Chapter 4

While Matt drove home, Damon was driving to his own meeting of the minds. Several days of police investigation produced nothing but more angry lectures from his distraught wife. Finally, the children’s needs distracted her, and he was free to get out of the house.

Ten minutes of driving got him to the club. The doorman knew him and ushered him quickly to the back room. Once there, he sat alone in silence until the arrival.

“Check your phone,” came the curt order.

Damon pulled out his iPhone and stared in amazement. At least ten text messages were waiting. He had silenced alerts while interviewing with the police and forgot to turn them back on.

With horror, he saw pictures of himself and his mistress. In a flash, he remembered when she took them. The stupid bitch, he thought. How did they get out? But right now, he had bigger fish to fry.

Leon Pace surveyed the man in front of him. Anger filled his veins, but he tried to remain under control. After all, anyone could get robbed. But the pictures were too much. If Damon wanted to mess around, fine. But don’t let it go public.

“You’ve embarrassed me,” he hissed.

“But, boss…”

“Shut up! I don’t want to hear it!”

Leon sat back and thought. It didn’t take long for him to come up with a solution.

“You want help getting your items back?”

“Yes. You know the police won’t do anything.”

“Ok. I’ll send you over to Mark. Give him a full list of what was taken. He can get into the surveillance video and see if we can track this prick down. Maybe through a fence that accepts stolen goods. Now get out of my sight.”
