Chapter 91

Chapter 91

After Michael left my place, I was completely at a loss.

When a man gets ruthless, it's really terrifying. If one day Levi went crazy over another woman and wanted to divorce me, what would that be like?

I'm the type who gives up easily, even when others haven't given up yet. Once I feel unloved, I just pull myself out of it.

So when I found out he was in contact with Jessa, I couldn't accept it and mentally prepared myself for divorce.

Cleo is just too stubborn when it comes to loving Michael. Maybe she's also unwilling to let go. She gave him everything she thought was good, only to get his betrayal in return.

Anyone would find that hard to accept.

There were signs early on, and women's intuition is usually right. She had already sensed his unfaithfulness, but still couldn't handle it when it actually happened.

I gave Indigo a few instructions and headed out. I went back to the office to grab some files and organized a design draft.

I had contacted Elliot in advance. We were meeting today to talk about work, and I'd also give him the jewelry design for his boss at Lumaria.

He had said I'd do the drawings, and once they were finalized, he'd find skilled craftsmen to make them.

When I left the office, I felt my heart rate was unstable, so I called Nola downstairs to give me a ride.

Nola focused on driving, looking a bit unhappy, too.

After hesitating for a few minutes, I decided to talk to her about it.

"Trouble in love?"

"What love? It's gone, I don't love him at all anymore." Nola pouted.

I chuckled, "You two were getting along great just a few days ago. I only had drinks with you guys once - don't tell me I messed things up for you."

"Yes."

"Huh?"

Was this actually related to me? I was perfectly fine that day, didn't embarrass myself drunk or anything.

Nola frowned, "After he found out I'm close with you and Levi, he keeps bugging me to set up a meeting with your husband. I feel like he cares more about your husband."

She made me laugh, "You're not jealous of Levi, are you? Come on, they haven't even met."

"Exactly! That's why he keeps going on about meeting him. He's more excited about that than going on dates with me. He brings it up every time we meet. I don't even want to see him anymore."

"You finally met someone with a compatible personality. Don't let this little thing get you down."

I patted her shoulder, "How about this - once I'm done with this busy period, we'll pick a nice sunny day, I'll bring Levi, and the four of us can hang out."

Nola's eyes lit up instantly, "Wow, you've finally come around! You actually want to go out and have fun?"

"The way you put it - who doesn't know going out is fun? Before, it was because I had a family, kids, and work."

"Quick, quick, take out your phone and send me a voice message. Repeat what you just said so I have proof, in case you back out later."

I was speechless. Am I really that unreliable?

If it wasn't for her being bothered about John wanting to meet Levi, I wouldn't have bothered organizing any gathering. I haven't even brought Levi to any of my friend gatherings before.

We soon arrived at the meeting place I'd arranged with Elliot. Nola said she'd wait downstairs - it wasn't convenient for her to come up.

This time it wasn't a coffee shop, but a tea restaurant.

The environment here was relatively quiet, with private rooms.

I found the right spot according to the address he sent me. Standing at the door, I could hear someone else talking inside.

"Sorry, I'm late."

I pushed the door open and saw Elliot chatting and laughing, and sitting next to him was actually Michael!

"Not late at all."

Elliot stood up to welcome me and asked me to sit down.

"Michael asked to meet me to discuss something. I figured since we're all alumni, you wouldn't mind, right? If you do mind, we can talk separately."

Honestly, if he had plans with me, he shouldn't have scheduled someone else, or at least staggered the timing.

And he was meeting with Michael to discuss things - were they that close?

Just being alumni shouldn't make them this familiar.

"It's fine, I don't mind."

Michael had just left my place, kicked out by Levi, no less. Now that I was showing up here, we both felt a bit awkward.

"Let me introduce you - this is Ms. Ember, also from our school. She's a few years younger than you."

Elliot introduced me to him, not knowing we already knew each other.

"If I don't divorce my wife, she'd be my sister-in-law."

Michael was straightforward, not hiding that we knew each other.

"I forgot about that connection."

Elliot knew Levi was my husband, so knowing this relationship wasn't hard. Clearly, he was pretending.

"No matter. I came today to give you reports on some recent company situations. I hope you can rest assured - we're always working hard to help the company grow."

I briefly explained my purpose for coming. With Michael here, it wasn't convenient to go into detail.

Elliot took the documents and put them all in his briefcase.

"The company has always recognized your abilities. I won't look at them now."

I smiled, "Mr. Sullivan should still look them over carefully when you get back."

"Okay, okay."

Our conversation became formal. We had already gotten somewhat familiar, but suddenly became stiff again.

"The design drawings are in there, too. If you have any suggestions or comments, we can discuss them over the phone."

Elliot nodded, "Okay."

"What design? Is it a trade secret?" Michael suddenly asked.

"No, it's just a gift for my boss. His daughter is getting married soon, so I asked Ms. Ember to design some jewelry."

Michael looked at me sideways, "You actually know how to design?"

I really didn't want to talk much with him. I'm part of the Morgan family - I should firmly stand on Cleo's side and keep my distance from him.

"A little bit."

Elliot said cheerfully, "Ms. Ember is very modest. My boss really likes her designs and specifically asked if she could design some things for his daughter."

"Ms. Ember?"

Was Michael's understanding of me still stuck at me being Levi's secretary? They seemed to be on good terms - hadn't Elliot mentioned me to him?

"Yes, she's the CEO of Heartstrings Jewelry."

I couldn't stop Elliot from talking. He just exposed my identity like that. But Michael and the Morgan family were probably going to draw clear boundaries anyway, so they wouldn't talk about this publicly, right?

Whether they did or not didn't matter anymore. Everyone would find out sooner or later.

"Heartstrings Jewelry is her company? Doesn't it belong to the Skye family daughter?"

Elliot nodded repeatedly, "I really admire her. Running a company like that is really impressive."

Michael looked at me differently now. I'd always kept a low profile in the Morgan family. Before, my focus was entirely on home, just working as a secretary, assisting Levi.

So when he heard that Heartstrings Jewelry was my company, his surprise was understandable.

This city is still too small. I never expected these two to know each other.
