Chapter 68 I love you
Dona woke up the next morning to an empty bed.
She looked around, wondering where he had gone.
Fear creeped in as the first thought that came to her mind was that he left because she couldn't satisfy him.
Her heart was beating fast when she suddenly heard the door open.
She turned, only to see him walking in with a food tray on his hand and a smile on his face.
Her face fell as she began to sob, using her hands to cover her face.
Miguel was surprised to see her like that as he had left her sleeping peacefully.
He dropped her food by the side and went to the bed, hugging her tightly and trying to comfort her.
“What's wrong, did you have a bad dream”?
He asked but she shook her head.
“I… I thought you left me”.
She said and he looked at her in shock.
“It's okay Dona, I didn't leave you. I will never leave you”.
He said, trying to reassure her and slowly, the tears began to seize.
She cleaned her eyes before looking at him.
“I wanted to do something nice for you, but I didn't want to wake you up”.
He said and she nodded, knowing his intentions were good.
“I know, I just… I was scared for a second”.
“That was a lot more than seconds”.
He said, teasing her and she hit his chest gently as they both smiled.
“Were you abandoned before”?
He suddenly asked and she sighed deeply before she finally nodded.
“My family abandoned me after my parents died and the people who took me in sold me to a pack of wolves to pay off their debt”.
She explain and he looked at her surprised, as he didn't know she had gone through anything like that.
“How could they do that to you? That's evil”.
He said and her lips raised a bit, seeing how worked up he looked.
“How did you survive with the werewolves? How did you escape”?
He asked and her head immediately raised as she looked at him with a “huh”?
She wasn't sure she wanted him to know about that yet.
That part of her life was messy and bloody. It was a dark part of her past she didn't want to relive and definitely a part she didn't want him to know about.
Shaking her head, she spoke.
“I'd rather not talk about it for now”.
She said and he nodded, not willing to push her at all.
“I'm sorry you had to go through all of that”.
He said but she shook her head.
“It's all in the past now, I was just worried”.
He held her shoulder and made her turn to him completely.
“Hey…”
He called, and held her chin up, causing her to look right into his eyes.
“I'm not going anywhere, I'll be right here… with you till the end of time”.
He said and she smiled, nodding as his words were very assuring.
“Dona”.
He called almost in a whisper.
“I love you”.
He said and her heart skipped a beat. She knew they had grown feelings for each other, she knew there were sparks between them but hearing him say he loved her just made her get a whole different feeling.
“Do you mean that”?
She asked, trying not to get swayed easily.
Miguel nodded.
“I do, I mean every single word. And I'm ready to keep proving it to you for as long as I live”.
He said and she smiles before wrapping her arms around his neck.
“Me too, I love you Miguel".
She said and he smiled brightly before hugging her right back with his hands on her tiny waist.
Dona dug her face into his neck and he could feel the shivers going through his body.
He knew she'd still be very sore from last night and it would be inconsiderate for him to take her again even though he wanted to do that more than anything.
“Okay, have you're breakfast so we can leave”.
He said, moving away before his restraint breaks.
She nodded, oblivious of what she had just done to him.
He handed her the tray of food and went to take a shower.
She looked at the food for a pretty long while, just appreciating how lucky she became.
She finally got something she never thought she'd get and she felt the bond of family after losing it for so long.
She couldn't help but thank Hazel in her heart for bringing her along to Nightshade.
He soon came out of the bathroom with a towel tied around his waist and his hair dripping.
She couldn't help but admire his gorgeous body and even though she still felt very sore down there, she could feel herself getting wet just by imagining her hand on his body.
“Like my body that much huh”?
She nodded subconsciously before she noticed he was teasing and immediately shook her head.
“Uhm… no, I didn't… you caught me off guard”.
He moved closer to her and kissed her lightly on her lips before speaking.
“I would love to eat you up till your legs are too weak to stand, but I'll hold myself just until all this is over”.
He said and she nodded with a blush on her cheeks.
Soon, she was done eating and they left for Kael's place.
When they arrived, Kael, Hazel and Lucian were having breakfast.
“Where have you been and… why are you guys coming together”?
Kael asked, pointing at their joint hands.
“Dona is his mate".
Hazel said before putting some food in her mouth nonchalantly and Kael looked at them surprised.
“What”?
Miguel looked at him before moving closer and sitting on the dinning with them while Dona went upstairs to freshen up.
“I thought you knew”.
He said and Kael gave him a look of disbelief.
“How would I know when you never told me”!!
Miguel picked up a piece of bread and began coating it with jam.
“I didn't? I thought I did”.
“Miguel”!!
Kael yelled and Miguel smiled.
