Chapter 164: KENN: Her Courage, My Worry
Kenn’s POV
The next thing I heard was her scream. She struggled with what little strength she had left, but two other girls immediately came over to cover her mouth and restrain her free hands. I stood frozen, staring at the scene with my jaw clenched tightly.
Akbar joined in as well after receiving orders from Farah. Damn it. This time, they truly restrained all of her movements. I didn’t know what was happening to me, but it felt like my teeth were grinding against each other. My hands clenched tightly from the sudden surge of anger.
No. I was Kenn, a man who never cared about women’s affairs. My original intention here was only to record, nothing more. However, that silent scream made me lose control. I cursed harshly and immediately approached them.
"Stop, or this cockroach will go straight into your uniform!" I said sharply while gripping Farah’s hand tightly, right before that swarm of insects was shoved into the girl’s uniform.
Farah froze, her face full of fear.
"Y-Yes. I... I’ll stop, Kenn," Farah answered haltingly.
I also stopped the three delinquent boys who tried to run away, teaching them another lesson.
"You, don’t ever think about running away from here!"
Once I had stepped in, they shouldn’t expect to leave so easily. However, everything went wrong because of her. Frel, the girl I had helped, instead stopped me when Farah was already in my grasp.
She pulled my hand with the little strength she had left. "Let her go, idiot! You could kill her!"
How could she still defend Farah after what they had done to her? Had she really lost her mind?
My jaw hardened, and my emotions took over again. We argued for a moment until I finally heard her groan.
"Ah!" She screamed in pain.
Reflexively, I turned and released my grip from Farah’s neck.
"Are you okay?"
"I’m fine," she answered briefly.
Who would believe that? I thought even a child wouldn’t be fooled, seeing how the blood was dripping more and more heavily from her palm. Without thinking twice, I pulled her toward the school health room. However, this girl was truly stubborn. Instead of cooperating, she turned around and scolded me.
"Look. Because of you, they escaped. Because of you, I couldn’t get back at Farah. Because of you, I also lost my chance to repay everything she did to me. Are you satisfied now?"
I forced her because I saw that her wound was getting worse. Her face was very pale. I was worried that the wound would get infected.
Alright, I wouldn’t call it worry, I just felt uneasy. The point was, I only wanted to treat her wound.
Once again, she groaned in pain.
"Ah, Kenn! It hurts! You’re pulling my hand too hard." I stopped for a moment. "That guy grabbed my hand too tightly earlier. Now my wrist really hurts."
I could see her wrist starting to turn bluish, and I immediately released her hand slowly.
Unfortunately, she took advantage of that moment to run away. I cursed my own carelessness. She managed to escape without caring about the worrying condition of her wound. Truly stubborn.
Let her run. Let her get back at Farah without caring about her condition. After all, she was nobody to me, I thought at that time.
However, again and again, every time I decided to be indifferent, my conscience said otherwise. In the end, I went back to look for her and didn’t forget to ask Mr. Ahmad for help, just in case something unwanted happened.
Noise came from the crowd in the lower cafeteria, disturbing my hearing. Without thinking much, I immediately ran there. Sure enough, that foolish girl was the cause.
I didn’t know what she had done, but when I arrived at the cafeteria, I saw Farah crouching in fear. My focus was not on Farah, but on her. Her balance was starting to falter. I ran toward her just before she collapsed into my arms.
A mix of panic and fear enveloped me. I didn’t understand what was happening to me. As if without any command, my reflexes worked instantly when I saw her faint. I carried her and ran as fast as I could. I ignored Tomi’s and Dara’s shouts telling me to take her to the school clinic.
"Kenn! Just take her to the clinic!" Tomi shouted, panting as he chased after me.
"Yes, Kenn! It’s closer there!" Dara added with a very worried face.
"Move aside! I know what I’m doing!" I shouted without stopping.
It wasn’t that I refused, but in a situation where she had fainted like that, I was worried her wound was already very serious. For me, the hospital was the most appropriate place to handle her condition.
I took her to the parking lot. Luckily, I had asked for Mr. Ahmad’s car keys. With extreme tension and panic, I drove at high speed. Occasionally, I glanced at her, who was still unconscious in the seat beside me.
"Frel, hold on. Don’t you dare close your eyes for too long," I whispered hoarsely.
Every time a car blocked the road, I honked loudly to make them move aside. To hell with people’s curses at me.
"Move faster, damn it!" I shouted in frustration when a sedan slowed down in front of me.
When we arrived at the hospital, she was immediately handled by the doctors. "Please do your best for her, Doctor. I don’t want even the slightest scar or infection," I said urgently as the nurse pushed her stretcher inside.
"We will do our best. Please wait outside," the doctor replied calmly but firmly.
I deliberately chose a VVIP facility so she could get the best treatment and feel comfortable to speed up her recovery. I had always believed that discomfort in patients would make their emotions unstable and hinder healing. I didn’t want that to happen to her.
I kept pacing back and forth restlessly. Occasionally, I peeked toward the treatment room door. Damn it. I hated feeling this powerless, only able to wait without being able to do anything.
"So long! What are they doing in there?" I muttered while kicking the leg of the waiting chair.
Again and again, I tried to calm my anxiety, but failed. Anger and fear struck at the same time. Stupid girl. Truly stupid. I couldn’t understand her way of thinking. She knew her wound was serious, yet she still prioritized her ego. Careless and stubborn. Did she not think about her own life at all?
"Why did you have to be that reckless, Frel? What was the point of grabbing that shard of glass if it ended up like this?" I hissed softly into the quiet corridor.
I sat down and ruffled my hair in frustration. Suddenly, a series of questions flashed through my mind.
What made me care so much about a girl like her? Since when did these feelings appear? Didn’t I want to get back at her through that video recording?
Then why was I now so worried about her and bringing her to the hospital?
