Chapter 314

Henry felt pretty helpless about Amelia's nonstop work grind, so he decided to focus on taking care of her daily needs.

"You know," he said, turning his attention to her, "the quickest way to get ahead at work is to jump on tasks. Plus, you're improving so fast. It's great, just don't overdo it. Your health is what matters most."

Amelia nodded enthusiastically, cheering herself on. "It's fine! I'm not a kid anymore. Besides, once this busy period is over, Laura will give me a bonus and some time off. It won't be too hard!"

Back when she was a student, Amelia was always scared of joining the workforce, especially with all those horror stories about bad bosses online.

But working with Laura was different. Laura not only took her out for meals often but also gave her regular bonuses.

Even though Amelia wasn't short on money, being genuinely appreciated felt amazing.

Henry watched her pep herself up and couldn't help but smile.

She was just too adorable.

But happy moments never last long. Henry took a bite of his sandwich and said, "By the way, the company has a business trip coming up. It'll be a long one, about a month or so. Will you be okay alone at home?"

Amelia's face immediately fell.

A whole month apart? They had never been apart for that long since they got together.

She had gotten used to his constant presence. The thought of him leaving was hard to accept.

Still, Amelia forced a smile. "Sure, it'll be a good chance to relax and clear my mind. A lot has happened lately."

How could Henry miss the sadness in her eyes?

Henry knew that if he ignored his girlfriend's feelings and tried to brush this off, he'd feel guilty too.

He gently pulled her into a hug, comforting her. "James probably has issues with me because of the Alexander situation. That's why he's sending me away for so long. But this client is one our team has been working on for a while. I'm the best person to handle it."

Amelia couldn't help but worry even though she knew he'd be fine. "What if you can't complete the task? Will James give you a hard time?"

Henry's tone grew serious. "I can't guarantee anything. It's our first time working with this client. But I'll do my best to finish quickly and come back to you. Plus, I'm taking Mark with me. It'll be fine, okay?"

Amelia looked at him with big, concerned eyes, biting her lip, clearly wanting to say something.

Henry chuckled. "Just say it. You don't need to hide your feelings from me, Amelia."

After a few seconds of silence, Amelia spoke up. "I just think, since you're so restricted at the Anderson Group, why not start your own company? You have the connections and the expertise."

Henry paused, gazing at her with a thoughtful smile.

Amelia quickly explained, "I'm not trying to control you or interfere with your decisions. I just think James sending you on this trip is a sign. If he keeps making things difficult for you, it'll be too late to make plans then. I don't want you to be held back. You deserve a better future."

Henry let out a low laugh. "I know you're looking out for me. How could I not appreciate that? Don't worry, give me some time to think it over. I'll come up with a plan."

In reality, he yearned to break free from the Anderson Group's control. For years, he had to tiptoe around the Anderson Family, barely daring to breathe too loudly.

Back then, he had no choice but to endure the humiliation. Now, he was ready to spread his wings and soar.

A couple should discuss things together and move forward hand in hand.

Seeing Henry seriously consider her proposal, Amelia felt a warm glow in her heart.

As a child, watching Ethan and Grace in their discussions, Amelia always felt that was far from her own experiences.

She never expected to find herself in the same role as Grace so soon, as a supportive partner.

That day, Amelia had an unusually heavy workload and even forgot about Henry's departure for the airport.

When she finally had a moment to check her phone, Henry was already in another city.

It was their first time being apart for such an extended trip since they became a couple, and Amelia hadn't even seen him off at the airport.

Feeling a bit upset, she quickly called him.

The phone rang for several seconds before he answered. The background noise suggested he hadn't reached his hotel yet. "Finished with work?"

Amelia felt a bit embarrassed and mumbled, "I'm sorry, I was so busy. I didn't get a chance to see you off at the airport."

Hearing her voice, Henry's mood lifted. "That just means you were really focused. Besides, you were tired last night. It's good you got some rest today."

Amelia's face turned from apologetic to shy in an instant as she glanced around nervously. "What are you talking about!"

Last night, she had planned to go to bed early, but Henry, knowing they wouldn't see each other for a while, had convinced her to make love several times.

And he had even tried out a few new positions he had learned from who knows where.

Amelia had been left a puddle of exhaustion on the bed, scarcely able to move.

Just as she thought it was over and tried to crawl away, he had pulled her back for more!

Oh my god! How did Henry have so much stamina?

As the steamy memories flashed through her mind, Amelia hurried to change the subject. "Didn't the branch office send someone to pick you up? Why are you waiting alone?"

Henry glanced at the people nearby. "They're here. I just wanted to chat with you."

Suddenly, Mark's cheerful voice came through the phone. "Amelia! Don't worry! I'll keep a close eye on Henry! I won't let him misbehave! Your love is protected by me."

Henry pushed him aside, exasperated. "Go away."

Amelia couldn't help but laugh. With Mark around, she didn't have to worry about Henry being bored on his trip.
