Chapter 155

Chapter 155

Indigo helped me back to my room, and I curled up on the bed, exhausted both physically and mentally.

My stomach didn't hurt as much anymore. I had originally planned to take a short nap and go back to the office to continue working in the afternoon.

But thinking of Indigo's advice and the baby in my belly, I wavered. Maybe I shouldn't push myself to go to work.

Faye's enthusiasm for Joseph far exceeded my expectations. I thought she was just talking casually, but she actually went and confessed her feelings to him.

I asked Sophia to keep her company more. After all, she's still young and innocent - I didn't want her to get too hurt.

Sophia took the day off because she hadn't gotten any rest.

People are selfish. For their own sake, they'll hurt others intentionally or not.

I believe Faye didn't mean to hurt me, but the things she said really stabbed me in the heart.

The more I thought about it, the angrier I got. I closed my eyes, and all the unpleasant things from these past days came flooding back. I went through them one by one, and gradually fell asleep.

When I woke up again, it was already dark.

There wasn't a trace of light in the room. The lights from outside cast in, but everything still looked dim and gray.

I fumbled for my phone. The moment I turned it on, the bright light hurt my eyes.

I opened my messages. Everything was fine in the company group chat. Faye had sent me two apologetic messages, but I didn't want to read them and deleted them all.

I know what it feels like to like someone. She likes Joseph, so she confessed. Even though he rejected her, she still wants to try.

Just like how I love Levi. Even though he's been cold to me all these years, I've silently endured it.

Without thinking, I opened my social media feed.

As I scrolled down, I suddenly came across Ava's post.

She had posted a photo with Levi, with the caption: [Finally waited for you.]

The background was at the company. I zoomed in on the picture - Levi had his official smile, and Ava was deliberately leaning close to him.

So, Levi was back.

He had returned to the company.

He had returned to the company and seen Ava.

My brain processed this information.

I looked more carefully and saw that Ava was wearing the same outfit she said she'd give me that day. So she had known all along that he was coming back today.

Suddenly I felt excited. Levi would come home tonight, right? What would his reaction be if he saw me wearing the same outfit?

I sat up and got out of bed eagerly, taking out the Chanel-style suit Ava had given me from the closet.

I usually dress very casually at home and never wear such formal clothes.

When I turned on the light, I looked really beautiful in the mirror.

I'll compliment myself just this once.

When I went downstairs, Faye and Sophia looked at me with surprised eyes, and Indigo couldn't help staring at me too.

"Blair, I was worried you were still angry, but I see you've calmed down - you're dressed so beautifully," Faye praised me.

Sophia chimed in, "Blair, you look absolutely stunning. I've always said if you dressed up seriously, you'd be amazing."

"Thanks for the compliments."

I was really happy inside. Levi was coming back, and they all thought I looked good. At least he shouldn't think I look bad.

Indigo came closer. "Mrs. Morgan, is your stomach feeling better?"

"Yes, it's fine now."

I leaned close to Indigo's ear and whispered, "He's back from his business trip."

"That's great."

Indigo gave me a knowing look. She must understand why my mood suddenly improved.

"Should we wait for him to eat?"

I shook my head. "I don't know when he'll be back yet. If he's coming home for dinner, he'll let us know in advance. There's probably a lot of work waiting for him at the company, or maybe he has plans with someone else."

After being abroad for so many days, there must be many dinners waiting for him to attend.

"I'll go get the food. You all wash your hands and get ready to eat."

Faye took my arm voluntarily. "Blair, I was too rash about today. I'm sorry, please don't be mad at me anymore."

"It's okay."

I was in a good mood now. Levi was coming back - finally I wouldn't be alone. These past few days had really been driving me crazy.

The holiday was coming soon, and Levi's birthday was approaching too. I touched my belly - I definitely wanted to give him a surprise then.

His photo with Ava made me uncomfortable for a few minutes, but when he gets back, I'll make him explain. This time, even if I have to throw away my pride and act cute, I want the truth.

"Blair, you're dressed so formally - is there some good news?"

I didn't know when Levi would be back. I wanted him to see me in this outfit the first moment he returned, and then I'd ask him directly about his relationship with Ava.

"No."

Faye smiled. "I understand, I understand. Sometimes I just feel like wearing my favorite clothes on a whim."

"Blair, you and Mr. Morgan are such a perfect match," Sophia sighed.

"You're too kind."

Everyone likes to hear compliments. I could barely keep the smile off my face.

The three of us ate and chatted. Maybe because I knew Levi was back, I actually ate two bowls of rice.

Faye was smiling on the surface, but being rejected still hurt. She didn't stay long in the living room and went to rest with Sophia.

I sat on the living room sofa, looking at my phone.

After Indigo finished cleaning the kitchen, she came to keep me company.

"Mrs. Morgan, why don't you go back to your room and lie down? You're pregnant now, and it's not comfortable to rest here."

"It's fine. I'll just wait for him here."

I wanted to see Levi right away. I looked forward to his reaction when he saw me. I decided to let down my guard - I wanted to face him as a wife.

No matter how cold he was, I would be warm tonight.

As soon as he saw me, I'd quickly shift the topic to Ava. I wanted to ask him if he would really marry her.

Indigo kept telling me about pregnancy precautions, and before I knew it, it was ten o'clock.

I saw she was getting sleepy, so I told her to go rest.

When she left, she urged me to wait in my room, and I agreed, but I still stayed in the living room.

Minute by minute, hour by hour, I waited alone until the early morning.

Even though I waited with joy, even though I was determined to embrace this night with warmth, I still couldn't work up the courage to call and ask if he was coming home tonight.

I waited and waited, but he never came.

Until two in the morning, I felt a bit nauseous and my body was very tired. I told myself I needed to rest well for the baby's sake and stopped waiting.

I went back to my room and took off the outfit. Like a deflated balloon, I finally stopped struggling.

I put the clothes back in the closet. The moment I closed the door, my heart ached.

I knew he wouldn't be coming home tonight.

Was he still angry about the gift?

Or was his heart no longer with me?

He had returned to the company and taken photos with Ava, but he hadn't contacted me and wouldn't come home.

I wasn't overthinking at all, because I had no idea where Levi was - there wasn't even any room for wild thoughts.

It was ironic. I've never been important from the beginning, have I?
