Chapter 55 A field of flowers
Kael remained silent for a while, just trying to figure out who this new figure in the picture was. He would have asked Lucifer if he had known on time but he didn't and the man only ever came when he felt like it.
Hazel looked at him after a while, noticing he wasn't speaking.
“Kael”?
She called, drawing his attention.
“Mnn, I'm here, just thinking”.
He looked serious in his thoughts and words, if he wasn't joking about the issue before, he was a lot more serious about it now than ever.
“We've let it get way out of hand. It's time to start feeding them exactly what they plant”.
His voice was stern and cold. He looked eager to end all of it.
“We can't go in blindly Kael".
She said, placing her hand on his chin and pulling his face gently so he would look at her.
“I noticed something about Rave. She's becoming very impatient and she's acting in haste”.
She added.
“I think we can use her haste to find a weakness. I'll try everything possible to find this golden orb, whatever it is before she does.
Whatever it is, I'm sure it will give us a much upper hand than her. But no matter what, we have to be sharp and cautious”.
She said and he nodded.
“Won't you sleep, you need your rest”.
She asked but he simply smiled and kissed her lightly.
“You go ahead, I'll stay up a little bit longer”.
He said and she stood up with a nod before going back to bed.
The next morning, she woke up to him fully dressed and ready to go out.
“Where are you going”?
She asked
“Going to pay someone a quick visit”.
Hazel could tell he didn't sleep a wink at all last night and she sighed a bit sad about it.
She knew he was this way because of the issues of the pack but she also knew getting agitated was only going to stress him out and give very little result.
Yet, she nodded, not asking him any questions and he seemed to appreciate that as he smiled at her and kissed her forehead gently.
“I'll be back soon”.
She smiled and watched him leave.
She couldn't deny that she also felt uneasy and just wanted to end all of it.
“This wouldn't be happening to them if you weren't in their lives”.
The words Rave said to her kept replaying in her head but she couldn't bring herself to leave them. Without Lucian and Kael, she wasn't sure she really had a reason to live anymore.
Hazel stayed in bed, trying to think.
She was thinking of what she needed to do.
“What do we do”?
She suddenly heard Dove speak.
“I don't know. According to Rave, I am somehow supposed to know where this golden orb is. But I don't even know what it is”.
Hazel looked frustrated, frustrated at the fact that she didn't know anything.
Frustrated at the fact that it seems everyone had a clue about everything going on except for her.
“Could it have anything to do with your mom? Or…”
Her eyes opened wide when she heard what Dove said.
“That's right, moms box”.
She immediately jumped up but Dove stuttered.
“Ohh… I… I meant the source".
Hazel dismissed her words.
“Please, that woman is useless to me right now”.
She said, rushing to Lucian room.
She needed to check. She needed to see everything in the box.
If she could get a clue from it, she would be very grateful.
She opened it and saw a few things like random notes and then noticed a book that looked like a small diary.
She picked it up and was about to open it to see what was inside it.
“Do you think it's right to open her diary”?
Dove asked but Hazel scoffed.
“Oh please, she's dead. And since when did you care”?
As soon as she opened the diary, she immediately sank into the diary and found herself in a field filled with flowers.
“The hell, where am I”?
She looked around, wondering what was going on.
The moment she opened the book, she closed her eyes because of how bright it was but she didn't know when or how she suddenly landed in a field of flowers.
“I didn't think you'd ever find this”.
She heard a woman speak and she turned to look at her immediately.
As soon as she turned, her tensed body relaxed a little and she blinked several times.
“Mom”?
She called and the woman smiled, opening her hands, inviting her in for a hug.
Hazel wasn't sure when the tears began to fall out but she rushed to her and hugged her, crying in her arms.
“Oh my baby, my little princess”.
Her mom kept patting her back and consoling her.
They stayed that way for a while before parting and even Hazel didn't know she needed that until now.
After a while, they sat on the floor, and Hazel couldn't stop looking at her mom.
She was happy to see the woman and even though she didn't really recognize her as she died when she was still very little, she knew for sure that this woman was indeed her mom.
“Your father swore he wasn't going to let you find this”.
She said and Hazel raised a brow.
“Dad knew about it”?
She asked but her mom smiled.
“Mathias didn't know what was in it and he still doesn't as it was always meant for only you to see, but he knew it had to do with me and he didn't want you to know about me”.
Hazel was confused as to why her dad hated her mom this much. Yes, they didn't marry for love but the least he could do was show her memories to her only child.
“Why would he do that"?
She asked, truly curious.
“There was no specific reason, he just never liked me. But that is not what is important”.
She said, looking serious and Hazel looked at her.
“You need to listen to me seriously”.
Hazel nodded, listening attentively.
“You don't have any other mother, don't believe or trust anyone”.
