Chapter 108 Familiar Plan
Romeo discarded the restaurant's manager respectfully, after they made sure no one else was going to overhear their conversation, they continued to address the issue on ground.
Romeo pulled Giovanni aside, "how could you do that, Giovanni?"
Giovanni arched a brow. "How was I supposed to know she was married and involved with your company? With a kid! I had a one night stand Romeo, not everyone is as committed as you are. Even in your bachelor years, you did not hook up with any woman. You're perfect but I'm not."
Romeo gave a roll of his eyes. "This is not about me being perfect, besides I'm not. I didn't do any of that because I chose not to. And I spent my nights at the company while others spent theirs at a club."
Giovanni scoffed. "Oh please, that's just an excuse. What about college years? Even the time you spent with me in Japan, you are too good for your own health."
"My college years were pretty wild, Giovanni, believe it or not. Not in the hooking aspect because I was committed to my girlfriend but I enjoyed some club time with my friends. And you and I, we have fun all the time and you know that.
"Anyway, forget this talk, I don't even need these kind of words implanted in my head when my marriage is at the door." Romeo shrugged off the talk.
Giovanni immediately cleared himself. "Don't misinterpret me bro, I'm not advising you to do anything bad or stupid. I only hooked up with her because currently, I am single and I very drunk, I would never cheat on my woman and I would never advise any man to do that.
"Loving one woman is really a treasure. So tell me, you love this one right? It isn't any form of contract marriage, right?"
"Definitely not. You know me. I am a man who goes by the book but I can also stray from the pages if it is not to my favor." Romeo said with a smile on his face, his emerald eyes glistening with joy.
No words were needed for Giovanni to know that Romeo truly loved his woman. Just the mention of her had made such love to glow in his eyes, those kind of feelings were far from ordinary.
Giovanni smiled. "I want to find my own-- what's her name again? Cara? Yeah, I want to find my own Cara too."
Romeo let out a soft chuckle and touched Giovanni's shoulder lightly. "I'm so sorry to burst your bubble but you can never find another like her. She's unique, one of a kind. A rare gem."
"There's more than one rare gem in this world, buddy, I hope you know. It might take time but I'll find my own."
Romeo grinned. "Sure."
Cara walked up to them just then. "I don't know what is going on but you two have been grinning like high school students in love and I want to know how it is going to help the situation on ground."
Romeo cleared his throat lightly. "Right, I totally forget."
Cara turned to look at him, surprised by his comment. Before she could say anything, Giovanni spoke up.
"Listen, It was a mistake, just two drunk fools in a club who had nothing better to do than to hook up but I don't want to get blamed for it cause I didn't go to her house to have sx with her. We were both in a club, I asked and she said yes. That's how one night stands work."
Cara rolled her eyes. Jessica was such a whre. Had she always been like that? Had she been the one oblivious to the truth the whole time?
"I am not blaming you, honestly, I don't even know you." Cara finally responded.
"I plan on changing that. I'd like you yo see me as your brother in law and I am not a bad person, I would have never slept with your friend if I knew that she was married with a child." Giovanni explained.
"She's not my friend," Cara glanced at where Jessica was sitting, she folded her arms below her breasts. "We just keep on getting entangled in each others business no matter how much I dislike it."
Romeo's arms slid around her shoulders and he rubbed them gently.
Cara sighed. "Well, we wanted her to actually apologize for what she did and I still want that apology. Can you pretend like you two have never met before?" She asked Giovanni.
Giovanni stared at the woman he had slept with, remembering her naked body in his bed. She had disappeared from his bed by the time he woke up, probably regretting her actions.
He wondered what she could have possibly been going through to make her so determined to have unprotected sx with a stranger.
He wanted to ask her, to find out her pain, to talk to her. But it was best if he didn't. Not that he was catching any feelings, it would be useless since she was married with a kid anyway, but he just wanted to talk to her.
He looked away from her and focused on Cara. "I should be able to."
"I don't need that, I want certainty." She said in a white stern tone.
Romeo wandered why she was so worried about Jessica, someone who caused her a lot of pain. It was unlike her to want to hide something like that knowing they could use it against Jessica. Not that he wanted to be that petty.
He just did not know why his fiancée was so involved but he did not ask her either.
Cara herself did not know why she was truing so hard to hide the matter, after all, Jessica was her enemy. She should be willing to use such information to destroy her, knowing well that Jessica would not hesitate before doing so.
But maybe because she could relate, maybe because she knew how it felt, the number of times she was tempted to escape, at least for one night, to be out of Chris' family prison.
The number of times she wanted to feel nothing but happiness. The number of criticism she received for not having a child, all the pain she went through, Jessica was probably going through the same thing.
She sighed.
