Chapter 170: A Miracle

Do you believe in God’s miracles? Honestly, in the past, I never believed in such things. I always thought that miracles were only meant for certain people, and I was not one of them.

However, I was wrong. Everything I had thought all this time was completely wrong.

One day, I dreamed of meeting my grandfather and grandmother. We were in a place that was very quiet and unfamiliar, yet it felt so peaceful. I was lying between the two of them, resting my head on my grandmother’s lap, while my grandfather gently massaged my legs.

We talked about many things. More precisely, I was the one who kept asking them questions.

“The door at home is broken again. Every time it’s opened, it makes a very loud noise like usual. Grandpa said he wanted to fix it, but why hasn’t it been done until now?”

“Now Grandpa can’t do it. Ask Kenn for help. He’s a good boy,” Grandpa replied while continuing to gently massage my legs.

“Why did Grandpa and Grandma only come now?” I closed my eyes tightly, trying to hold back the tears that were starting to well up. “Do you know that so many secrets were revealed after you left? I’m not strong enough to face them. For me, everything happened too suddenly.”

“Wasn’t that what you wanted, Frel? To meet your parents?” Grandma responded while stroking my hair.

“But this isn’t the ending I wanted, Grandma,” I replied in a suddenly hoarse voice. I changed my position to sit up. “Even though I finally know who my parents are, I’m faced with a difficult choice. I can’t possibly achieve my own happiness by sacrificing other people’s feelings,” I continued while looking at Grandma with teary eyes.

“Leave everything to the Creator, dear.” Grandpa stroked the back of my head. “Sometimes, what we want is not necessarily good for us. Instead, God gives us what we need, not just what we want.”

I lowered my head, staring at my fingers that were tightly intertwined. “But I can’t take it anymore, Grandpa.”

“You are strong, dear. Frel is a strong child. Believe me, God will not give trials beyond His servant’s ability. God always knows when you have truly reached your limit,” Grandpa explained while still gently stroking my hair.

I turned toward Grandpa, looking into his eyes filled with conviction and warmth.

“No matter how hard you try to stay away, if God wills it to be in your life’s path, in the end you still won’t be able to avoid it.”

Suddenly, an overwhelming sense of guilt attacked me. “Grandpa, Grandma, forgive me. I’m the one who caused your accident.” I cried uncontrollably while covering my face with both hands. “I shouldn’t have been angry with you. I shouldn’t have left the house that afternoon. Forgive me, this is all my fault.”

“You are not at fault, Frel. Stop blaming yourself,” Grandma objected after pulling me into her embrace. “It was indeed time for Grandpa and Grandma to go.”

“Dear, will you promise us something?” Grandpa said.

Hearing that request, I immediately stopped crying and pulled myself away from Grandma’s embrace.

I turned to look at Grandpa. “What promise, Grandpa?”

“Never repeat actions that are forbidden by religion. Never again think about ending your own life, dear.”

“Grandpa, I—”

“In every meeting, there will surely be a parting,” Grandpa interrupted. “When the time comes for us to leave, it may be that God has prepared you to meet your biological family. To meet your father and mother.”

Tears flowed even more heavily down my cheeks. “Grandpa....”

“In life, many people will come and go one after another. So will we. God has determined our fate only up to this point. As for how it happened, that was merely a means. Everything is God’s will, so there is no one to blame.” Grandpa smiled at me. “We once reminded you to spend your youth as long as it does not conflict with the law and religion, didn’t we? Do you still remember?”

I nodded as my sobs grew stronger.

“Therefore, never try to take your own life again, okay? Promise?” Grandpa asked while wiping the tears from my cheeks.

I nodded quickly, then threw myself into Grandpa’s embrace.

“Never feel alone. Grandpa and Grandma have never gone anywhere. We are always close to you and watching over you.”

I nodded again while covering my mouth in Grandpa’s embrace.

“Keep being cheerful, strong, and optimistic. Let go and surrender all your problems to God. Believe that He will always help you get through everything. God never leaves us. Believe in that.”

Grandma, who had been silent all this time, now joined in and hugged me tightly. Time seemed to pass so quickly until a bright light began to shine in the distance.

“It’s time for you to go home, Frel,” Grandma said.

I looked at Grandma in confusion. “Go home to where?”

“Go home, dear. There are still many people waiting for you and caring about you. They all love you sincerely,” Grandpa said with his warm gaze.

“I want to be here with Grandpa and Grandma.”

The two of them shook their heads at the same time, accompanied by the smiles I missed so much.

“Your place is not here, dear. Go home. Meet your father and mother. Erase the resentment and hatred that can destroy you. After all, they are the parents who brought you into this world,” Grandpa said.

I still shook my head because I could not bear to be separated again, but Grandpa kept smiling gently. “Walk straight following that light, and never look back again.”

Although doubt still enveloped my heart, their nods and smiles gave me the strength to move forward without fear. According to their wishes, I took step after step without looking back even once, until I finally merged with the bright light in front of me.

After that, I woke up. One morning, when sunlight penetrated the window glass to my left, exactly five days ago, my eyes slowly opened. All the organs in my body began to move again.

The doctor said that this was a miracle. For more than two weeks, I had been in a coma, and when I regained consciousness, the paralysis I experienced was completely healed.

Yes, this was a miracle given to me by God. More than that, the dream of meeting Grandpa and Grandma was the beginning of a new chapter that I had to go through and complete.

That dream was the greatest miracle for me. There was a small part of my heart that felt free when I woke up. The guilt slowly faded, replaced by new enthusiasm that seeped into my soul.

God, forgive Your servant who is full of sin. I regret trying to end my life. I regret doing deeds that You hate.

I promise that I will never repeat it again, no matter how difficult the problems I face, God.
