Chapter 27: The Plan Begins
“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaa…!” Dara and I screamed at the top of our lungs the moment we entered the room.
I reflexively rubbed my chest, which was pounding violently, nearly leaping out from the shock.
Tomi was truly outrageous. He had deliberately waited for us behind the door while wearing a Ghostface mask that covered his entire face.
Who would not be terrified seeing a mask that frightening?
Every time I saw the Ghostface mask, my mind always went to the horror film Scream, about a killer who used that mask to conceal his identity every time he acted.
Earlier, I had even thought that we were about to become the next victims. Good grief, please do not let that happen.
Instead of feeling guilty, Tomi burst out laughing. He clutched his stomach while bending over, his shoulders shaking violently from his explosive laughter.
Dara, of course, did not stay silent. With an annoyed expression, she immediately started hitting Tomi with the small bag she was carrying, as if she had superhuman strength. I was sure Dara’s strength was enough to teach Tomi a proper lesson.
I chose to be a spectator, occasionally laughing as I watched Tomi desperately try to avoid Dara’s punches, using both hands as a shield. Unfortunately, his efforts always failed.
“Ouch, that hurts!”
“You think this is funny, huh? We almost had a heart attack because of your stunt, and you still have the nerve to laugh?” Dara snapped.
“Yes, sorry. I was just joking. Ouch, stop it, Dara. My hair will get ruined,” Tomi complained in panic when his hair became the target of her pulling.
“I do not care!”
Suddenly, Tomi ran toward me and hid behind my body. Every time Dara prepared to throw a punch, Tomi quickly grabbed both of my shoulders and directed me to follow the movement of Dara’s hands. As a result, it was not Tomi who got hit, but me.
All those blows landed squarely on my shoulders. At the worst moment, Dara accidentally grabbed my hair, thinking it was Tomi’s. I was sure my hair was a complete mess now, tangled like knotted threads.
Damn it.
I really felt like mincing the two of them and handing them over to Chef Indra in the kitchen, letting him fry them and turn them into food for my cat at home.
I took a deep breath, then shouted with all my strength, “STOP!” My voice rang sharply, loud enough to shatter anyone’s eardrums.
Dara and Tomi instantly covered their ears. Even if they suddenly went deaf, I did not care. They were the ones fighting, yet I was the one becoming the victim.
“Sorry, Frel. I did not mean to. This is all Tomi’s fault. If he had not dodged earlier, my punch would not have hit you,” Dara said quickly.
“Of course I dodged. You were trying to hit me,” Tomi protested.
I did not care who was at fault. The point was, I was the victim of this chaos. Annoyed, I slipped off my favorite pair of sneakers. Just as I was about to throw one, the two of them had already run off, circling the large table in the room.
“Where do you think you are going? You think you can just run away like that. Especially you, Dara. Get back here!” I shouted, raising the shoe high.
Dara ran after Tomi as he circled the large round table in the middle of the room.
“Wait, Frel,” Dara pleaded, raising her hand in a stop gesture. “You are not going to ruin the plan I made, right? Please, be angry later. Do not get mad yet.”
As if anyone could be told to postpone being angry. This was not a soap opera that could simply continue the next day.
“Oh, so you are telling me not to be angry?” I asked sharply. Dara nodded enthusiastically. “Fine. But I will hit you first.”
We ran around the table. When I saw Dara standing right in front of me, with only the table between us, I took aim. When the timing felt right, I hurled my shoe with all my strength.
But my luck was truly terrible. Dara ducked to avoid it, and my shoe flew through the air, hitting someone who had just entered the room.
That person was Kenn.
We froze. A few seconds passed, our mouths hanging open. At least Dara’s and mine. Tomi, meanwhile, had already stepped forward and patted Kenn on the shoulder.
“Wow, I did not expect you to come,” Tomi said casually.
Kenn merely glanced at him before fixing us with a sharp gaze. That look seemed to suit his appearance perfectly. Jeans, a leather jacket, and a white V neck T shirt that fit snugly against his body highlighted his athletic build. Simple, yet somehow undeniably appealing. His spiky hair added a masculine edge to his features.
He looked completely different outside of school.
For some reason, for the first time, I admitted that this annoying guy was actually handsome and captivating.
“Whose is this?” Kenn asked, lifting my shoe.
Earlier, he had reflexively caught it as it flew toward him.
I began to feel uneasy. To hide it, I pretended to fix my still messy hair. Luckily, my hair was straight, so I could easily tidy it with my fingers.
Kenn raised one eyebrow when he noticed that I was wearing only one shoe.
“Atomic Peanut, can you explain this?”
Damn it. This was exactly why I wanted to throw him into the sea. Not a single sweet word ever came out of his mouth.
“That is … my shoe,” I answered nervously.
Without any expression, he tossed the shoe right in front of me. I muttered under my breath as I bent down to put it back on.
Seeing his attitude, I immediately took back my earlier admission. Handsome or not, he was still annoying.
“Since everyone is here, please sit down and enjoy the dishes,” Tomi said cheerfully.
Whenever it came to his family’s restaurant, Tomi’s confidence was never half hearted. It was only natural. The food here truly deserved praise. Everything was delicious and exploded with flavor. No wonder the restaurant employed skilled chefs who were graduates of prestigious culinary schools. Guests even had to make reservations in advance.
Oh my goodness. Why was Dara’s mouth hanging open like the mouth of a cave?
She only snapped out of it after I lightly tapped her lips. Dara blinked a few times, then swiftly pulled out a chair for Kenn, smiling sweetly.
Should not the one pulling out the chair be the guy? Why was this the other way around?
Ugh, Dara was embarrassing herself.
Seeing her behavior, Tomi could only hold back his laughter. He pulled me to sit beside him, as if reminding me that the original plan still had to be carried out.
