Chapter 154

Chapter 154

Finn left in anger, Mia said she had plans with friends and left too, and Nola and I kept apologizing.

Joseph said he had company business and left first.

I chatted with Nola and John for a bit, then left as well.

I was distracted the whole way home, with Finn's words still ringing in my ears.

I knew he really meant well for me, but he was just too anxious. Even if Levi and I weren't married, I wouldn't get together with Joseph so quickly when I barely knew him.

Finn was right - with both my parents gone, being with someone as outstanding as Joseph wouldn't be a bad deal for me.

Technically speaking, after I left the Greer family, I really had no background to speak of.

If it weren't for Aiden supporting me all along, Finn probably wouldn't have wanted me to marry Joseph just because of my relationship with Nola.

I understood the stakes involved. All these years, Aiden had given me dignity and made others respect me more.

But I'd never enjoyed any benefits from being "Mrs. Morgan." Instead, not having an official status had caused this whole mess.

When Finn learns the truth someday, he'll definitely think today's situation was ridiculous.

Because I left in such a rush, I'd been thinking about the company and visiting the Skye family this morning and left an important contract at home. Seeing it was almost noon, I decided to just go home to get the documents and have lunch while I was at it.

When I got home, I found that Sophia hadn't gone to work today.

Indigo had made lunch just for her, but luckily there was enough for three or four people, so no extra dishes were needed.

After I washed my hands and came out, I saw Sophia editing a message.

"Don't wait for me, eat first."

"I should wait for you."

I started eating, and only then did she start eating too.

Sophia seemed like she wanted to say something. After a few bites, she spoke up.

"Blair, I think I need to tell you something."

"Go ahead."

I waited attentively.

"Faye made a lunch date with that handsome guy who had dinner with you the other day."

My hand froze in mid-air. I pulled it back and put down my utensils.

"She used your name to ask him out, saying you wanted to have lunch with him, then she went to meet him."

This was just ridiculous. I was really amazed by Faye's behavior - I'd just turned him down, and now she was asking him out to lunch?

This was crazy...

Seeing my expression change, Sophia quickly explained, "Blair, don't blame her. I'm not trying to gossip, I just felt this was something you needed to know, to avoid any unnecessary misunderstandings."

"Sophia, you did the right thing. Now that I know what really happened, I can figure out how to handle it."

If she hadn't told me, I'd be completely in the dark, and I'd lose all face with Joseph.

"Faye really likes him. She talked about him all last night."

I'd completely lost my appetite, totally annoyed by what Faye had done.

"Does he really look like her idol? I've seen the postcard, and they don't look alike."

Sophia smiled slightly, "Blair, maybe it's just a feeling. Honestly, that guy is really handsome, comparable to Mr. Morgan."

Comparable to Levi?

In my mind, no one in the world was more handsome than Levi. I guess that's what they mean by beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

But inviting Joseph to lunch using my name was just too outrageous!

"Sophia, take your time eating. I'm going to rest for a bit."

"Blair, please don't be angry, and please don't tell her I told you."

I nodded, "Don't worry, I won't say anything."

I'd just walked to the living room when Faye came back in a huff. For a moment, I didn't know whether to stay or go.

"Blair, you're back..."

Faye greeted me dejectedly. Hearing her voice, Sophia put down her utensils and walked toward us.

"Yeah, what's wrong? You seem upset?"

I pretended not to know about her lunch date with Joseph. I couldn't betray Sophia, and I didn't want to embarrass Faye.

"That handsome guy who's pursuing you - I asked him to lunch, and he ordered a ton of good food for me."

Faye slumped onto the sofa.

"That sounds nice."

Though I felt uncomfortable inside, I suppressed my emotions. She was just a kid who didn't know better - I told myself not to get angry.

"Blair, I'm the type who loves and hates boldly. I confessed my feelings to him."

Hearing this, my head was about to explode. She was quite like Nola's dad - both had quick tempers, confessing after just one meeting, just like Joseph used to do.

"And then?"

Sophia was too curious and couldn't help asking. She glanced at me and awkwardly lowered her head.

Faye smiled bitterly, "He said he likes you, only you."

"I just don't get it - why is he so hung up on you?"

Faye stared at me, "Blair, he's pretty persistent though. I like that."

I felt like she was contradicting herself - one second calling him stubborn, the next calling it persistence. I guess when you like someone, you keep finding ways to see them in a better light.

"Faye, you're still young. He's even older than me. You always say you want to have fun for a few more years - you two are too different."

"Blair, wanting to have fun for a few years doesn't mean I can't date. I don't care about the age difference."

I knew she wouldn't listen to reason now. There was no point saying more.

"Faye, he rejected you. Pursuing him will be really hard. Why don't you just let it go and think of him as a big brother?"

Faye frowned, "Blair, he only rejected me because of you. Without you, he'd like me."

I had serious doubts about Joseph's feelings for me. He kept saying he'd wait for me, but I didn't believe he'd hold out that long - there were too many variables.

He just got back to the country and said he still liked me. After all these years, I didn't believe he hadn't liked anyone else.

"Blair, why don't you just tell him you're already married to my brother? Then he'll stop pursuing you, and I'll have a better chance. Can you do that?"

Faye acted cute with me like usual, "Blair, please, pretty please? Will you tell him?"

"Faye!"

The anger in my heart completely erupted. I'd been suppressing my emotions all along. From the moment Sophia told me Faye had invited Joseph using my name, I could barely control myself. Now she was asking me to tell Joseph about my marriage - this was hopeless.

If I admitted it and the consequences weren't serious, there'd be no need to hide it. I could have just admitted it openly at the Skye family's place today.

"Blair, don't be angry. I really like him so much. Just tell him, he'll keep it secret."

Her words made my stomach hurt. Suddenly, my stomach really hurt.

I clutched my stomach and sat down. Seeing my pale face, Indigo rushed over anxiously.

"Ma'am, are you okay?"

I felt weak all over and broke out in a cold sweat.

Indigo crouched beside me and reached out to rub my stomach, "Ma'am, try to calm down."

"Blair, don't scare me. I'm sorry, I made you angry..."

Faye kept apologizing, but I just felt worse and worse...
