Chapter 10

Chapter 10
"Where did you get that?" My face hardened and I stood up straighter. Suspicion crept it's way up my spine as I took in the golden rose she held between her fingertips.

"Your mom and I were...very close friends when we were younger. You could even say best friends." She sent a genuine smile my way before dropping the necklace back onto her skin.

I eased down on the bench behind me and stayed taken aback for a few moments before she continued, sitting down beside me.

"We met when my mother was called to participate in a royal meeting. I remember that day clearly just as if it were yesterday, we ran around the castle without a care in the world."

My eyes went up to her's and found them already on me.

"Who knew we would be Queensone-," I abruptly jumped up and cut her off. My eyes flew to our surroundings to see if anyone was around that could've heard her.

No one.. Good.

I took a deep breath and sat back down in the same spot I had been in, Elijah crouching down before us.

"You're ashamed of where you come from?" THe lady aske and I just shook my head.

"That place is not where I'm from. THe land you're standing on is and always will be. That place across the seais not that for me." I gritted out, unconciously tightening my fists up at the mere thought of that place.

"No, my dear. The land whereyour blood is superior is your home and your mother wanted to make sure of that."

My thought process stopped suddenly at her words. I turned my gaze to her and found myself snarling as I responded.

"You mean the blood that cursed me since the day that I was born? The blood that had stalled my childhood and eventully ended it all together? The blood that made it impossible to have any other being in my life but my brother from fear that one day I'd snap? This blood is nothing but evil running through my veins."

"That never stopped us from being friends." Elijah spoke up and I snapped my attention towards him, I was about to respond out of anger when something clicked inside my mind. Something distant in my memory...

His russet brown eyes made me pause for a moment as the memory renewed itself.

Flashback

"Come on Raven! We're gonna miss it!"

My smile widened as I darted down the hallway towards the stairway that led to the ballroom.

"I heard that these things are thrown for people to just dance with each other and find love." He spoke, smiling with two missing front teeth.

"Ew. That's no party I want to go to." I stuck my tongue out and pulled my finger to my mouth, fake gagging.

"That's what I'm saying" Who wants to-,"

His voice was cut off by a tongue clicking to the roof of a mouth.

"Spying on our guests, are we?" My mother's honey colored hair and dark green eyes came into view as we spun around in shock. We instantly dropped our heads in apology.

"Sorry Mrs Occisor, we didn't mean to intrude." Elijah said and she just smiled down at the two of us. Her eyes fell back towards the ballroom before returning to us with one of her hands extending.

"Why don't the two of you join us, hmm?"

End Of Flashback

How..I- What? That's impossible. I remember things from my pasy and I can assure you, you two were never apart of it." I shook it off before standing up on my feet and turning from them in a hurry.

They were lying, tricksters of the mind just like Prince Rhyland.

But the memory...

My mind raced with thousands of different scenerios but not one made sense. I can remember some of the past, but some of it was just a blur, like the pass of time went too quickly for any memory to be stored.

Except Elijah's memory looked so real... The details in my mother's face were so crystal clear that it was impossible for the memory to be fake. They would've had to know what my my mother looked like before she passed away and if it were fake, a detail of her would've been wrong but it wasn't. Maybe they weren't lying.

I quickly pushed my way up the stairs and onto the level of our rooms, hustling towards Cassius' door. I didn't even realise I was mumbling to myself until I bumped right into someone, the force making me stumble backwards.

Two muscular arms gripped around my waist before I hit the ground.

"Woah there." Vibrant purple orbs stared down at me. His gaze moved across my face and his expression instantly morphed into worry.

"What's wrong? Are you alright?" HIs deep voice vibrated through his chest and I found myself noddig quickly.

"Yes, everything is fine I just need to speak with my brither." I moved to walk past him but he stepped infront of my path.

"He's slightly occupied at the moment." His head movement gestured outside and I walked over to the window, finding Cassius walking with non other than the demon spawn herself. Jasmine.

Isn't she your lady? Why allow her to walk around with another man?" His smile peaked out from under his pink plump lips as he chuckled.

"I'd rather be crucified than be the man she ends up with. She's not my type, actually she's quite far from it." He stated and I couldn't stop the question that slipped out of my mouth.

"What is your type then, Prince?" His eyes met mine again and he sent a smirk in my direction. His tongue came out and swept across his lips as if he were contemplating his next words.

"Well, for starters, a woman who speaks her mind. Someone that won't bow to me because of the title I was born into." His bright eyes traveled over my face and I felt my entire body heat up at the simple look.

"Someone who isn't the perfect little house wife, who will put me in my place if needed. Someone I can genuinely spend all day with without hearing about the 'dreaded hair dresser' or a 'new pearl necklace'." He rolled his eyes and I chuckled at his antics.

"Someone like y-,"

"Raven! Can we talk, please?"I jumped at the sound of Elijah's voice. He came into view, his chest rising up and down in short breaths.

"Not right now, I'm sorry." I said, I didn't want to be rude and completely shut them out because there still is a possibility they aren't lying. They could tell me things about my past that I couldnt remember.

I just needed to talk to Cassius first, then I'd talk to them.

"Just hear me out, I swear we aren't-,"

"She said not right now, did she not?" Prince Rhyland cut his piercing eyes towards Elijah.

"Your highness, I mean no disrespect." Elijah stood up straighter as his words left his mouth.

"Then give the lady time. She will get back to you." He assured and Elijah gave me one last look before nodding and turning on his heels.

I breathed out a breath and looked back to Prince Rhyland.

"Thank you.. for that. So what were you saying before?"

He stared down at the ground, not meeting my eyes before shaking his head.

"Nothing, it's not important."

Without a single glance, he turned and walked away in the opposite direction.
