Chapter 31: Handsome Guys Should Not Be Wasted
“Ow!” Kenn slammed on his brakes suddenly, causing my forehead to hit the back of his helmet. “What is wrong with you? If you want to stop, say so. It hurts, you know!” I complained irritably while rubbing my still-throbbing forehead.
“When are you getting off?” Kenn asked flatly.
I rubbed both of my eyes, then only realized that we had already arrived in front of my house.
So, I fell asleep? Since when?
I scratched the back of my neck while asking myself.
“Are you getting off by yourself or do you need me to drag you?” Kenn’s tone began to rise.
I clicked my tongue and hurriedly got off his big motorcycle with difficulty. If there were another option, I would not have ridden with him. He was already annoying, and on top of that, bad-tempered.
I took off his helmet and handed it back roughly. “Here’s your helmet. Now just go far away.”
Instead of leaving, he got off his motorcycle and stared at me sharply. “Are you chasing me away?”
“Yes, I’m chasing you away. Why? Can’t accept it?” I shot back challengingly.
I could get angry too. How nice of him, ordering me around and getting angry for no reason since earlier. Who does he think he is?
“Oh, so you think I want to stay with you for a long time? With a perverted, short, and lazy girl like you?”
“Lazy?” I frowned. Oh God, why did I end up asking that?
“What do you call sleeping on a motorcycle in the rain? If one of my hands hadn’t been holding you, do you know what would have happened?” Strangely, I only stayed silent and blinked slowly. “You would have fallen, idiot!” Kenn shouted loudly, making me yelp in shock.
He stepped closer, anger blazing in his eyes. Fear immediately swept over me. I stepped back again and again, following his movement as he kept advancing.
“I told you the truth, you are a source of bad luck. I am always unlucky whenever I am near you. You bring bad luck. You … argh!” Kenn ruffled his hair in frustration.
My brow furrowed. Why was he the one who was angry? Shouldn’t it have been me?
Strange. Who was being insulted, and who was the one getting angry?
Could it be that he was possessed? Ah, impossible. No demon would want to enter his body. Even the devil would run away first.
Or maybe….
“Did you run out of your medicine?” I asked confidently.
“What did you say?” his anger grew even more.
“Am I wrong?” I asked innocently.
“You really—”
“Oh, there’s a guest.” Suddenly, Grandma’s voice cut off Kenn’s words. Her eyes immediately lit up when she saw him.
I was doomed. One problem was not even finished, and another one arrived.
I rolled my eyes lazily. Grandma briefly shot a sharp look at me, then her smile instantly bloomed when she turned to Kenn.
“You must be Frel’s friend. Oh my, you’re very handsome,” she said while caressing Kenn’s cheek.
Kenn froze, gaping. I wanted to laugh out loud at his expression, but I held it back with all my might so I would not get pinched by Grandma.
“He’s not my friend, Grandma. Just let him go.”
“No way. A handsome guy like this must not be wasted,” Grandma replied while glaring at me.
Kenn looked even more confused.
“Come on inside first. Everyone at Mr. Mamat’s stall is already staring at us,” she continued.
Grandma pulled Kenn by the hand into the house while continuing to examine him. I could only sneer at her relapse in behavior.
My feelings told me this was going to be a long one. Grandma would never let Kenn go just like that. When things got like this, it was not only Kenn who would be unlucky, I would also get the repercussions several times over.
“My husband, hurry over here. We have a guest,” Grandma shouted excitedly.
The bedroom door opened in a rush and Grandpa appeared with a bright face. “Yes, my wife. Who is the guest?” he asked enthusiastically.
That was how my grandparents were. Even though they were both old, they still called each other my wife and my husband, with a tone that was slightly over the top.
“This is Frel’s friend. Handsome, right?”
“Yes, handsome. My wife really knows how to judge people’s looks,” Grandpa replied with a laugh.
Whether it was praise or sarcasm, Grandma was not bothered at all. She even smiled sweetly.
This was my family. This small house was only occupied by the three of us. No one else. That was enough for me. But make no mistake, even though there were only three people living here, the noise was no less than a house with ten people in it. Especially Grandma, she was the most boisterous and always created a ruckus every single day.
Meanwhile, Kenn just stood stiffly with an awkward smile, facing Grandma, whose behavior was like that of a teenager.
Grandma was always like this whenever she met a handsome guy. Regardless of age, her attitude immediately became clingy like a postage stamp. Grandpa, as usual, only laughed at her antics.
“Haatchi, huaatchi.”
It seemed the heavy rain earlier was starting to take its toll. I rubbed my nose, then sneezed again. “Huaatchi.”
Strange. Kenn was only wearing a thin T-shirt and was perfectly fine, while I, who was wearing a jacket, was the one starting to catch the flu.
They immediately turned to look at me. Grandpa quickly headed to the kitchen to prepare some warm water. Grandma went back to busily clinging affectionately to Kenn’s arm. I let out a resigned sigh and went into the bathroom to take a shower.
I could still hear Grandma calling out, “Frel, hurry up with your shower. Don’t forget to prepare warm water for our guest too. Get the medicine, snacks as well.”
See? If he was here, my bad luck really did multiply. I was the one with the flu, but why was Kenn the one being told to take medicine?
