Chapter 165: KENN: Realization and Revenge

Kenn’s POV

I thought hard. Why was it that every time I was near her, my emotions always exploded when I saw her careless behavior? Why was she able to make me angry one moment and worried the next? Did I have special feelings for her?

No, that was impossible. Where did that ridiculous thought come from? There was no way I could like a girl as reckless as her. I shook my head hard. However, the more I denied it, the more disturbing those feelings became. I wanted to ignore them, but her image kept lingering in my mind.

I had thought about it again and again, but logic and my heart always went in opposite directions. My mind was stuck. In the end, I cursed myself and tried to distract myself, refusing to examine my feelings any further. Until a few moments later, Tomi and Dara were seen running toward me.

"How is she?" Dara asked in a trembling voice, panting. "Has the doctor come out yet?"

Tomi patted my shoulder, his face pale. "Tell us she’ll be fine, right?"

I stared at the still tightly closed door. "I don’t know yet. We can only wait."

After the door finally opened, we all stepped closer to ask about her condition. The doctor in charge explained that the operation had gone well. However, throughout that day, we were not allowed to visit so that the patient could have complete rest.

I returned to school followed by Tomi and Dara. I walked quickly toward Class XII Science 1 with my jaw clenched tightly, looking for Farah, the cause of all this. Both my hands were tightly clenched, and my emotions surged again. Thinking about that girl made anger strike me mercilessly.

"Where are you going?" Tomi shouted, trying to catch up. "Don’t act rashly!"

"Shut up, both of you," I hissed softly but sharply. "Let me handle this."

Inside her classroom, I shouted in rage. "Farah! Come out now!" I yelled until the entire room fell silent.

I stared sharply at Farah, who had still been joking around with her friends. Her body immediately stiffened, and fear was clearly reflected on her face.

"You ... what are you doing here?" Farah asked haltingly.

Without much talk, I immediately dragged her out of the school. Even though she tried to resist, I was not out of ideas. I threatened her through her father, who worked at my company, and her mother’s café. That settled it.

"You have no right to take me out like this, Kenn!" she screamed hysterically.

"Oh, really?" I sneered coldly. "One phone call from me, and your father will lose his job at my company. Your mother’s café can also be shut down this afternoon. Still want to argue?"

Farah shook her head hard. "No! You can’t do this to me!"

I stared at her sharply. "Now the choice is in your hands. Leave the school, or this very second I will fire your father from his position as a manager at my company and make your mother’s café go bankrupt in an instant."

Still filled with lingering anger, I turned and headed toward the park behind the teachers’ building. I often saw her sitting in the spot where I was sitting now, while looking up and feeling the breeze brush against her face and hair. She also often spent a long time observing the small lake in front of me.

I stretched both my arms along the backrest of the park bench, just like she often did. My eyes closed, and in an instant her image filled my mind. Her cheerful smile greeted my thoughts. At that moment, my eyes opened.

I jolted and a second later pressed my hand to my chest. My heartbeat was truly abnormal, pounding very fast. I frowned, and after a while, I finally realized my feelings.

I loved her. I had fallen in love with that foolish girl. I loved the girl named Frel, the person who never wanted to be called by her full name.

"So this is how it feels," I murmured to the passing wind. "I’ve really gone crazy because of you, Frel."

But strangely, why was I smiling when I realized that truth? I didn’t even feel any regret. I still didn’t know when I had started to love her. But for sure, I had begun to realize that something in me had changed since I got to know her.

Suddenly, the ringtone on my phone jolted me back to awareness. Father. Just as I had expected. I answered the call halfheartedly. As usual, his commanding tone without pleasantries attacked my ears. Father ordered me to fly to Berlin, Germany, that very afternoon. There was a problem at one of our companies there.

"Pack your suitcase. The plane leaves at two in the afternoon." Father’s heavy voice sounded uncompromising.

"This is too sudden. I can’t go now," I protested.

"Don’t argue, or your mother will receive the punishment," he replied coldly.

I growled softly. I didn’t know how many times Father had threatened me in the same way, and how many times he had succeeded in making me submit. I couldn’t move an inch when it involved Mother.

I fell silent, and something seemed to tighten my chest, as if something were gripping me from inside. It made me close my eyes for a moment to try to suppress the sudden surge of emotion.

Slowly, my clenched fists loosened. Then I answered that I agreed to his request.

When I arrived home, I tried to negotiate with Father. I was sure he already knew about what had happened at Airlangga. I felt anxious because Father could revoke Frel’s scholarship or expel her at any time. I would not let that happen.

"Sit down," Father said, pointing to the chair in front of his grand work desk. "Explain the chaos you caused at school before we discuss the Berlin matter."

I loved her. She had now become the most important part of my life after Mother. Therefore, I handed my video recording to Father. I predicted that it would not be easy. Father would not easily follow my wishes even though the evidence was right in front of him. For him, anything that could damage his reputation would be eliminated without hesitation.

"This recording proves nothing," Father remarked after watching the video. "That girl is still a threat to our family’s image."

As expected, my recording was not strong enough to stop his intention. Trying one last speculation, I threatened to cancel my trip to Germany if he did not comply with my wishes.

"If you touch her scholarship or expel her, I will not go. You can handle the problem in Germany by yourself," I threatened in a calm but deadly voice.

Unexpectedly, my threat turned out to be very successful. Father agreed to my request to do nothing to Frel and to keep her scholarship, as long as I managed to resolve the company’s problem in Germany. A deal was made. I agreed to it.

"Fine. That girl is safe as long as you deliver satisfying results in Berlin," Father concluded.
