Chapter 22 Sex Fiend
Days passed since that Elder Council meeting. Even though nothing had been sent by the World Council, Raina knew it would eventually come. If they hadn’t been on the World Council’s radar, they certainly were now and there would be retribution for what happened to one of their own. Until that happened, life continued with the same old complicated chaos.
It had been a couple days since Raina’s monthly bleed stopped, but she hadn’t told Kian yet. He probably knew by scent, but he hadn’t mentioned a thing. For the last couple days, his eyes had burned into hers willing her to tell him the news during their evening ritual of tea and desert, but she had kept silent. It could’ve been her secret hope that he was looking forward to it. She could’ve just imagined that he knew, because he was an Alpha, wasn’t he? He would’ve known and he would’ve demanded her to give into him.
All these complicated thoughts circulated her poor brain as she tried desperately to figure out what the best thing to do was. Did she tell him the truth? Would she just appear too desperate?
Sterling had said they could start trying after her bleed, but Raina knew she probably wouldn’t get pregnant until during her heat. She would look too desperate for it… not that she wasn’t already desperate for it, but he didn’t have to know that. It was already embarrassing that her sister and best friend knew it. It was downright humiliating that everybody would hear how about she wanted it when he made her scream out his name until they echoed all the way to town.
This afternoon, she had an appointment with Sterling. Her sister had asked if they started trying yet. Raina had told her that they haven’t and Sterling didn’t look at all happy with that, telling her that they needed to start. Sterling told her that she would be going into heat soon during that timeframe would be the most optimal time to conceive. She warned her though that it was best to start now so their bodies could adjust to the frequency that Raina’s body would demand.
“What do you mean by that?” she had asked, startled by that remark.
Sterling smirked. “It means you’re going to heat for the first, Raina. I don’t think you understand how your body is going to crave it and it’s going to get worse for you since Kian is your actual mate. Heat and a true mate bond that hasn’t been sealed will make your heat ten times worse.”
“Why didn’t you tell me this before?” she gasped in horror.
She shrugged. “You’ve been acting stupid and I didn’t want to give you more of a reason to try to screw this up.”
“So you decided not to tell me that I’m going to be a sex fiend for my entire heat?” she cried out in panic.
“I’ve prescribed you sedatives that’ll you need to take when your heat comes and trust me you’ll know when it does.” Her sister gave her a sly smile, crossing her arms. “But yes, you’ll be a sex fiend. The middle of your heat will be the worst. I’m not saying this scare you. This is reality. You need to start prepping now. Regularly sleeping together will prep you for your heat. You need to tell Kian that you’re done and you’re ready to start.”
Raina’s eyes had widened at that. “Does Kian know about my heat--”
“Oh, he knows,” her sister interrupted. “Sebastian will be taking over when your heat hits to free up Kian. I’ve already prepped Kian with all the details.”
Afterwards, Raina had left her sister’s office at the pack house to wander around the courtyard, gathering her thoughts and she was still there even now. Meri watched from a distance allowing her time by herself. The pack house was pretty much a fortress now especially with the sound of construction in the distance. Kian’s project of erecting walls in place of the fence was well on the way to being complete. At the time, she couldn’t help but be amused when she caught wind of it. She didn’t press Kian about it. She knew he wouldn’t deny the real reason behind it after her defiance that night.
She had ventured into the gardens instead of going upstairs to her suite, keeping visible so Meri could still watch and follow at a distance. She just needed to think… but she didn’t know what to think or do. She had signed up for this and so had Kian. She couldn’t go back on it now especially not after Kian exiled Octavius for daring to attack her. He had time and time again defended her as his choice for his chosen Luna. He had told her countless times why he needed her by his side. It wasn’t like they hadn’t done it already. Granted, they hadn’t done it while she was in heat, but they did do it and it didn’t seem like he was disgusted by her.
He had told her to trust him. She needed to trust him that this was what he wanted… that he wasn’t making a colossal mistake even though she was so sure that he was. She took a deep breath in and out, trying to sort through the thoughts racing through her mind.
Was she ready for Kian to truly know her that way? How would he look at her? Would he see her differently? Sure, they had marathon sex for a night or so, but that was because she provoked him. She realized all the times they had sex was because she had provoked him to react. It was never him actively seeking her out.
