Chapter 131: To be Gone
Chapter 131: To be Gone
Sylvia's pov.
Sleep was far away from me the entire night.
On one hand, I wanted to return home and on the other, I would be missing the greatest opportunity to help my mother and to protect my family.
I groaned in despair, plumbing down on my bed and letting my thoughts run wild.
The next morning, I made a bee line to the pack house and it seems they were already ready to leave, “What's going on?” I questioned Micheal who was the first person I bumped into.
A bag in one hand standing by the door with a solemn yet determined expression, “Haven't you heard? We've been called back.”
What are we? Military soldiers?
“Any reason why? I mean there…” I was going to continue when I was interrupted by Isaac walking through the door, a stoic and hardened expression. His eyes icy cold, “You do as you are told.”
That was all he said.
I was beginning to really despise this alpha position of his, and didn't think he was worthy of it in any way.
He disappeared back into the house and I turned my attention on Micheal, “Why the sudden change of heart? We still haven't found Eva, there's a lot going on here that we do not understand, and leaving would be more suspicious to the hunters at this critical moment.”
Micheal only stared at me with the same solemn expression, but behind that interior, I could tell he was strolling as well. He probably thought I was right, but couldn't say it because of Isaac's influence.
Well, it was a good thing the alpha command didn't work on me any longer, but I didn't want to make any hasty decisions yet.
“We don't have a choice, they seem to have already known the location of wolves, and we need to protect our pack as much as possible.”
Know our location?
“What does that mean?”
Micheal sighed, his gaze hardening, “Horres hays pack was attacked?” his voice sounded defeated.
What??
“The hunters got to them, the entire place was ruined, so I heard.”
My heart pounded loudly, so close to my ears at the thought of an attack on a pack. So unexpected, one minute they were living their normal lives, I could only imagine what they went through at that moment.
No wonder Michael's expression had been very expressive the entire time, not because he had any connection with the Horres hay pack, but more because there's a possible chance that our pack was just as vulnerable as any other.
At that moment, all of my thoughts were on my family. If an attack occurred, I should be there to protect them.
But…
“What about the strange things happening here, what about Eva?”
Something is up with the wolves and we were just going to leave them?
Micheal thought about it for a second, “That's not our concern, What's more important is that we are there for our pack when the time comes. These hunters are upping their game, and so should we.”
With that, he dragged his bag to the car waiting in front. The others progressed out after him, and so did Darla, she seemed alright healthy now and I was happy the procedure worked.
But there was no sign of Caleb, I guess he didn't make it.
Prudence and Isaac were the last to step out of the building, “What do you think the hunters here are going to think? They would know something is up if we just left,” I tried to reason with them.
Deep down, I wanted to be done with this place, I wanted to leave, but we couldn't just leave the way the school was now.
“If you wish to stay, you can stay,” Prudence started, “Rest assured, you would be stripped of your membership of our pack, and I'm sure you know the repercussions of that.”
My breath hitched as I bit down on the insides of my cheek real hard, there she went again, threatening me.
“Left to me, it should have been done a long time ago,” she muttered under her breath, but loud enough for everyone to hear.
My blood boiled inside of me and my gaze shifted to the alpha, or more rightly, alpha-to-be.
He wasn't the alpha yet.
“Get your things, you are coming with us,” Isaac concluded, pinning me down with an intense gaze.
I would have thought he of all people would be rather excited to get rid of me, considering that was the one thing he had wanted for a while now.
A sigh escaped my lips, thinking about Dr Maksim and the project. It was something I longed to do, something I longed to complete for the sake of my mother.
I can't just abandon it!!
I shut my eyes tightly praying that all of this would sort itself out one way or another.
Why does life always have to throw the hardest choices my way? I felt like crying, screaming at the top of my lungs because I couldn't decide.
But the one thing that was sure however was that I wanted my family to be safe and to be healthy.
I ran a hand through my long hair, staring at the vehicle as they loaded up, and a defeated sigh escaped my lips. There has to be another way to fix this, to make it work but for now I would have to go with them.
“Hurry up, we don't have all day,” Isaac instructed bitterly, insisting that they wait for me to arrive before they leave.
With that, I made my way back to my room to pack the little I had. It felt surreal that the life I had begun to make here was about to end.
What would they say when we are gone? What would Gary think? Mr stone, Dr Maksim? What about Peggy?
What if she makes the connection which would lead them to the pack?
They were probably going to find out anyway but at least it would have taken them a few more weeks.
What about… Ezekiel?
