Chapter 29 Chapter twenty nine
Emma pov
“I miss my parents” i said tears clouding my eyes as the illusion i had been slowly fermented away, and i returned to the beautiful field filled with flowers.
The woman just nodded her head trying to cover her pain. “I want to go back to earth” i demanded fiercely. The man shook his head.. “you can't go back Emma. Even if you run away now, thinking earth will save you, it'll only bring disaster and catstrophe there. And you'll still die eventually” he said looking straight into my eyes.
“So what do i do now.?” I asked defeated. “You have to cultivate your magic of light. This isn't as easy as I'm saying it now. You'll have to pass through trials and overcome to find your guardian. Failure means death. Forever.”
I sighed deeply and hung my head. “I know you can't make a decision now, but you can't become queen without knowing how to use your powers” the women said cautiously, stepping forward to hold me.
“But why must i cultivate it.? Can't i just go and become queen.?”
She shook her head in amusement “no, the day your power surges, you'll explode instantly if you don't know how to control it” the woman replied.
Night soon set in. The beautiful field instantly became illuminated with fire flies. A gentle breeze began to blow and crickets cricked loudly.
Seeing that I didn't reply, they took my hands and slowly led me to a beautiful house. Although it wasn't big, the interior was very expensive and homily. “Where's this place.?” I asked in wonder, eyeing all the expensive and beautiful antiques that'll definitely fetch millions on earth.
The man sighed gently. “We can't go back to the celestial kingdom. The council ordered that if we can't bring you back, we shouldn't return” he explained but I just nodded and headed to a cozy bedroom without asking.
“Good night”
The woman bidded me silently with an unspoken paim still hidden in her voice. I just nodded and shut the door. Collapsing on the huge bed, i couldn't help but think about my family. How were they fairing? Are they mad at me.?
Trying to take my mind off them, i began to hear whisperings from outside. Pressing my ear gently to my door, i heard sobbing from the other side.
“Our princess is all grown now. How I wished we were the ones that raised her. She's so lovely and filled with respect for her foster family” the woman said in a teary voice.
“She's going to be alright….” The man consoled her. “But can't she not go for the cultivation.? Please I don't want anything to happen to her. I want to make up for lost time” she pleased.
“Annie.! No, you know it isn't possible. If we do that we'll all be wiped out. Didn't you go through your cultivation too.? Everything is up to her. Only she can determine if she'll live or die.” He said sounding cross.
“I know…i know…” she continued sobbing. Not wanting to hear more, i staggered back to the bed and collapsed on it.
The next day, i was woken up in the early hours of the morning and told to prepare myself. “This isn't just going to test your strength, you'll have to confront all your negativity, test your intelligence, willpower and find your guardian.
“The higher you go, the harder the trials becomes. I'm not promising you milk and honey, you'll have to be strong. Remember, failure means death and success means you'll be a hero. Our hero” he concluded.
I nodded rubbing my sleepy eyes, wanting to go back to sleep. “No no no Emma. The time is now. Procrastinating is dangerous, don't forget Rexy and liriah are still on the loose.
"To them right now, you're still comatose. But this doesn't mean if you fail the trial now you won't die. Your body will die over there.” He explained removing the duvet from my body and helping me to my feet.
We made our way outside and he pointed to a multi colored pothole shining in the morning sun. “There is where your journey starts. You have to complete your trials within the next seven days. Time in there will be a little slower. If in the next seven days you haven't completed your trials, you'll be stuck there forever.” He said pointing to the pothole.
On hearing this, sleep immediately cleared from my eyes. “Seven days.!?” I asked in disbelief. “Isn't that seven years on earth.?”
He nodded. “That's impossible, i can't leave my parents for a whole nine years. I'm really eager to go back after this two days which is two years and now you're telling me i need to add extra seven years.” I argued my anger rising.
But the man just kept glancing at the strange wrist watch he wore. “But I've explained all the consequences, why are we still going through this.? The princess of light is only given birth to once in every sixty thousand demon years. Now you see the immerse power you hold.?” He explained impatiently.
My heart was torn. Looking at the face of the woman, i suddenly felt a pang of fear. Her eyes were filled with tears, unusual tears. “I won't die, right.?” I suddenly panicked grabbing his hand.
He shook his head “its up to you Emma.” He said leading me to the pothole. The woman quickly shoved a watch in my hand. “This is the best i can do” she said.
The pothole suddenly began to vanish slowly. “Hurry.! Its closing.!” He shouted urgently, pushing me forward. I ran towards the vanishing pothole and jumped in before it closed.
I fell into a dark cramped room. Regaining my composure, i stood up slowly cautiously feeling around with my outstretched hands. It felt rough, like i was in a big box.
“Help.!” I yelled but my voice bounced back to me as the place was cramped. Defeated, i sat back and began to curse at the couple for deceiving me and trapping me in a box.
Frustrated and angry, i began to kick the box like crazy but it didn't buldge. As i stumbled around, my leg suddenly got caught on something like a trap. Unable to see it, i just yanked my leg away. The sudden burst of pain hit me, and tears formed in the corner of my eyes.
Clutching my foot, i sat back biting my lips in pain. “Help.!” I yelled again, this time my voice was low and filled with pain. But there was still no reply. Feeling the ground around me for anything to treat my bleeding wound, i felt the trap again.
Carefully, i examined it. It wasn't really a trap, shaped like a hook but more curved. I pulled it with all my strength. After some time, the box began to quake violently and exploded with a blast and blinding light. I covered my eyes with my hands at the light.
When i opened them again, i was in the middle of a huge desert.
