Chapter 84 84
"She's going to be fine." Liam said, seeing Jade's lips tremble and her face darken. She was about to cry.
"Granny said she would soon be awake. Even grandpa asked to us to wait, that's she would soon wake up." She said, referring to Miller, Liam's father. He hadn't know his father had been in contact with the kids, but it definitely wasn't the right time to ask, not when they were about to cry.
"Is mommy going to wake up?" Jace looked at him with eyes filled of unspoken words and Liam knelt down in front of the two kids.
"I'm sorry for failing to protect Alexandra. But I promise you, kids, your mommy would be fine." He said, his eyes tearing up. He couldn't believe how many times he had cried in a month after saying he was resistant to emotions but hll, these three people brought out the truth in him.
The kids came closer to him and hugged him tightly and soon after, he felt his shoulders get warm. Jade was crying.
He patted her hair slowly while she cried and gave Jace a pat on the back, as Jace just hugged him there, his eyes open, staring at Alexa.
He thought he saw her eyes flutter.
"Mommy!" He gasped, pulling away from Liam's embrace and rushing to Alexa.
"Alexa." Jade went to the bed too and Liam turned immediately, hoping it was real.
It was, her eyes were open. They were open.
"Alexandra." Liam called in shock, a tear escaping from his eyes as he stared at her. His eyes went to hers and she squeezed it tight, knowing it was him.
"I'm so so sorry." He muttered, sniffing when a tear escaped from his eyes.
"Don't be." She mouthed and gave a small smile.
Liam couldn't hold it. He pulled his fingers away and walked out of the room, tears exploding from his eyes. Was he happy? Were these tears of joy or of guilt? He just couldn't hold them back. His heart was bubbling but he felt so...so....
"Liam." Cassidy called, seeing him cry at the hallway.
"Are you okay?" She asked worriedly.
Liam smiled, cleaning his face as he took a deep breath, "She's awake." He said.
"What?" Cassidy didn't waste time as she forgot her initial anger and worry and got into the room with a new mindset of happiness.
"Alexa!" She hit the sick patient's leg before realizing.
"Ahh." Alexa groaned.
"Don't hit mum, she's sick." Jace pushed Cassidy away hardly.
"Oh, I'm so sorry." Cassidy muttered in apology as she suddenly broke into a laughter.
"I'm so excited." She jumped.
"She's getting better. I can say in a week or two, she'll be out of the hospital." The doctor said and Liam nodded with smiles.
"Thank you." He said excitedly and the doctor nodded in response before he left.
"Darling." Antonia held Alexa's hand with a a smile.
"She needs a lot of fruits to get better quickly. What's that your secretary name, Elias?" Miller looked at Eugene.
"You." He snapped when Eugene didn't reply.
"Oh, it's Eugene sir." Eugene stepped forward.
"You need to get Alexa a lot of fruits. Use this to the max. It's my card." He pulled out a black card, handing it over to Eugene. Eugene's eyes widened in shock as he stared at the card with glee.
"Alright sir." He suddenly pulled Doreen's hand as they left the room.
"I'm really fine. You don't have to do all these." Alexa muttered.
"Com'n. Let him spend his money as he chose. You don't have to worry." Antonia said.
"Granny, can we get a black card each?" Jade asked curiously and Miller chuckled.
"You kids need a black card?" He hit his rod on the floor and touched Jade's chin, "Of course. There is nothing I can't do for you. You'll get it by tomorrow." He said.
"Yay." Jade jumped and brought out a tongue to her mother.
"Don't spend money recklessly, Jade." Jade said calmly and she turned to look at him.
"It's my card. I'll do whatever I like with it. Why don't you do yours?" She asked and humped.
The door opened and Louisa rushed in with a large bag, "Food is here." She said excitedly.
"Food." Jade and Jace immediately rushed to her.
Liam held her hair in his hands, brushing it slowly while she sat in front of the mirror.
"You still have beautiful hair." He muttered lightly and she smiled a bit.
"I put a lot of consideration into taking care of my hair." She said and he chuckled.
"Alexa." He slowly turned her chair to face him, "I'm sorry for everything. I should never...."
"I'm tired of you apologizing, Liam. I think I understand. You would want to protect the person you love even if it means leaving them. It wasn't so clear before but it is now." She muttered.
"I would never let anyone harm you again." He said seriously and she held his hand.
"I know." She whispered. Their eyes locked for a long time and the silence between them became heated.
"I..." Alexa tried to say something she had no idea of, knowing what could come next. Liam took the initiative and moved closer to her, kissing her slowly.
Then he pulled away, half expecting her to get mad and go crazy but instead she pulled him by the collar and kissed him heatedly. He accepted, going on his knees fully to take control of the kiss.
Their tongues fought for dominance in their mouth, saliva mixing with each other. It's been so long since he'd tasted her, it's been so long she'd tasted him. It's been a whole five years between them. Could they recover? Or should they just focus on the future?
No.
They would focus on now and nothing else. Something different night happen tomorrow, something worse, something more painful than the past. But right now, they would focus on the present. Nothing else, just now. Their present.
