Chapter 104: The Door has Ears

Chapter 104: The Door has Ears
Stacy’s brows furrowed as she concentrated on Nelly’s words. After vomiting words, Nelly paused. She held her breath as she looked at Stacy, waiting for her to erupt and scream at her but it never happened. She waited and waited but Stacy’s expression remained the same.
Outside their door, Chad’s hand was in the air, preparing to knock when Jack appeared. He tiptoed to Chad while putting his index finger to his lips. Chad opened both his palms, showing a gesture while mouthing ‘WTF?’
Jack’s brows furrowed as he swatted the air beside Chad. Then, he leaned forward to place his ear to the door. Chad frowned at him. ‘What are you doing?’ He whispered. Jack placed his finger to his lips again. ‘Shh,’ he pointed at the door.
Just when Nelly thought that she had been stunned motionless, Stacy’s mouth opened. “What?” She snapped, causing Nelly to jump. “I’m sorry. You can scold me. Or.. maybe.. you can hit me,” she closed her eyes, “do it!”
Jack’s eyes widened, catching Chad’s interest. ‘What?’ He whispered. ‘Shh! Listen,’ Jack whispered back. ‘I won’t eavesdrop,’ Chad folded his arms as he stood proud.
“For what?” Stacy’s pitch went an octave higher, suggesting that she found the whole situation ridiculous. It was so loud, the sound went to Chad who was one step away from the door. In a swift motion, he stepped forward and placed his ear to the door.
It was almost comical, two big men squeezing in the small space. Men passing by either looked with rounded eyes or shook their heads. Nelly’s door officially became a magnet for ears that day.
Nelly opened an eye to peek. “To vent your anger?”
“And why exactly am I supposed to be angry?”
“Because.. I..,” Nelly couldn’t process her reaction, “aren’t you and Chad a thing?”
“Yes,” the word came out too fast. “No, um.. yes. I mean, I don’t know,” it was Stacy’s turn to stutter. This made Nelly utterly confused. Their situation was exactly like a bird trying to talk to a duck.
“Actually, maybe, but we have never talked about it, like regarding what our relationship is, or make it official,” Stacy explained when she saw the look on Nelly’s face. She nodded slowly as she processed the new information. “But you are acting like you are in a relationship. Doesn’t that come after making the whole thing official?” Nelly scratched her head. She couldn’t understand how it worked.
Stacy studied her. “You are acting the same with Jack. How is it not possible?” Nelly’s face flushed immediately. “What do you mean? There is nothing between us!” She exclaimed a little too loudly.
Jack’s heart twisted at that. He kept his face expressionless as he continued listening. Chad looked over and placed a hand on his shoulder.
“Your reaction said otherwise,” Stacy’s lips curved up. She wriggled her brows before asking, “who do you actually like? Chad or Jack?”
Chad’s brows furrowed while Jack leaned in with immense interest.
“I thought I really appreciate Chad’s charisma,” Nelly’s voice trailed off.
“That’s appreciation. It’s different. Do you feel that way about Jack?”
Nelly gave it a thought. “Well, no. I think that he’s annoying at times.”
Chad sighed as he placed his hand on Jack’s shoulder again. Double kill.
“Hmm.. to like someone is like..,” Stacy thought of how she felt around Chad. “Random thoughts of that person pop up at different times of the day. Does it happen with Chad?” Nelly shook her head. “What about Jack?” Silence.
“Actually, he always popped up out of nowhere at random times of the day, reminding me that he exists,” the comment made Stacy laugh. Her smile faded out as Nelly’s face fell. “But we fell out. I said something I shouldn’t and he is now avoiding me. He never pops up around me anymore.”
“Do you miss him?” “To be honest, yes. But I don’t know what to do. I told him to stay away from me and he did. I can’t just go and ask why he’s not here.”
“Right, back to your fight earlier. What’s all that about? Both of you were acting all lovely in the workshop when I last saw you,” Stacy crossed her arms in front of her as she waited for the response.
Nelly lowered her head. “Actually, it started that time,” her voice was small as she said it. “I freaked out when I woke up..” Stacy leaned forward in interest but Nelly stopped there. “What? Why do you freak out? Are you like.. on his bed or something?” Nelly shook her head. “Worse.”
“On his bed, naked?” Stacy probed, causing Nelly to flush a darker shade. Her eyes widened as she swatted her shoulder. “NO!”
“Then?” Her eyes widened as she pushed. Nelly hid her face behind both her hands. “Don’t keep me hanging, gurl!” Stacy laughed as Nelly moved a finger to peek. “I was lying on..” Just when Stacy was excited, Nelly planted her face in the pillow. “God! I can’t do this!” Her scream was muffled. “Oh, I swear to God, Nelly,” Stacy stood with her knees on the bed and slapped her ass, causing her to yelp.
“Are you lying on him or something?”
“Yes.”
Silence. “And?” Stacy broke it. “I freaked out,” Nelly’s voice softened when she said it. “Seriously?” Stacy deadpanned. “Yes!” Nelly exclaimed, causing Stacy to face palm herself. “You woke up on top of him, wearing your clothes and not on his bed, and you freaked out?”
Chad was giving Jack some knowing looks. Jack avoided eye contact at all costs.
“Have you ever had sex?” Nelly asked out of a sudden, her face void of emotions.
Stacy, who was balancing herself at the edge of the bed, mistook a step and rolled to the floor. “Woah, careful!” Nelly stood up in surprise.
“Don’t sneak attack on me like that, would you?” She climbed back to the bed while holding her back. “I didn’t touch you,” Nelly said innocently.
Stacy rolled her eyes. “I lost my memories, remember?” “Oh, yes. Sorry!”
Stacy shook her head in disbelief. “You look like a virgin but you talk about sex like it’s a daily routine. After freaking out about waking up on top of a clothed man at that.” Nelly reddened up again. “Ah.. I don’t mean.. It’s a natural process, isn’t it?”
“Yes, but..” Stacy tried to protest but Nelly continued on, “just like animals mating. It’s science! The sperm is supposed to fuse with the ovum to..” “Stap!” Stacy screeched. Nelly’s mouth snapped shut. “Yes, it’s science. There’s also the physical part.”
Nelly looked at her with rounded eyes. “How do you think the sperm finds the ovum?” Stacy sighed as she threw the question.
Bam! Something fell on the door, causing the two to look over with wide eyes.
