Chapter 22
Jessica’s POV
*“Mum, are you home? I need to speak with you”* I mind link. *"Yes, come on over.”*
I get to Mum’s door and knock; “you don’t need to knock Jess; my room is your room” she calls out. I open the door and see Mum, Adrian, Cathy, Nathanial and Debbie. “What’s up Runt?” Nath comments as I enter the room. “You’re all here; that will make it easier” I exclaimed sitting down on the chair next to the sofas they were sitting in.
They all give me a quizzical look; “In three weeks, there will be a full moon. Jon and Alex would like to hold their ceremony on that night. We need your help to plan it.” “It’s about time” Nathanial chimes in, “That’s brilliant” mum says “I can’t wait” Adrian agrees. “What can we do?” Cathy asks moving closer to sit by me; something smells different about her.
I can’t concentrate on that right now, so I shake it off and continue the request; “Cathy, I thought you, Debbie, Mum, Aunty Leanne and Aunty Gil could do the decorations and seating” “Will it be held at the training arena?” Debbie asks. “Ah ha” I answer nodding; “Alex said it’s the only place big enough” I look at Nath and Adrian, “Ads, we thought you could sort out the music and Nath, you sort out the lighting.” Nathanial looks over to Adrian, “Wanna swap?” “No” everyone says in unison. We all start laughing, Nathanial clutches his heart, mocking how hurt he is.
“What about the food and invitations?” Mum asks. “I’m about to go see Simone to sort out the food, and Jonny and Liv will fix the invitations. Mum, can you talk to Aunty Leanne and Aunty Gil…Oh my Goddess; your pregnant” I blurt out; realizing why Cathy smelt different. Cathy blushes; holding her stomach and everyone else starts sniffing the air.
Adrian and Mum gasp, I guess, they didn’t know. “You haven’t gone into heat yet” Adrian said, Debbie and I roll our eyes. “It’s not uncommon for she-wolfs to fall pregnant outside of their heat” Mum tells him; “I don’t know how I missed it, my first Grandpup” she adds, giving Cathy a huge hug.
“What are you having?” Debbie asks. I stare at Debbie; she’s only just fallen pregnant; how could she know? “A boy” Cathy responds. “How do you know?” “Oh, baby sis; you can sense the aura. I forgot you weren’t here for that anatomy class, thanks for spoiling my surprise” she giggles. “What surprise? We can smell him.”
“You were asking Mum something before you announced to the world, I was pregnant” Cathy says, nudging me with her elbow. “Yeah, Mum can you talk to Aunty Leanne and Aunty Gil about helping? And Nathanial” I narrow my eyes at him “It’s not just the Alpha’s that will be sworn in, the Betta and Gamma do too. You need to look your best” “Don’t worry Jess; I will make sure this walking fashion disaster is dressed appropriately” Debbie laughs.
“Will you be making your dress?” Mum asks me. “Ahh, I thought I might buy my dress.” She looks at me; sensing there was something is wrong with her question. *“Is everything ok baby girl? You loved sewing and making clothes”* a look of concern, etched on her face. *“Sorry mum, Luna Aubrey found out I could sew and would order me to make her dresses for special occasions. Every single time; she would find something wrong to give her an excuse to hit me”* I told her.
Mum comes over and wraps me in her arms and I start crying; “It’s ok; I’ll take you shopping and we will find the perfect dress for the ceremony.”
“Runt, are you and Liv being sworn in as Luna?” Nathanial asks me. I blush “Umm, we haven’t decided yet. We still have a lot to learn.” “Don’t worry, you have plenty of time” Mum smiles.
“I was wondering though” I start; pausing to figure out what to say. “Aunty Leanne was saying I needed to do something about my name when I am ready. I love Alex and we have already mated. What did you and Dad do regarding your name. Is it like humans getting married?”
Mum smiles at me; “No it’s very much like the ceremony you just had. You have to request a name change to the Alpha and if allowed, he affiliates the name change through blood oath to the Moon Goddess. In your case, you need permission from Leanne.”
I giggle; “sorry Nath; looks like you won’t be walking me down the aisle.” Nathanial pouts “You’re killing me Runt.” “We class it as being married; when we change our surname to our mates” Mum adds.
I change the subject to get the emphasis off myself, “So, Cath, I know you only fell pregnant; have you thought of a name?” “I need to discuss that with Ads” she says glaring her blue eyes at me. “Yeah, I know; surely you have a few names rolling around if that gorgeous head of yours.”
“I do; but I don’t want Adrian to feel pressured to use it if I tell everyone,” she says giving us a half smile. Adrian puts his arms around her, placing his hands gently on her stomach. “I have a few ideas too” Adrian tells everyone, Cathy beams at him; her dimple displaying in her left cheek “what are they?” she asked.
“Call me old fashioned,” “Your old fashioned” Cathy, Nathanial and myself interrupted him in unison. Adrian starts laughing “yes, now I can see the triplet thing. I believe we need to name him after someone; my thought is to call him Zachariah after your dad.” Cathy started to cry; she turns toward him, giving him a kiss. “That’s a lovely thought, Adrian” Mum says a tear trickling down her face. “You’re a romantic” Nath digs at him. “I love it” I say to him.
“I guess we have a name” Adrian announces “We can argue over he’s middle name then” Cathy says nudging him.
I stand up from my chair; “I better go; I still have to go down to the kitchen to see Simone.” I give mum a hug and kiss; “love you” I say to her; heading out the door, “love you too sweetheart.”
I head toward the elevators and mind link Alex *“heading down to the kitchen to talk with Omega Simone. Everything else is delegated”. “I’ll meet you there.” “Oh, and Cath’s pregnant.”* and hit the elevator button.
