Chapter 45: A Different Approach

Pov Change

Tracy was glad when Sam finally agreed to turn around. She'd rather not take many risks anymore. This was insane. She couldn't be the only one to see this right? Okay maybe playing along had been their best option in the beginning. What about now though? Who were they supposed to turn to? What were they supposed to do? Vivian didn't seem entirely reasonable anymore. She probably wouldn't listen even if Alex was the one to present it.

Hell what if she had been planning their demises anyways? It's not like Vivian had given them any resources to work with. They'd basically been stuck in here with nothing but fear, a ghost, and the remains of a very coldcase. Maybe in this case it was best to let it stay that way. If only there was a way to cut off her connections or her powers or get rid of her for a decent amount of time. Maybe even potentially take her down once and for all. Vivian still had unfinished business here on this plain though. Would it really work? Could she even truly be put to rest with that weight over her? Tracy doubted it really.

As they got closer to Beatrice's room Tracy watched Sams footsteps spread up which meant they weren't quiet anymore. She supposed they didn't need to be quiet if they were intending to lock themselves in there until everyone got back though. Did they?

Pov Change

Alex looked up as he heard the door open his eyes locking on Tracy and Sam. He was relieved to see that they were here and in tact. He'd been worried that Vivian might try something or send Julia to do her dirty work. So relieved was probably an understatement. Still he probably would've hugged them or asked where they'd gone if Eliza hadn't spoken up first.

"You know it's not wise to just go off without warning the others right?" Eliza's voice rang out before anyone else could speak. She knew she was the new one here at least in their group. But she'd been in this house before. She knew how it worked. She knew better than they did just what Vivian could do. She still had nightmares of what she'd seen her group suffer through. And she wasn't about to let it happen to these teens.

"I got tired of waiting while everyone else wandered on their own," somehow Sam didn't miss a beat. He just met her gaze calm and focused before settling into the bed just as Alex went to pace. He wished the other wouldn't waste his energy doing something so frivolous. They'd need everyone at their semi best to do anything about their situation.

Pov Change

Courtney regretted leaving the others. She looked over at Luke who'd fallen silent at her suggestions of trying to fight back. But she was set on trying to find a way. She hoped the others would be too. Maybe if she helped in this they could make it out and she wouldn't have stopped a potential mistake for nothing. But this was all hopes, ifs, and maybes. Which she knew wasn't a lot to work on. However now that she'd calmed down, she really wanted to go back to the others and try to fix all this. She was the reason things were messed up now anyways.
