Chapter 106: Their Fairytales

Chapter 106: Their Fairytales
“Fairies?” Jack’s brows furrowed in confusion. The topic changed too soon, he couldn’t get a hang of it. Nelly nodded excitedly. “Why do you ask?”
“I remember meeting a fairy in the forest,” she leaned in closer and whispered. Jack was absolutely dumbfounded. “Really?” Nelly shrugged. “I’m not sure. My memory said so. But it’s against the law of nature. I’m not sure if fairies really exist.”
He thought that the fact they found their way back to each other after all these years was a miracle so huge, nothing could beat it. But Nelly destroyed his values using a simple question. He sighed and shook his head. It’s Nelly after all.
“I’m not sure if they exist since I’ve never seen one. What does it look like?”
Nelly shook her head. “I don’t really remember but I found him in the bushes.”
Jack was even more dumbfounded. “What’s he doing? And how did you know that he’s a fairy?” Could it be that she mistaken him for a fairy?
“He was crying and I shared my lollipop,” she said. “Do you remember what you said to him?” She shook her head. “What makes you think that he’s a fairy?”
“He should be one, right? He asked me what I wanted. I said I want to go home and the next moment, I hear my family’s voice. When I turned, he disappeared. No one can disappear so fast,” she explained her analysis of the situation.
Jack didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “I really want to know what’s inside your head,” he mumbled humorously. She caught a remnant of it. “My head? What about it?” Jack chuckled. “Nothing,” he gestured at the lollipop she’s been holding, “try it and see if it still tastes the same.”
“But I’m going to sleep soon. I should control my sugar intake,” she eyed the lollipop with apparent yearning. “Then, put it aside for later,” he took it from her hand and placed it on the table beside her bed. “Sleep,” he said, “I’ll take out the trash.”
She remained unmoving, her round eyes fixated on him. “What?” Jack said with a chuckle. She simply shook her head. Jack grabbed the blanket and threw it over her.
“Rest. Everything will be fine,” he said gently as he looked at her. Nelly’s heart skipped a beat. It’s rare he showed this side of him. Why did the action cause her heart to leap? She closed her eyes quickly. ‘Must be the sugar,’ she told herself.

Stacy tightened her arms around Chad as they rode. She couldn’t wipe the giddy smile off her face. “Is it fun?” His voice broke through the sound of the wind. “Yes, this is amazing!” She shouted back against the wind.
Chad revved the bike and increased speed. Stacy yelped excitedly as they sped down the road. That was the first time she went on a ride after waking up.
Soon, she found herself standing beside Chad by a river. They stood in silence as they enjoyed the sound of the stream with the ambience of nature.
“Where does the water flow to?” The question popped up in her mind after watching the water flowing in a direction for some time. “The sea, probably,” Chad replied with a smile. “This place is near the sea?” Stacy’s eyes widened in what was perceived as excitement. “I won’t say near, but if you go up the mountain, you can see it.”
“Let’s go up the mountain sometimes,” she suggested excitedly. “I won’t say it’s a good idea,” Chad shook his head, “it’s hard to escape when you are on the mountain. We still have enemies hiding in the dark and waiting for an attack.”
“And it’s a good idea to come here?” She raised a brow at him. “Are we on a secret mission of luring the enemy out or something?”
Chad chuckled. “No, we’re not,” he inched closer to her and hugged her from the back, watching their reflection in the water. “I want to show you this place. It’s my sanctuary. I often come here when I’m down or stressed.”
Stacy stared at their reflection in the water, seeing how he was also looking at it. “I can see why you like it here. It’s calming. You have such a good secret place.”
“I won’t say it’s a secret place but now, it’s ours,” he planted a kiss on her cheek at the end of the sentence.
A warm feeling settled in her heart. She could live in that moment forever. Just an hour ago, she was doubting their relationship in Nelly’s room. But the moment they shared right then was legit. It’s special and exclusive. She smiled at him. They didn’t need the affirmation of their relationship. They didn’t need such a sense of ritual as making it official. They were official.
“Is there anything you want to ask me?” Chad asked out of a sudden. “I don’t. Is there anything you want to tell me?” That made him chuckle. “Always the smart mouth.” He rested his chin on her shoulder and they basked in the moment.
“So?” She asked after a while. “Hmm?” “The question?”
“I heard what you said in Nelly’s room when she asked you about us,” he said. She turned around and hit him playfully. “So you could hear us after all!”
He simply smirked at her. “Yes,” he didn’t bother to deny. “What else did you hear?”
He narrowed his eyes as he pretended to think. “Hmm.. all of it. The normal ones.. the doubtful ones..,” and he leaned in to whisper in her ear, “and the naughty ones.”
Heat creeped up her face. “I don’t know what you are saying.”
His smirk widened. “You don’t? Do I need to remind you of it?” His breath brushed her ear dangerously, sending a shiver down her spine.
“We’re outside, Chad!” She exclaimed in a panic. Watching her fret, he let out a low laugh. “Does it mean that we can do it when we are inside?”
“Chad!”
His laugh echoed in the trees as he pulled her closer, tilting his head up to rest his chin on her head.
“What does it take to make it official for you?”
