Chapter 37 Thirty seven
"You tried to scare them?" Alexa raised her brow at Ryder.
"Of course not. I never even knew they were your kids at that time." Ryder said, "I think she was just being scared of my stature." He smiled.
"You had a mean look on your face." Jade retorted.
"No, I didn't. You didn't even give me the chance to talk to you." Ryder was about to pat her hair but she moved backwards immediately, shoving his hand away.
"Mom, it's late. Let's go in." She said and held Alexa's hand, dragging her into the house.
"Goodnight." Ryder said just before Alexa got into the house, Jace followed after them, casting a glare on Ryder before he went in.
"I think your kids hate me." Ryder shook his head.
"And they don't usually hate people. They are very nice, so if they hate you, it simply means something is wrong somewhere." Liam smirked. Ryder chuckled as he turned to look at Liam.
"Nothing can possibly be wrong anywhere."
"Do you mean to say the kids hate you for no reason?" Liam raised a brow.
"Exactly what I'm trying to say." Ryder affirmed and Liam sighed.
"Then that means it can't be fixed. If they knew the reason they hate you, they'll try to fix it. But being uncomfortable with you for no reason, simply means they have nothing to fix." He smirked.
"Are you trying to settle things with Alexa?" Ryder squinted his brows and Liam blinked.
Ryder scoffed when no words formed from Liam's lips. He patted him slowly before turning and going into his car, then he drove out.
Liam sighed watching the gate close automatically and then he walked to the door just to find out that it was already locked. He gulped down, biting his lips as he dropped anither sachet bag in front of the house and then turned going into his car.
Alexa rushed down the stairs, early the next morning, her hair in her hand as she tried to pack it. She opened the door from inside and Cassidy walked in.
"What is this? It was lying at your front door this morning." Cassidy walked inside, the sachet bag in her hand as she handed it over to Alexa.
"Aunt Cassy." Jade hit her legs together in excitement and Cassidy brushed past Alexa's, going to the dining room to hug the kids, she ruffled Jace's hair.
"I just brushed my hair!" Jace shot and Cassy looked at her palm, it was greasy.
"You gelled it too? What's going on?" Cassidy asked in suprise.
"There's an investment going on in the school and Jace's been chosen to thank them on behalf of the junior class." Alexa said absentmindedly as she pulled out what was in the package.
"Ooh, so that's why you gelled your and put on a fancy suit. You look like a prince." Cassidy smiled, but Jace still had his face scrunched up in a scowl.
"Aren't you going to fix my hair?" He asked.
"I...I'm an hair stylist. I'll help you do something better." Cassidy said.
"No, I want it exactly the way mom did it."
"But I didn't see it before I ruffled it."
"That's why you shouldn't ruffle my hair that way." Jace argued and Cassidy's mouth fell open.
"I'll do it for you,Jace." Alexa said.
"No, mom. You are very busy catching the culprit. Aunt Cassy will do it, I'll describe it exactly." He said, looking sternly at Cassy and Cassy looked back in a fighting contest.
She gave up.
"He's exactly like his father." She muttered as she walked back to Alexandra, a balm in her hand.
"Oh my God. The foot balm. It's really fvcking expensive and works like crazy. Was it a delivery?" Cassidy asked, as she pulled it out of Alexandra's hand.
"You can have it." Alexa shrugged.
"Dad bought that for you, mom." Jace said without looking at her and Alexa squinted her eyes.
"When did you-"
"Mom, don't ask that. Whether Jace likes it or not, Dad is our daddy. And so, he has to call him that. Besides, we have an agreement. Right, Jace?" Jade looked at him with a cunning smile and he frowned.
"I don't remember that." He replied, "Anyway, mom, it's not good to give a gift to someone. Especially if it's from our dad." He stared at Alexa.
"Did he tell you this? To make me accept it?"
"No. He ordered for it to be dropped at home. But the craziest thing happened, mom. The delivery bike broke down so dad had to go meet him and take it. I saw the address for it and it was our house. That was the reason we came home late last night, but you were with that guy, you didn't ask." Jade pursed her lips at the last sentence.
"What guy?" Cassidy stood beside her like a nursery student being punished.
"Mr Welland." Alexa whispered back.
"You have been going out on dates behind my back?" Cassidy whispered with wide eyes.
"He's nice." Alexa said.
"Mom, we see ready to go to school." Jace pulled his bag, annoyingly from the table and walked towards Alexa.
"But you are not done with breakfast yet." Alexa pointed out.
"I'm not hungry any more." He said.
"Your ha-"
"Daisy would help him fix it at school." Jade interrupted.
"Who's Daisy?" Alexa asked.
"Alice's friend?" Jade replied with a raised brow.
"Alice is a bully, why are you with her friend?"
"Because Daisy is different from Alice and she like Jace." Jace pressed his hand Iver Jade's mouth but the words were already out.
"What is going on?" Cassidy blinked in shock and Alexa sighed, closing her eyes. This was crazy.
She picked her car keys and her bag and all four of them walked out of the house. While Cassidy took her car and left to her styling company, Alexa took the kids to school.
"One thing dad told us to tell you," Jade said as she came down from the car, "is to wear sandals instead of heels."
