Chapter 69 You're not my wife
Kael could not remember the last time he saw Miguel smile so fully and it made his heart cry in joy as he no longer had a reason to doubt his friend.
Miguel was about to put the bread in his mouth when he heard Dona scream from upstairs.
They all rushed over to her, only to see her wrapped in a towel and tons of birds dead on the floor of the room.
“What happened”?
Kael asked while she ran into Miguel's arms, seeking shelter.
“I don't know, I heard the glass shatter so I rushed out of the bathroom to check, only to see them all dead”.
She explained.
“Rave is becoming less creative by the day. Why does she always use the same method”?
Hazel said, looking bored and almost too unbothered.
She moved close to one of the birds lying dead, she took out the paper hanging on its claws.
“I need to see you, it's important. Come alone or you won't be able to save your son".
Hazel read and Kael immediately collected it.
“If she wanted me to come alone, she shouldn't have made her message so public”.
She said before walking out of the room, surprising Kael by how nonchalant she was acting.
She has been this way since she woke up this morning, not even bothered that Dona wasn't home but he brushed it off, feeling she was just tired.
But this confirmed that something was wrong.
Hazel would never just stay calm while hearing that Lucian's life was in danger.
“Is she okay”?
Miguel asked but Kael said nothing and just kept looking through the door she had walked out from.
When they got downstairs, they saw her back on the dinning table, eating with no care in the world.
Kael noticed she was even eating much more than she usually did.
“Hazel”?
He called but she didn't respond and just kept eating.
“What's going on"?
He asked and this time around, she raised her head to look at him.
“What do you mean? I'm just having breakfast”.
She replied but he shook his head.
“Something is wrong, this is not you… you wouldn't stay this calm knowing our son's life is in danger”.
Kael heard Hazel scoff before she raised her head to look at him again.
“Do you really believe Rave cares so much about Lucian that she would want to save him?
Don't worry, Lucian is fine. Nothing is going to happen to him.
But since I can't eat in peace, might as well just get some sleep”.
She said and stood up, stretching as she began walking away but suddenly, she ran back to him and held his hand in a plea.
“Kael, help our son”.
She said, the look in her eyes changing completely in those seconds before she went back to her cold state.
“You… you're not my wife”.
He said and Hazel smiled.
“Took you long enough”.
Kael moved back a bit, shocked and disgusted at himself for not noticing something had possessed his wife.
“What do you want? Who are you”?
Hazel put her pinky finger into her ear, scratching it and showing that he was bothering her.
“Don't worry, I don't have any plans of staying in this body for too long. All you need to do… is find my body, help me get into it, and she's all yours again.
She said with a creepy smile plastered on her face.
Kael was confused, he wasn't sure where this being was coming from, or why it suddenly possessed Hazel. He also knew he couldn't trust it as it could just be another trap to unlocking something more evil but he couldn't bring himself to think straight.
“Why are you doing this? Why her”?
He asked, Hazel stayed quiet for a while, looking like she had been wrongly accused of something as she pointed to herself, looking very serious before she spoke.
“You seem to be mistaken alpha Kael, I didn't come to her, she came to me. She found me, because she needs me. And all you need to do is find my body, so I can help her”.
She said and turned around to leave. But just before Kael could stop her, she turned back again
“Oh and also…”
She said, pointing at Kael.
“Don't you dare go to Rave. If anything, this is just a trap to get Hazel, and to get the golden orb from her.
And that would never happen, not now that I am here”.
She said, giving them a very flash smile before walking to her room.
Kael and Miguel stood surprised as to what they had just witnessed.
Kael dug his hand into his hair, confused as to what to do next. It would have been easier if he was able to talk to Hazel, but obviously this being inside of her would not let him speak to her which made the situation even more complicated as he wasn't very sure of what he was supposed to do.
“Do you think it is a good idea to actually find the body? We don't know what it is, we might as well be walking into a trap”.
Miguel said and Kael turned and looked at him sharply.
“What am I supposed to do? Let him live in her forever”?
He was becoming very anxious.
“Let's talk to Dona, she might know what is going on, and she might help us stop it”.
Kael looked back upstairs as he sighed.
While Kael was trying to figure out what to do, Hazel stood in front of the mirror and smiled but her reflection wasn't smiling back at her.
“Get out of my body”.
The reflection said, angrily.
“I can't do that Hazel, not until you find my body and bring it to me”.
She said and Hazel placed her hand on her head as she looked out the mirror.
“Why are you doing this? My son might be in danger, I need to save him”.
Hazel's smile vanished as she looked at the one in the mirror with a cold gaze.
“It's time you stopped acting based off of only emotions”.
She said and stood straight.
“There's no going back Hazel… you freed me already, remember”?