Though it had burned her to realize that, she couldn’t deny the truth. He hadn’t touched her at all. It had always been if she had made the first move. It wasn’t because he actually wanted her. If he did, he would’ve continued to have sex with her, but he didn’t. He only did when it was necessary.
This was necessary, she supposed, but this was different too. This was consecutive days strung together of pure sex and no inhibitions. She groaned, shaking her head. How would she not let her emotions get the best of her?
Damn it, she hoped those sedatives Sterling prescribed her were strong, because the last thing she needed was to do something stupid and reveal to him that she was his fated mate. What if she tried to claim him? She would never forgive herself for that.
If she got pregnant during this heat cycle, he wouldn’t have to touch her again until the next time he wanted other children. She would do her duty as he asked her. That was all this was. They were doing it out of obligation for the pack and to get the Elder Council off his back. She would figure out how to deal with him claiming her as a Luna throughout her pregnancy. Maybe, Sterling would have some good ideas on preventing that since she did such a bang up job with this lovely idea. Could she at least figure that out, right?
Kian knew Raina had seen Sterling today. He had also known that she had stopped bleeding for two days and he had been waiting patiently for her to give the green light. He needed Raina to make the first move, because it was important to him to know where she stood in this.
If she didn’t give him the green light soon, he knew he’d have to persuade her. Her heat was going to be hell for the both of them if they didn’t give into it and didn’t prepare. There was no way they were going to escape the pull of it. Sterling had warned him that Raina wouldn’t be able to help herself and neither would he, because they would feel each other’s pleasure, craving, and need through the bond. It would be inescapable and painful to deny what they both needed.
“Nervous?” Sebastian’s voice entered his thoughts.
Kian glanced over to him, realizing he had zoned out when Sebastian was telling him of the progress with the walled perimeter. “No, not nervous,” he told him with a sigh. “I’m not nervous about being with her like that. I’m more concerned if she’s ready for this.”
“She still hasn’t told you?” he assumed correctly.
“You would know if she had.”
He smirked. “I purchased earplugs for a reason.”
Kian frowned, reflecting on the inevitability of her heat and what that would mean for the pack. It was a known fact that when a Luna went through her heat the pack would also get influenced during this timeframe. Ironically, it wasn’t due to a Luna’s heat, but by an Alpha’s aura while responding to his Luna’s heat.
An Alpha’s aura would project through his pack during the time of her heat, forcing the pack as a whole to go through their own heat especially the females. An Alpha’s dominant aura would force females into submission and his need to mate would cause females to submit to the desire to be bred. It was one of the reason why there was a generational rise in pack growth during the times an Alpha bred their Luna. Sterling had already told him that a few females had already conceived this last month.
“I also purchased lotion and tissues,” Sebastian grumbled and Kian frowned in confusion before it dawned on him. “Not everyone is as lucky as you to find your fated mate. With what’s happening with you and Raina, I wonder if my mate is hiding from me.”
“Why would you say that?”
Sebastian shrugged then gave him a wry smile. “It’s better than the alternative of her never showing up. If she is out there and close by then I don’t want to screw up my chances by screwing someone else.”
Kian couldn’t fault him for his logic. He wished he could say that wasn’t a possibility, because why would someone run from their own fated mate. His mind fell on Raina and everything she endured. As much as he loved the progressive approach to modern means, he wondered if it did more hurt than good at times. He sighed, knowing that was tricky slope. Females were now allowed to suppress their scent so their fated mate couldn’t identify them, but females had every right to be in control of their bodies and their lives.
It was only fair and gender equality was something that was needed. They no longer lived in the archaic ways of the old world, which was why it was important for the other packs to know about an alternative way to produce an heir. Perhaps, the packs could unite and force the World Council to welcome more progressive laws and regulations.
“I’m sure she’s out there somewhere,” Kian assured Sebastian as his eyes met his.
His beta chuckled. “If she is doing what Raina is doing, she’s going to be in a world of trouble when I find out. She’ll be locked in my room for days.” He gave Kian a look. “And you better allow me that since you’re going on like a five day marathon of sex so I don’t want to hear it from you if it happens.”
Kian only smirked at that, shaking his head in amusement. He spotted the time, eyeing the clock on his desk. It was about time for his and Raina’s evening ritual. He sighed, wondering if she’d finally tell him that she was done with her bleed.
