Nowhere To Run
Nowhere To Run
She'd retreated to her basement. There was no way those kids were getting away. They belonged in her trophy case. They belonged down here with the others. It made sense to her or at least a part of her. Somewhere in the back of her mind she kept thinking This is wrong. You need to let them go before you get worse. But it was like all reason had gone flying out the window. Her mind was just a jumble of chaos and she couldn't think straight.
Vivian was fairly certain she hadn't meant to hurt them. There was this voice in the back of her mind that kept telling her otherwise. She'd been here stuck as a spectre for over fifty years and maybe it was driving her mad. She just needed everything to be quiet. Her mind and the world around her just needed to shut down and give her a minute.
Pov Change
Sam staggered behind Alex still stunned by what happened. He had a headache now but he was mostly okay. Alex just wanted to get them somewhere to rest and think for a second. But that might be hard with Vivian so... angry, crazed. Alex didn't know anymore.
They ducked into beatrices room, Alex immediately moving to close the door, not that that could help. It provided the illusion of safety more than anything else. But for now that was enough.
"What now?" Luke sat down at the vanity his gaze flickering between everyone.
“Maybe we should try to find another way out. One Vivian doesn't know,” Courtney suggested. Things had gotten far more dangerous and she didn't want to risk it.
“And if that doesn't work? We would have wasted our time and effort for nothing,” Luke reasoned. He didn't see the point. They'd tried finding a way out already with no luck and it most likely hadn't changed.
“Alex what do you think?” Tracy agreed with Courtney's idea but she wanted to know his opinion. They rarely asked him what he was thinking or bothered with getting his opinions on a plan. They usually thought things out without consulting him and he just got stuck following a plan he didn't help make.
“Honestly… I think we need a way out. We can't stay here another week. She's changed not just on the outside,” he took a second to think of how he could phrase it without sounding crazy, “The Vivian we saw when we got here… She's been driven crazy by the decades she spent here. We night just have to if we want to make it out alive.”
“Is that what that weird freak show in the living room was?” Courtney leaned against the wall confused. She knew something was wrong with Vivian but she didn't quite get it. Alex must have sensed something off or something of that sort. All she got was a half-hearted shrug as Alex sat down on the bed next to Sam keeping an eye on him. She knew he wasn’t in the mood to talk so she just pulled Luke with her to search for another way out.
