Chapter 173
Levi and John drank until very late.
Nola and I talked in the room for a long time.
Just before going to sleep, Elliot sent me a message asking if I would attend the class reunion tomorrow.
Nola said if I went, she would go with me.
I decided to go, purely to say some things to him face-to-face.
I guessed that even if I didn't go tomorrow, Elliot would still find me to explain about Ava in person.
So, to enjoy my vacation without worries, I would go meet him.
Nola and I woke up early. After washing up, Nola opened my closet.
"Blair, let me see if there's anything suitable for me. This outfit I'm wearing is too casual, not right for a party."
"Sure, pick whatever you want, as long as you like it."
I wore my usual coat. I'd never attended any class reunions over the years. I'd heard from Nola before that they'd organized two or three.
But I had already become the woman behind Levi, and didn't want to join their gatherings.
"You actually have this piece! This is a limited edition."
I walked over and saw that the price tag was still on.
My closet was full of brand-new clothes, all the latest styles from various brands.
"He must have bought them."
I hadn't opened the closet these past few days. I'd taken out some clothes when I was staying in the guest room before.
The room must have been redecorated these past few days, and all these new clothes were bought by Levi.
"Levi is really so generous. These clothes are so expensive. I couldn't bring myself to buy them all. There are several pieces I looked at that are still sitting in my shopping cart."
Nola looked at them one by one, her eyes sparkling.
"Take whichever ones you like. I can't wear them all anyway, and some aren't really my style. I'm not too fond of the Chanel style."
Ava loved wearing Chanel style the most, so I was a bit put off by it.
"Then I won't hold back. I'll put it on John's tab later, and you can take a big chunk off the rent." Nola happily started trying on clothes.
"If you like them, I'll give them to you. Don't talk about money, it hurts our friendship."
Nola stuck out her tongue. "You're so generous."
"I'll head downstairs first. Pick quickly, or when those two wake up, they'll probably ask us where we're going again."
"Okay."
I closed the door, and the corners of my mouth couldn't help but turn up.
I was always happy when I was with Nola. If we lived together every day, that would be wonderful.
"Mrs. Morgan, it's your day off, and you're up so early."
"Yeah, there's a gathering at noon. Nola and I will be leaving soon. They're not up yet, are they?"
Indigo paused. "Mr. Morgan is up. He said he had something to do and went out."
Levi was already up?
Did he have unlimited energy? He and John drank until the early hours of the morning last night.
"When Nola's husband wakes up later, get him something to eat."
Indigo continued wiping the furniture. "Okay."
......
Elliot organized this gathering. When Nola and I arrived, our classmates were already waiting for us.
As soon as we sat down, Elliot pushed the menu over for us to add dishes. Neither of us added anything.
This restaurant also belonged to John's family. Nola told me quietly that a family dinner had been held here once before.
"Blair, long time no see. You haven't changed at all."
Our class president poured me a glass of water. He sat next to Elliot.
"There are still some changes. We haven't seen each other in so long, there's a sense of novelty."
I nodded to acknowledge him, thanking him for pouring the water.
"I heard Ms. Skye has had double happiness recently. It's been a while."
Elliot stood up and poured Nola a glass of water. "Special circumstances, I wouldn't dare let you drink alcohol, or your husband will come after me, and I'll be in trouble."
Nola smiled. "I drank too much at Blair's house last night. I really shouldn't drink today. You all enjoy yourselves."
The dishes gradually arrived. Just as we started eating, Ava came in.
"Let me introduce everyone. This is my classmate from studying abroad, Ava Davis. She really likes making friends. She asked if she could come hang out with everyone, so I invited her."
"Welcome, welcome."
Everyone warmly welcomed her. Only Nola looked at me and asked quietly, "Blair, why is she here too?"
"It's fine."
I signaled her to wait and see. I didn't know why Elliot would let her come either.
Ava deliberately walked to my side. "Blair, you came too. You don't mind if I sit here, do you?"
The classmate next to me immediately made space. "You know each other? You two sit together then."
"Thank you."
Ava sat down and placed her diamond-studded bag on the table. Everyone's attention immediately focused on her bag. She really was the daughter of a diamond tycoon—this bag was worth a fortune.
Originally, I came today to say something to Elliot, but Ava's arrival made me decide to leave right after we ate.
Nola saw that my expression wasn't good and refilled my hot tea.
"Blair, you can drink alcohol, right? I remember you had some last time."
Ava suddenly asked me. Everyone went quiet and looked at us.
I'd always kept a low profile. Over the years, people rarely paid attention to me, but Ava knowing me sparked everyone's curiosity.
"Nola just said we drank too much last night."
Ava picked up the wine bottle, grabbed a glass, and poured. Then she pushed the glass in front of me.
"Last night was last night, today is today. You wouldn't refuse to give me face, would you?"
She used this provocation tactic well, putting me in a difficult position.
"Blair, have a little at least. You're not pregnant. We haven't seen each other in so long, we should have a proper drink."
The speaker was a female classmate who had been very active in school.
"Blair isn't married yet, right?"
"Hey, your information is a bit outdated. I heard she got married and has been taking care of her husband and children all these years."
"No way, after graduation, there was no news about her. I thought she also went abroad to continue her studies."
Everyone discussed me with various speculations that left me unsure whether to laugh or cry.
Nola took the wine glass from in front of me. "She can't hold her liquor; she's a lightweight. I'll do it, but you can't keep making me drink."
At the critical moment, Nola stepped in to help. She spoke directly, so it was hard for everyone to make things difficult for her.
"How bold. Too bad you met Blair first, otherwise our relationship might have been deeper." Ava said this deliberately.
Nola didn't give her any face at all.
"That's not possible. Everyone knew in school that I was very exclusive, which is why my performance has been so poor all these years. Otherwise, I would have expanded the company's business abroad long ago."
This was quite sharp, meaning Ava shouldn't try to get close.
Ava raised her glass and drank it all. "Elliot, your friends are laughable."
"We are human here. You should use the word 'humorous.' What does laughable mean?"
Nola challenged her directly, leaving her no way out...
