Chapter 41 Forty one
"They are married?" Someone asked in the crowd and suddenly cameras started flashing from.the background. This was a good day to get a perfect news to water the mouths of the citizens.
Liam held Alexa's hand and tried to pull her out with the kids but she pulled her hand away, "Say something."
"If you think I'm going to deny the fact that I'm the father of the kids, then get that thought out of your mind."
"So should I deny them? Should I?!"
"Alexandra, how can you think like this, those kids are ours. No matter what the public say about us, I'm not fazed. I will never deny them." He said and Alexandra pursed her lips, with an angry expression on her face.
"Jace, Jade. Let's go." Alexandra said and the twins nodded as they followed her off the stage. Liam walked behind them.
"Her...her trophy." The MC said to the lady behind him and she nodded immediately as they rushed after her with the gold trophy.
The moment Alexandra and Liam walked out of the building, the paparazzi started fully and cameras flashed before them in repetition.
"Mom, why are they capturing us?" Jade asked, scared as she tried to hide behind Alexandra.
"Because you are popular, dear. It means you are a queen." Liam bent down in front of her and picked her up in his arms, letting her hide in the crook of his shoulders. He held Jace's hand tightly in his other free hand, so he wouldn't be pulled away by the crowd.
"Mr Jordans and Mrs Chapman, a moment please." One of the reporters shouted and Alexandra was stuck on her feet. She stooped, blinking at the lights of the cameras, her face pale. It wasn't how she expected it to be, not for everyone to find out this way.
"Hold your mommy's hand." Liam said softly to Jace and he held her hand, his warm flesh, slowly pulling her along while Liam took the lead. The reporters rushed after them.
"What do you have to say about the revelation of your kids?"
"Are you guys married or secretly planning a wedding?"
"Are you in a relationship?"
"Is Liam Jordans really the father of the two kids?"
Liam stopped this time around at the mention of the paternity of his kids, the others made way for the reporter who asked the question and Liam stared at him sternly.
"The kids are mine. Never you ask such a obvious and stupid question like that again." He said and directed his gaze to others.
"I don't want any of you to ask foolish question paternity to I, Alexandra and the twins. If you have any disturbances, you can talk to my secretary." Liam said and immediately pulled them and walked out of the place.
The car door was quickly opened for them, so he dropped the twins at the back and helped Alexa get it before entering and he drove out of the place.
"Are you alright?" He asked, turning to stare at Alexa and she looked at him, through the corner of her eyes.
"Just drop us home."
"You can talk to me."
"I don't want to talk." She said quickly, "Especially not to you and not this night. It's been a lot."
"Do you feel betrayed by the guy who gave you plagiarized designs?" He went on asking and Alexa bit her lips in frustration, then she decided to take the matter by the head.
"Not really. I feel betrayed, but not as much as I feel disgusted." She said.
"You won't ask me why?" She asked, when Liam kept quiet and his fingers tightened on the steering wheel.
"I don't think you want to talk about that with the children watching." Liam said and she turned back a little to see Jade and Jade staring at them quietly.
"Are you guys about to fight?" Jace asked and Alexandra's eyes watered. This was the main reason she didn't want Liam back in their lives. Pretending to be the perfect father, wanting to be a good husband and causing pain where there was none. The children were fine with her only.
"No." She replied.
"It's fine. My classmates say their parents argue sometimes. Little arguments bring the relationship closer, I heard."
"No, Jace. Fights break relationships."
"No mom, you are wrong. Me and Jace argued sometimes but we still get closer. You just don't want to settle with dad!" Jade cried out.
"Jade, that's not the point." Alexandra groaned.
"Then what's the point? Did you see your face when we called dad on the podium? You were annoyed when the public found out that he was our dad. We are not ashamed of him? What gives you the right to be ashamed of him for us-"
"Jade!" Alexandra shot and she went quiet immediately, a tear slipping from her eyes. Alexandra bit her inner lips tightly as she stared at the twins.
"You guys will stay with your dad tonight. Liam, drop me off." She said and Liam looked at her.
"Alexandra, you-"
"Liam, please." She said and he sighed, turning to the parking area. Alexandra got down from the car and he stared at her.
"I'll call-"
"Don't call me, I'll come pick the kids up tomorrow morning."
"Let them stay with me till Monday." He said and she nodded once, before he drove off. She sighed deeply, cold air escaping her lips as her eyes got glassy.
A car stopped at her front and Ryder came down from it, rushing towards her.
"Alexandra, what are you doing here?" He asked.
"I want to be alone." She said.
"Not here. It's too cold outside." He said and pulled his jacket, placing it on her shoulders before he helped her into the car. He drove off without saying a word and Alexa was grateful for that.
"Thank you." She muttered when he dropped her in front of her house.
"It's nothing." Ryder said and she smiled a bit, pulling his jacket and giving it back to him.
"Call me if you need someone to cry on. I'll never be too busy to pick up your call." He said.
"That's... reassuring." She muttered and he nodded, pulling her by her hand. She hit his chest hardly and Ryder hugged her tightly.
"I'll... always be here for you."
A camera flashed.
