Chapter 119: The Weird Man

Chapter 119: The Weird Man
Stacy sprinted through the corridors. She didn’t know where to go but she needed to do something to calm her heart. The first place she went was Chad’s room. She pushed it open without knocking. Nobody. She continued running.
Soon, she came to Cecilia’s room. The door was pushed open with a loud bang. Three men were in the room, standing at a corner each. Their eyes widened in shock at her sudden intrusion. She recognized them. They were Hank’s men.
“Did anyone happen to come here recently?” They shook their heads. “There are men outside. Take care of her,” she shouted at them as she rushed to her next destination. Almost immediately, she was running down the corridor again.
BANG! She almost kicked the door down in her hurry. Nelly was pacing around the room when she pushed in. Nelly jumped and screamed. “AAH!” Her hands flailed around before she jumped to a corner, her eyes wide.
“Stacy! You almost scared me to death!” Stacy didn’t bother responding. Instead, she rushed into the room and checked every edge and every corner. “What.. what’s happening?” Nelly stuttered. She could feel anxiety rising again.
Stacy went to the window, opened it, and looked out. The scene outside showed another chaotic fight. Nelly slowly inched to the window. “What’s happening outside?” She looked like she almost cried. The brutal fight just ended. Before she even had time to calm her heart down, another huge fight broke out.
Stacy made sure that the room was safe before holding both her shoulders. “Nelly,” she said, her expression serious, “I’ve checked the room. It’s safe.”
Nelly could only nod. Her heart was beating rapidly and she fought the urge to cry. “I’ll have to make sure that everything’s alright,” she continued, “three experienced men are guarding Cecilia’s room. She’ll be alright. Make sure you don’t take a risk and rush over.” A nod. “When I leave the room, pull your bed over and block the door. Can you do that?” Nelly’s eyes went to the bed.
“Can you do that?” Stacy repeated. Nelly nodded. “Make sure you lock the door and block it. Hide by the window and observe if anyone is trying to climb in.”
That made her heart skip a beat. She felt a chill down her spine. The thought of someone trying to climb into her room through the window was too much.
“Can you do that?” Another nod. “If anyone tried to climb in,” Stacy pulled out a knife and handed it to her. “Try your best to attack him before he climbs in. Don’t worry, Zalen is down there. He won’t let anyone past him. If anyone was to break in, they’ll only come in through the door. But keep watch, just in case.”
After saying that, she rushed out of the room, hoping that Nelly would be alright. Her next concern was Chad. Where in the world was he?
She ran and ran and ran. At one point, she was just kicking down every door she saw. As she went down the stairs, jumping two to three steps at a time in her hurry, she almost ran into a man. It’s a new face, a stranger. He was alone, walking leisurely in the clubhouse like he was taking a stroll in the park.
They were both surprised when they saw each other. However, Stacy’s heart leaped when she looked into his eyes. The man himself didn’t look menacing at all. If anything, he wasn’t even viewed as a threat. It was something about his eyes. Something about it was frightening and she couldn’t point out what.
She walked past him, anticipating him to attack her or at least block her path. However, he didn’t do anything but turned to watch her. His eyes followed her every motion and the action itself caused goosebumps to spread all over her body.
“Hey,” she said, but he didn’t respond. He simply looked at her. Her brows furrowed. “You must be new. Don’t go upstairs now. Come help up front,” she held his arm and pulled him with her. Letting this man upstairs made her feel uneasy. It’s safer to keep him busy in the fight. To her surprise, the man didn’t even react but let her lead him in the opposite direction of his former destination, wherever he was going.
She was starting to think that he really looked like an empty shell. It was as if there wasn’t a soul in his body and he was controlled by someone. The thought once again sent a shiver all over her body. If it’s true, who was behind it?
While she was still trying to think of what to do with him, she ran into Jack downstairs. He was rushing upstairs. “Jack,” she had to call out to get his attention. “Where’s Nelly? Is she alright?” He looked really worried. Stacy’s eyes immediately darted to the weird man in front of her. He was facing Jack so he couldn’t see her.
Stacy shook her head at Jack. Something in her expression caused him to calm down. He immediately changed the topic. “Where are you going?”
“Are you still on duty?” She asked instead. “Actually, yes..” Jack had the decency to look ashamed. Stacy pushed the man to Jack. “Take him.”
“He is?” Jack asked but Stacy took off into the clubhouse. “Hey! What do I do? Where do I take him?” Jack was confused but Stacy was gone. He looked at the man. “Well, hi man,” he greeted but got no response from him.
“What are you doing here? I haven’t seen you around,” he tried to talk to him to figure out what Stacy wanted him to do, but the man remained quiet. He simply looked at him. His stare soon made Jack uncomfortable. “Well..” he turned around and looked at the chaos outside, “let’s just get out there.”
When he turned around, the man was gone. “Oh, shit. Where’s he?”
He looked around but he wasn’t there.
“This is bad,” Jack mumbled as he jogged into the clubhouse.
