Chapter 102: James Loses His Temper

Chapter 102: James Loses His Temper

Mia walked into the room. The curtains were closed and it was dark inside.

Instead of using the light switch, she walked over herself and pulled the curtains open.

Sunlight broke through the clouds and poured in, falling on her.

She stood quietly in the sunlight, tilting her head slightly up toward the light.

The early morning sun was still a bit harsh on her eyes.

Mia didn't look away.

Her body slowly warmed up in the gentle sunshine.

See, the sunlight is so good.

The darkness will eventually pass.

Mia, you can do this!

James came upstairs looking for Mia. When he opened the door, this was the scene he saw.

He didn't know if it was the sunlight being too bright, or just his imagination.

But seeing this scene made him incredibly nervous.

In that moment, he had this feeling that Mia would completely disappear from his world.

"Mia!"

His heart racing with panic, he rushed over, trying to grab her.

He caught nothing but air.

Mia stepped aside, looking at him calmly.

Only then did James realize he'd been imagining things.

Mia was still standing right there in front of him.

James looked at Mia - her eyes red and swollen, her face pale and haggard.

His heart was full of regret, his expression careful and cautious.

He apologized to her with guilt and sincerity, "Mia, I'm sorry."

Using the excuse he'd prepared downstairs, he pushed down his guilt and tried to explain, to cover up, "I drank too much last night and slept at Louis's place, that's why I didn't come home."

He didn't dare tell Mia where he actually slept last night.

For the first time, like a coward, he just wanted to avoid it.

He tried every way he could to hide what happened last night.

He really did know now that he'd been wrong.

He also clearly understood how deeply Mia minded Amelia's existence.

If she didn't really mind, she wouldn't have gotten sick over it.

He knew his previous thinking had been completely wrong, how much of a jerk he'd been.

He also knew what he should do now.

From now on, he would love her and the baby with all his heart, and would never do anything to make her uncomfortable again.

As long as she could forgive him and not leave him.

Mia looked calmly at James as he lied to her.

She, who couldn't stand deception the most, surprisingly didn't explode in anger.

So this is what it feels like to be completely disappointed in someone.

She didn't say anything, just started walking, step by step closing the distance between her and James.

James didn't know what Mia was going to do. He stood there, his body tense with guilt.

His eyes stayed on her face, trying to read something from her expression.

But there was nothing.

Until Mia stood in front of him and suddenly reached out, quickly pulling open his robe.

She used a lot of force.

The robe slid right off his shoulder, exposing most of his back.

After pulling it open, Mia let go and stepped back a few steps, her gaze cold as she looked past James at the mirror behind him.

She thought she could face this calmly, but seeing those kiss marks again, Mia's heart still clenched. She quickly looked away, refusing to look a second time.

James instantly realized what was happening.

When he changed clothes, he'd only noticed there were no marks on his front, forgetting about his back.

He slowly turned around to look at the vanity mirror behind him.

When he saw the obvious kiss marks, his mind went blank. All those excuses he'd prepared downstairs - he couldn't use a single one now.

"James, you're disgusting."

So disgusting it made her sick!

"Mia..."

His lies exposed, James was left with nothing but panic.

He desperately wanted to explain his position to her, but as soon as he opened his mouth, Mia cut him off coldly, "James, get out. I don't want to see you."

Just looking at him made her feel sick!

It made her think of those kiss marks on his body.

How passionate they must have been last night to leave so many kiss marks on his back.

Just thinking about that scene made her want to throw up!

James's lips moved. Seeing that Mia was only telling him to leave and not saying anything else, he swallowed his words back down.

Going along with her wishes, he turned and left the master bedroom.

Standing at the door, James looked at the closed bedroom door.

At least Mia just didn't want to see him and asked him to leave - she hadn't mentioned divorce.

In that moment when she pulled open his robe, he'd been so scared that after exposing his lie, Mia would say: James, let's get divorced.

As long as she didn't have thoughts of divorce, he would prove to Mia through his actions that he really knew he was wrong and would really change.

Mia would slowly forgive him.

James called the servants back, then changed his clothes and drove to the company.

...

James arrived at the 32nd floor from the direct elevator, carrying an intimidating coldness. Passing by the break room, his steps suddenly stopped.

An employee outside saw him and was about to speak, but one cold glance from him scared them into silence.

Today's James was terrifying.

They shrank back, quickly leaving the area.

Protect your life, stay away from the eye of the tornado.

The gossiping employees inside didn't know disaster was coming, still excitedly chatting.

"Mr. Smith hasn't come in yet today, and I heard from downstairs that Ms. Martinez hasn't come either."

"No way! They're both not here - could it be that last night they had a passionate night together and are too tired..."

James suddenly lifted his leg and kicked the break room door hard.

The sudden loud noise scared the two female employees who were gossiping. They looked back to see James standing at the door, his face dark, radiating an intimidating coldness.

Both of them were so startled they dropped their coffee cups.

The freshly made coffee splashed hot water on their legs, but they didn't dare move.

Their faces went pale, their lips moved for a long time trying to speak, but under James's death stare they could barely breathe, unable to say anything.

"Aaron."

James's voice was cold enough to form icicles.

Hearing his name called, Aaron quickly walked over.

"Notify HR. Fire them."

He coldly withdrew his gaze and looked around expressionlessly, "Remember, the Smith Group doesn't keep loose-lipped gossips."

After speaking, his eyes returned to Aaron, "Follow me in."

After James and Aaron disappeared from everyone's sight, no one paid attention to the two who'd been fired.

Everyone looked at each other.

What was James doing?

Before, when rumors about the two of them were spreading everywhere, hadn't James basically accepted them?

But James's angry reaction just now didn't look like he was upset about his private affairs being discussed.

It looked more like he was furious about being falsely accused and having lies spread about him and Amelia.

While everyone was guessing what their relationship really was, James gave them an answer.

On the Smith Group's official website, a new job posting appeared: Hiring Marketing Department Manager.

...

In the afternoon, Mia wasn't in a good mood and didn't drive herself.

She called a car service and went to a law firm that specialized in divorce cases.
