Chapter 55 55
Alexandra gave a small laugh, throwing her head backwards.
"Really, Alexandra. When the dream came, I knew you would just be the best." Louisa said seriously.
"Mum." Alexa said cockily, "Don't tell me you believe in conception dreams?" She asked.
"If I didn't, I would not have told you." Louisa smirked.
"Fine then. And I am the best." Alexa shrugged proudly.
Louisa pulled her close in a tight hug, "Yes, you are. I'm proud of the woman you have become, Alexa. But you can never be complete with a father for these kids. I would not force you to love Liam again. But I wouldn't want my grand children to grow up with a father just like you did. I know you don't want that too." Louisa shook her head.
"I grew up perfectly fine."
"No, you didn't, Alexa. You didn't know how to love because you didn't have parents to teach you how to. That was why you fell head over heels for him even when he had another woman in his heart. It was because of that reason you pursued Liam. But now, you have learnt better. You can do better this time around. Please try to accept love again and if it's not with Liam, with anyone else." She said.
Alexandra gulped down nothing and she wrapped her arms around her mother, hugging her tight.
Doreen walked into the large office, some files in her hand. She placed them right in front of Alexa.
"What are these?" Alexa ran her hands through the files softly.
"The designs from the members. They are very enthusiastic about this new project." Doreen said excitedly.
"Oh really?" Alexa smiled.
"Yeah. Even Helix and Co. brought some designs they would like for us to do." Doreen said and Alexa's face changed.
"Why would they do that?" She turned her head.
"Ryder is a shareholder, is it not right if he brings some ideas?" Doreen asked.
"Ryder is a shareholder. Not Helix and Co."
"He bought the shares with their name."
"What?" Alexa's eyes thinned slowly.
"What do you mean he bought shares from us under Helix and Co's name? What exactly is wrong with him and Mr Colt who sold his shares just like that!?" Alexandra glared angrily and immediately turned her computer on, going to the list of shareholders in the company.
A total of 4.93% of their shares had Ryder acquired. Why was he so innovative!?
Doreen stared at Alexa for a long time, contemplating whether she should drop the black envelope in her hand.
"What's that in your hands?" Alexa's curiosity got the better part of her and that was the clue Doreen needed.
She placed the envelope on the table and moved it closer to Alexa, "New York is invited on the world's runway show."
Alexa nodded her head slowly as she opened the paper, "Am I being invited to design?" Her eyes couldn't contain the excitement she felt when she saw the invitation directed to her, from the house of fashion itself. This was something from the table of the President.
"Yes." Doreen folded her lips inwards, as she tried to hold her smile. The smile on Alexa's face was contagious.
"But you are going to do it with someone." Doreen finally broke the accompanying words.
"Of course, we'll need models. Why don't we use-"
"Glamour Holdings." Doreen interrupted.
"We could use models from their Gazette Modelling Institute." She added and Alexa furrowed her brows.
"Is this you bringing a suggestion or..." She trailed off, waiting for Doreen to reply.
"It's not a suggestion ma. It's the direct words from the Minister of Fashion and I quote..." Doreen cleared her throat, "Due to the recent controversy which has gone worldwide, we would choose Velvet Vixen and Glamours Holdings' Gazette Modelling Institute as our runaway holders for the year. Apart from the fact that no one could beat them in their respective associations, it can also be used to tell the world that not even marriage issues stop business from working out. We are still one!" Doreen took a long breath after she ended her sentence.
"Are you for real?" Alexandra dropped the paper in annoyance, "This is bullshit." She muttered, "This wasn't given to me because they knew we merited it, it was given because they wanted to settle a dispute." Alexandra smirked.
"So you are not doing it?" Doreen asked.
"Why not? Just because Glamour Holdings is in it doesn't mean I wouldn't do it." Alexandra shrugged.
"It is just like you are working with Glamour Holdings." Doreen said, raising an eye brow.
"This is our chance to get a world wide rating and go global. If this works out, our company would be the top 0.01 in the world. Are you saying we should miss this opportunity?" She asked.
"Of course not. I pray we do not miss it. I'm going to send your reply of interest to them and also set up a meeting with Mr Jordans."
"With who?" Alexandra's head flipped to the side.
"Mr Jordans of course. We'd have to talk about the process and also the materials used. We'll have a lot of things to discuss. I doubt there'd be a day where you won't cross paths with him." Doreen giggled and rushed out of the office while Alexandra released a deep sigh.
She'd been avoiding him for the past three days and know she'd have to meet him. It was crazy. Almost two months when she came back to New York, she didn't think all these could be a problem because she didn't know they'll happen. But right now.... Alexandra released another sigh. She was confused.
Her phone beeped at that moment and she looked at it, her eyes slowly widening in shock and suprise. How had she totally forgotten?
The series of events had been so much and all over her that she had totally forgotten about this.
She immediately switched to a call,
"Cassidy." She called the moment her bestie picked.
"What is it? I'm really busy at the shop right now."
"The kid's birthday is in a week's time."
"Oh my God, what!?"
