Chapter 134: You think I care?

The sky over Jakarta looked dull that afternoon. Thick clouds covered the light, and it looked like it could rain at any moment.

Indra stood in front of the wide glass wall in his office. He looked out at the city, at the tall buildings that filled the view without end.

No matter what he tried, his thoughts kept going back to one person. His daughter.

He stood there and waited for the man behind him to say something.

“But Aria has not told me anything. Does she not know?” Indra asked, his voice low.

“I have not gone that far yet, sir. But this information is reliable. Your son in law is seeing his ex again,” the man replied.

Indra kept his eyes forward.

He used to believe Dominic was a good man, but now he knew better. Still, something did not add up. Why had Aria not said anything? Did she really not know, or was she hiding it?

At least he had never trusted Dominic completely from the start.

What kind of man divorces a woman and then marries her daughter? Even now, the thought sounded insane.

That was the life his daughter was living.

And his doubt had been right. Dominic was not as clean as he looked.

“Find out everything. I want to know if Aria is aware of this or not. Keep reporting to me,” Indra said.

The man nodded. “Yes, sir. I will update you as soon as I find anything.”

After the man left, Indra let out a heavy breath. He did not expect his family to end up like this.

His daughter would be the one to suffer. The one person he wanted to protect the most, yet he could not stop this from happening.

Aria was his only child. And still, he could not protect her.

What troubled him most was her silence. He could not believe she knew nothing. He felt sure she knew and chose to hide it.

Maybe it was because of love. That was how Aria loved. She would carry pain without saying a word, as long as the man she loved stayed happy.

Dominic had just finished showering after his workout. The kind of activity he would never admit to anyone. Aria was not home. She had gone out earlier and had not returned yet.

The house felt empty without her. She was usually full of energy, moving around the garden, filling the place with her presence. Now everything felt quiet.

Dominic turned on the television and flipped through channels, trying to distract himself, but nothing on the screen kept him interested.

Then the doorbell rang. He turned, stood up, and walked to the door. The moment he opened it, his body went cold.

“Why are you here?” he asked, staring at Jessie.

She was getting bolder every time. Instead of answering, Jessie smiled and threw herself into his arms. Dominic pulled her away at once. “Are you out of your mind?” he snapped under his breath.

Jessie pouted. “Why? Are you not happy to see me?”

“That is not it, but…”

“Then you are happy. I missed you, Dominic. I know you missed me too.”

She moved closer again, trying to kiss him, but he turned his head away.

“Jessie, listen to me. This is dangerous. If someone sees us..”

She let out a frustrated breath. “So you do not want me here? Why are you choosing her over me? You know I can satisfy you better.”

“It is not like that. You know I am married. I have a wife, so..”

“I know,” she cut in, her voice breaking as her eyes started to shine with tears.

Dominic cursed under his breath. He hated moments like this more than anything.

“I know you are married, and I am just the one you play with,” Jessie said.

“It is not like that, but..”

“If it is not like that, why are you pushing me away? I missed you,” she said, trying to hold onto him again.

He stepped back.

“Go home first. I will come to you later,” he said.

She shook her head. “I do not want later. I want you now. I miss you, especially this part.”

Dominic swore again when her hand moved lower.

“Jessie, go home. Please. I will come to your place later.”

“Jessie?”

Dominic felt his body go cold when he heard Aria’s voice.

“Jessie, what are you doing here?” Aria asked as she walked closer.

Both Dominic and Jessie turned.

“Geri?” Dominic added when he saw him standing beside Aria.

“Did you all plan this?” Aria asked, looking between them.

Dominic did not hesitate and used the moment to his advantage.

“Yes. We planned to hang out,” he said as he walked over and wrapped his arm around Aria.

“Oh, that makes sense. I saw Geri downstairs earlier. Come in, all of you,” Aria said like nothing was wrong.

Jessie shot Geri a dark look, while Geri stared back in disbelief. Was she really this desperate to ruin everything?

“You fucking parasite,” Jessie muttered once Dominic and Aria went inside.

Geri only gave a dry smile.

He never meant to come here in the first place. But when he saw Jessie entering the house earlier, he turned back and followed her.

Then he ran into Aria, who had just arrived carrying bags of food.

He could not leave after that. If Aria walked in and found Dominic alone with Jessie, he could already guess how that would end.

He stepped closer to Jessie. “You are worse than I thought. Have you no shame?”

“Shut up, Geri.”

“You should think straight for once. Aria has done nothing to you.”

“Nothing? You think she has done nothing? She took Dominic from me.”

“No one took him from you. You and Dominic were already over. Or do you want me to remind you why he left you?”

Jessie glared at him like she wanted him gone.

To her, Geri had become a problem she needed out of the way. Just like now. He had ruined everything.

“You will regret what you did today,” she said.

“Go ahead,” Geri replied. “I know what kind of person you are. If you keep going like this, you will be the one who loses.”

“You think I care?”

Jessie turned and walked away from the house, deciding not to go back inside.

She had already lost her mood. Geri went in briefly, said his goodbyes, and left not long after.

Aria watched everything, her mind racing as she tried to understand what she had just seen.
