Chapter 244
Originally, Christopher had figured out how to deal with Parker inside him, and had decided what sacrifices he'd make when necessary. But he never expected Parker would willingly lie low.
He should have seen it coming.
Someone as arrogant as him—how could he possibly stay quietly inside his body, content to be a soul that couldn't see the light of day?
The guilt in Christopher's eyes was plain to see. Olivia squeezed his hand back, "It's okay, I'll always be here. You can look at me as long as you want."
After this incident, she understood even more clearly how important Christopher was to her. Especially yesterday, when Parker took Christopher away, the panic in her heart couldn't lie.
Without realizing it, she had long since started treating him as the most important person in her life.
When they learned the two were leaving, Hank, Hayes, and the other villagers all came to see them off at the entrance.
Hank looked at Olivia, his tone somewhat apologetic and worried, "Ms. Smith, can the Fire Element Blood Ruby still be recovered?"
The Fire Element Blood Ruby was lost in their village. At the end of the day, he felt a bit embarrassed. If they weren't just ordinary villagers, maybe this wouldn't have happened.
His expression was written all over his face, and Olivia saw it clearly. She smiled and shook her head, "Don't worry, I won't let something you all protected with your lives fall into someone else's hands."
Hearing this, Hank nodded heavily, moved, "Ms. Smith, who knows when we'll meet again after this parting. Please take good care of yourselves on the road."
Olivia looked around at the simple, honest faces before her and said slowly, "You too, take good care of yourselves. From now on, you don't have to guard the village with your lives. Do whatever you want to do."
"Sacred Flame Village is where our ancestors lived. Even without the sacred flame or the Fire Element Blood Ruby, we'll still protect our home."
Hayes said firmly, "Don't worry. Once the village chief steps down, I'll make reforms!"
At the end, he started joking around, and everyone laughed softly. The farewell scene suddenly felt less heavy.
Hank laughed along, "You little punk, I haven't stepped down yet and you're already eyeing my position as village chief."
"Of course. Village chief, you're getting old. You should rest well and enjoy life with Helen." Hayes said sincerely.
Everyone had seen how hard Hank worked all these years. Now that there was nothing left in the village that needed protecting with their lives, the old man could finally enjoy his retirement.
Olivia understood what Hayes meant and advised, "Village chief, Hayes is right. You should rest more."
"Ms. Smith is right. All these years I've been busy with village affairs and neglected my family. I should spend more time with my granddaughter."
As Hank spoke, he gripped Helen's small hand tightly. Thinking of when her life hung by a thread, he no longer hesitated and quietly made up his mind.
With the farewell at hand, Olivia told the villagers they didn't need to see them off any further. She and Christopher's group walked toward the sunlight outside the village.
Meanwhile, when Fuhrman received news of Philly's total defeat, his face looked as ugly as if he'd eaten something filthy—hard to describe.
He clenched his fists hard and punched in front of the messenger below, his face dark and terrifying, "Where's Philly?"
"Philly went south." His subordinate answered, trembling.
A dark gleam flashed in Fuhrman's eyes as he said eerily, "Does she know she lost and is too ashamed to come back and face me?"
The messenger below didn't dare respond.
Fortunately, Fuhrman didn't expect him to. He continued talking to himself, "No, that's not like Philly. She's extremely loyal. She wouldn't run away alone when her entire force was wiped out. Where's her subordinate Hestia?"
The servant answered shakily, "Hestia died at Sacred Flame Village. They say Christopher killed her."
"Is that so?"
As if remembering something, Fuhrman suddenly raised his eyebrows with interest, "If I remember correctly, Parker is still inside Christopher. Looks like the one who killed Hestia wasn't Christopher, but Parker."
Suddenly, he realized he'd overlooked something. His sharp eyes swept toward the man, "You just said Olivia took the unconscious Christopher back with her?"
"Yes, they're heading south now."
"Going after Philly?"
Fuhrman smiled with interest, "Looks like we need to meet our old friend before they do."
After speaking, he vanished in a flash.
That shameless Parker dared to make a move on Philly right under his nose. He would make him pay with his life.
Before sunset, Olivia and Christopher's group finally reached the outskirts of the Abyss. The Abyss was a glacier with year-round snow that never melted and extremely cold air.
As soon as Renata and Royal arrived outside the Abyss, they couldn't help shivering, "It's so cold here. No wonder they sealed the devil Parker in this place."
Snow-covered mountains stretched in all directions without a single living soul in sight. Facing this endless loneliness for thousands of years, no wonder Parker tried every means to get out of the Abyss, even willing to work with Fuhrman.
Royal suddenly had a realization, "Is he coming back to revive his physical body?"
"If he really revives his body, won't it be really hard to kill him?" Renata said, also somewhat worried.
Olivia's gaze fell on the distance. She shook her head, "Based on my understanding of Parker, he probably took his body with him the day he left the Abyss. If he's making a special trip back, there must be some secret hidden in the Abyss that he can't let go of."
"What could it be? Something he can't forget."
Renata and Royal were curious for a moment, but the snow ahead was too heavy. Apart from the endless glacier, they couldn't find a way in at all.
After looking for a while, Olivia withdrew her gaze and turned around, "Let's not rush in. Find a nearby village to rest."
On one hand, Christopher's body had just recovered and wasn't suitable for entering such an extremely cold place. On the other hand, before figuring out Parker's purpose, she wouldn't risk walking into a trap.
Thinking of the road they came from, Royal couldn't help saying, "But the nearest village is at least a hundred miles away."
"Then we'll go there."
Olivia smiled meaningfully, "Parker killed Philly's subordinate and took over her body. I'm sure Fuhrman has already received the news and is on his way here."
"Never mind that Philly and Fuhrman are close—he won't just let Parker run wild and lord it over him like this."
Christopher nodded in agreement, "Olivia's right. Parker's move is already a challenge to Fuhrman. Given his temperament, he won't just sit back and do nothing."
Hearing this, Renata and Royal also thought it made sense. They followed Olivia back to the nearest small town, Snowfall Town.
The town was only about a hundred miles from the glacier, but the sun shone brightly. Unlike the glacier's extreme cold and storms, the town was in full spring bloom with wonderful weather.
