimes in. “We got it. According to Danny; the bear shifter who sold it to me; he is forbidden to take any, he only sells it for ‘the warlock’ he said to me. The alcohol they sell there is potent; a lot stronger than anything I’ve had before” Nathanial tells everyone.
Adrian pulls the tablet out of his pocket and hands it to Cynthia. “Now it’s your turn mum. If you need anymore; Nath can go back and get some. They think he downed this one.”
“Stage two; underway” Harvey says gleefully. “I’m not happy Richard is behind the drug sales in my territory” Bronson snaps at everyone. “The tension in the air around the bar was thicker than in the territory. I wouldn’t be surprised if that is where the spell was generated from” Nathanial mentions.
Alarms start going off around the compound “There’s a rouge attack. Nathanial; stay here. You are not fit for a fight” Bronson booms through the room. We all jump up out of our chairs and head outside. Cynthia, Sophia and Nathanial head up the stairs.
This should be easy; there is only 10 rogues coming for a fight. Coby, Beck, Glenn and Kim are on the outskirts looking for who is coming in to steel for more drugs. Alister shifts and makes his way to the first rogue. He rips him apart with his claws and mouth and he tumbles to the ground.
Andre goes for another; he throws him into one of the redwood trees. “He’s unconscious;” Elijah calls out as he and David pick him up and take him to the dungeon.
The others retreat the way they came. “They mustn’t want a fight” Brian calls out. Then we hear it; “Let go of me” Glenn and Coby have a lady that looks like Samantha; only really skinny with matted hair and is very dirty. That must be Beatrice; or her counterpart. Not sure who is at the surface.
“Bea” Samantha calls out to her. She narrows her eyes at her sister and spits “What are you doing here?” It must be the counterpart. “We will let you go Zuri; if I can talk to my sister” she yells at the counterpart. “Beatrice doesn’t want to talk to you” she spits. “Then you will be going to the dungeons until she does” Samantha says to her; nodding at Cody and Glenn.
They head towards the pride house “Wait” Zuri yells. They stop and face toward us “If I let you speak with Bea; you will let us go?” “Depends. If you let me talk with her; I will consider it” Samantha tells her. Zuri’s eyes go from brown to hazel “Samantha; you have to let Zuri go” “Why?” she asks her.
“You can’t help me anymore. Please?” she begs. Glenn pushes the needle into Bea “What was that?” “Take her to the safehouse” Bronson screams to Glenn and Coby. We follow into the common room behind the pair.
“Mum?” a young girl; she looks about 12, calls out to Beatrice; when we bring her through the door. “Rhiannon” she cries; “Is your father here?” “No; he doesn’t want to see you.” Tears stream down Beatrice’s face. “What did you do to Zuri? She’s banging herself up against something.”
“Bea; we caged her so we can get both of you help” Samantha tells her. “We know you aren’t affected by the drugs Bea; it’s Zuri who is; she is meant to be a voice of reason and her on the drugs is giving an opposite effect” I say to her. She starts crying even more.
“I’ve tried to talk her out of buying more; but she’s severely addicted. I can’t reason with her anymore” Beatrice tells us. Rhiannon sits by her mother; “I forgive you mum; you need to come home.”
“Beatrice; I’m Doctor Spencer. You will need to stay in the safehouse for a little while. Zuri will suffer withdrawals from the drugs. She may go through hallucinations; there will be screaming and you may have some side effects of headaches, hot and cold sweats; abdominal pain and muscle spasms. I will be able to give you human pain killers but it may not stop the symptoms.”
“Will Zuri be alright?” she asks “It’s hard to tell until the drugs are fully out of your system. That can take a few months. We will keep her caged for the time being” Doc Spencer tells her.
“I will be with you Mum” Rhiannon says to her “I will too” Samantha includes. “Bea; We have Dr Travis Bushell; he’s a psychiatrist. He will talk you through what you may experience coming off the drugs and help you with other issues you may want to talk about” Renee injects.
Beatrice nods her head and pulls Rhiannon into a hug. “The rogue you have in your dungeon; he is on the Lace too” she says. “Do you know his name?” Seth asks her “I only know his lion’s name; it’s Mason” “That’s a start; what about the rogue we killed? Harry asked. “They call him a distributor; he is employed by the people who supply the drug. He gets the drugs from them and gives it to us. We don’t know who they are; we only deal with the distributors. I do know they aren’t going to be happy with your wolf.”
“He can take care of himself” I tell her. She looks at me; “We heard what happened to the Alpha and his mate. I’m sorry for your loss” she says to me. I look around the room; there’s a few smirks behind her back. I’m not sure if we can trust her or not. “Thank you, Bea; we are still feeling the loss” I tell her.
“We will need to speak to Mason; try and talk to his human” Tim says to the room. “I can go with you, Tim” I say to him. “Will you be caging Mason as well?” Beatrice says concern in her eyes. “The caging doesn’t harm them, Bea” Samantha says. “I’m not concerned about the caging; I’m hoping you can do it. My concern is Mason; he’s only 21; I want you to help him” she tells us.
“Let us go see him” Tim says to her, “we’ll do our best to help him” I add.
