Lexton and Aurora had finished getting ready that morning.
Aurora had already turned on the television, having changed into a pair of T-shirts and jeans that wrapped around her body. A light brown jacket was draped over the back of the sofa, and Aurora intended to take it with her today.
Meanwhile, Lexton had just come out of the bathroom, but was already wearing a navy blue shirt paired with dark jeans.
As usual the Alpha left the top three buttons of his shirt open, with the cuffs folded up to his elbows.
"Has Oliv arrived yet?"
Lexton asked as he still held a medium-sized towel, running it through his still slightly damp hair.
Aurora looked over, nodding her head.
"He's here, Mr. Lexton," she replied. "Oliv brought breakfast, and he's outside now."
Lexton's eyes were drawn to the several packages already sitting on the dining table, as Aurora already held a plate of fruit salad in her hands.
She was sitting with her eyes fixed on the television, enjoying her morning meal for the day.
"Do you want to go straight to breakfast?" asked Aurora this time.
She rose from her seat, approaching Lexton who was now walking slowly towards the table.
"Later, darling," Lexton politely declined.
But the man's right hand plucked two pieces of apple from the slightly opened salad packet, popping them into his mouth with a quick movement later.
"Finish your meal," Lexton said gently, as he stroked Aurora's cheek with his hand. "I'm going to see Oliv for a while, so you wait here."
Aurora nodded in understanding as Lexton stepped away. Heading towards the door, the Alpha planned to meet Oliv as he had just said.
Now moving to continue her breakfast at the dining table, Aurora heard the faint sound of the door opening.
Oliv threw his cigarette butt into a nearby trash can, when he noticed that the door to Lexton's apartment was now wide open.
The Alpha appeared from there, and Oliv hurriedly approached the leader of their clan.
"Are you leaving today, Alpha?" Oliv greeted first, now standing tall in front of Lexton.
"That's right. Aurora and I are going out for a tour of the city, so make sure there's nothing I have to rush back for."
Oliv nodded in understanding. The few business matters that were the reason for Lexton's departure to the city were almost entirely completed, and their master certainly had plenty of time to spend.
"A unit will be coming down to supervise, sir," Oliv said again.
Lexton chuckled softly, as if disagreeing with what Oliv had just said.
"No need," he quickly dismissed. "Do what you have to do, and don't follow my car."
Oliv's eyes narrowed to indicate that he disagreed, because the current situation could not be fully predicted.
The incident that happened to Lexton at that time was indeed a fateful accident. But if only they had been more alert, maybe their leader wouldn't have been injured in such a way.
"Sir, I can't let you and your lady go unattended," Oliv argued this time. "We don't know what kind of situation is out there, although there has been no movement from David Senegal up until this moment."
Lexton rubbed his chin in thought for a few seconds. What Oliv had said did have a point, because they really couldn't afford to be careless.
"You just keep an eye on his movements," Lexton replied again.
He knew Oliv was only worried about the safety and security of himself and Aurora, but surely the Alpha could take care of the young girl with his own hands.
"I've assembled a team to spy on David Senegal," Oliv reported. "But there is one rather important thing I must tell you, sir."
Lexton grinned, watching Oliv closely out of the corner of his eye.
The young man seemed to take a deep breath, as if gathering strength before opening his voice now.
"Jovanka Scholer apparently escaped," Oliv said a little haltingly. "I apologize for letting this happen, but she tricked the guards by disguising herself as another woman."
Like being hit by a hard rock, Lexton was stunned. What had Oliv just said!
"Jovanka?!" hissed Lexton involuntarily. "You said Jovanka ran away?!"
The man's tone rose uncontrollably, as Oliv now chose to bow his head in embarrassment.
"I apologize, sir," he said pleadingly. "But the guards there were completely fooled, because the woman in Jovanka's house did resemble her."
Lexton sighed with anger, as his jaw hardened now. The man's eyeballs turned sharp, as he looked in the other direction.
'So, you escaped apparently,' he mused. 'Is it really you, Joe?'
There was a moment of silence as Oliv and Lexton both pursed their lips, simultaneously lost in their own thoughts.
Lexton really didn't want his mood to be spoiled, because today he had planned to have fun with his girlfriend.
Girdling his loins, the Alpha made a quick decision.
"Aurora is now VVIP," the man said.
Oliv raised his head to meet Lexton's gaze, followed by his head nodding in understanding.
"Her safety is just as important as mine," Lexton said again. "If Jovanka has indeed escaped, she's probably at David Senegal's side right now."
Oliv listened carefully to Lexton's every word.
"I don't care how, but you must find Jovanka before we return to the mansion tomorrow night," Lexton ordered. "Don't let her move, and bring her to me alive."
Oliv absorbed all of his superior's requests, even though he had already tracked down Jovanka's whereabouts even before Lexton asked.
But the woman seemed to be in an unreachable place, as their organization hadn't sniffed out her whereabouts at all.
"Yes, sir!"
Lexton adjusted his hair in a quick motion, trying to shake off the frustration that had just set in.
The fact that Jovanka was wandering around out there was still bothering Lexton, as the man now really hoped that Jovanka would not sniff out Aurora's presence beside him.
"In that case, let one of the units you prepared earlier stand guard behind me," Lexton broke the silence again.
He'd better layer his guard, since Aurora was with him.
"Understood, sir!" greeted Oliv quickly. "I've prepared everything downstairs."
Lexton cleared his throat, as Oliv now excused himself to retreat from his presence.
The man was still hunched over where he was, trying hard to get rid of the shadow of Jovanka that had come back.
Clenching his hands tightly, Lexton's eyes still shone with a look of hatred. Because the pain of betrayal was still there, even if only a little bit.
The sound of the door opening broke Lexton's reverie, as he reflexively turned around to find Aurora poking her head in the doorway.
"Mr. Lexton, your phone is ringing," Aurora said with a bright smile.
Lexton took a step towards his girl, pushing Aurora back into the apartment.
The Alpha pressed Aurora against the wall, flashing a smile when now Aurora's face looked confused with blinking eyes.
"Master, the cell phone is ringing," Aurora whispered again, stammering slightly due to the lack of oxygen wafting around her. "Shouldn't you pick it up now? It could be an important call."
Lexton stood right in front of her, smirking before he opened his voice.
"There's nothing more important than you, Aurora," he whispered softly. "By the way, how about a good morning shake?"
Aurora couldn't help the smile that just widened. Lexton had already approached first, tasting the strawberry flavor of the lipgloss Aurora had brushed on her lips.
Pressing her lover closer, Lexton whispered when the good morning embrace ended after a few minutes.
"Ready for a date with me, Baby?"
