Chapter 36 Thirty six
Alexa pulled her legs away from his hands and he looked up at her.
"I don't need your help. I wear whatever I want." She said.
"It's hurting you."
"Aren't you embarrassed by what you are doing? You have a lot of reputation and there are many eyes here." She said and he paused at her words as he got up. He had said these exact words to her seven years ago when they went to a party. She remembered.
"I..."
"Leave." She said, fisting her hands.
Liam sighed slowly as he turned and left the restaurant, a block hard in his chest. He grunted, dragging his tie from his neck to give him space to breathe. He got into his car and hit his head on the steering, his eyes closed and face tired.
He was sorry, really sorry but Alexa was bent on making things hell for him. She had his kids and he wanted her back. He always wanted her back. God knows how many times he searched for her during their five years apart but she had been really good in keeping her identity hidden and now she wants to take his kids away from him. He could beg her for the rest of his life if she was the only one but with his kids, he had limited time.
His phone rang out loud, interrupting his reverie and he picked up immediately.
"Boss, your ex girlfriend is here causing a huge havoc!" He screamed and Liam sighed, tightening his hands on his phone as he closed his eyes.
"Keep her calm, I'll be there soon." He said and cut the call. He glanced at the direction of Alexa and Ryder one last time, before he turned on his car and drove off.
~~
"I know you hate him, but I think you should wear it." Ryder said, staring at her injured ankle.
"I will get another shoe." Alexa refused as she placed the flip-flops into the black package bag and was about to throw it into the trashbin.
Ryder caught her hand, shaking his head, "The next shop from here doesn't deal with quality. I'm pretty sure Liam went far to get this." He said.
"Why are you supporting him?" She asked before she could think and Ryder raised a brow.
"Never mind." She ended the conversation and he smiled, taking the flops from her and bending down. He pulled her legs out of her heels and helped her put the flops on.
"Thank you." Alexa muttered as she stared at him and he raised his head, their eyes locking in together.
He smiled and she got lost for a moment, a tug in her heart. She gulped as she cleared her throat and looked away.
Ryder took the black package bag from her and dropped her heels inside it, holding it fro her till they got to the car, walking side by side.
"Can I drop you off at your house?" He asked and she rolled her eyes.
"I don't think I want you to know my house just yet." She said.
"Does Liam knows your house?" Ryder asked, catching her unaware and she nodded her head slowly, staring at him as he held the steering tight, his knuckles tight.
"I feel jealous." He admitted and she blinked, her breath stopping for a moment. Her heart raced in her chest and she shook.
"Why...do you..." She managed to stutter the words out and Ryder turned to look at her, leaning closer until his breath rested on her face. Hot, full of desire as his eyes bored int her.
"I want to all that Liam was. He got to know you had an injury in your leg and bought you shoes. He knows your house, he knows your kids. You have history together. I don't...like that." He confessed.
"Why?" She breathed out, her heart threatening to break out of her rib cage. Blush found its way to her cheeks but she stared at him, like she was unaffected.
"I like you, Alexandra. I'm interested in you." He said.
"I'm...."
"If you aren't ready,it's fine. And about your kids, I would love to be their new father."
"Can we talk about this sometime else. I feel stuffed." She muttered and he nodded. She let out a breath as she relaxed back into her chair but he suddenly came closer, helping her with the seat belt.
"Thank you." She said and he nodded, a smile on his lips as he started the car and drove out of the restaurant, going straight to her house.
"I guess you know my house now." She said as she came down and he chuckled.
"I'm glad. It's beautiful. No one would expect a lady to have such a house." He commented and she raised her brow.
"What's wrong with a lady having a mansion herself?"
"I mean, ladies are not usually known for making it themselves, unless their parents are rich." He said and she sighed.
"Thank God, I don't think like that. Do you? Are you one of those people who feels like women shouldn't get up for their selves?" She asked seriously and Ryder opened his mouth to speak but no words came out from them and he rubbed his sweaty palms together.
"No words?" She asked.
"I don't think that way. Women are humans too. They have dreams to fulfill." He said calmly and she smiled.
"I'm glad you think that way. It would have been a shame." She chuckled and he laughed clamping his hands together. He took a step towards her and with his cold fingers, brushed her hair away from her face.
She gulped, staring at him as he leaned in closer.
"Mom." Jade's voice suddenly broke the moment and she staggered backwards, recovering herself.
"Jade. Where are you...." She looked up to see Liam with Jace, both of them staring at her as Jade rushed to her.
"What were you about to do to my mom?" Jade stepped in front of her, her hands folded.
"Little..." Ryder tried to touch her hair.
"Don't... touch me. I'm not scared of you right now." She said.
"You know him?" Alexa asked.
"Yeah, he tried to scared us but dad was there." Jace stepped forward.
