Chapter 221 Book 5: The Greatest Gift Is You

Chapter 221 Book 5: The Greatest Gift Is You
The next morning, Isabella didn’t get a minute of respite after breakfast. She quickly got ready in a beautiful turquoise maxi dress Weston had bought for her. He still insisted that she wear his favorite shade, blue. Isabella didn’t mind. She loved the dress the moment she wore it. Everyone complimented her. Her mom chuckled, knowing that her son could only gift another blue dress to her. The men left to play golf while they all gathered on the large open deck for the bridal shower party. It was a completely unique feeling to be pampered and treated like a princess, and Isabella soon started to enjoy it all. She was showered with gifts and loved every minute of it. Victoria, Christina, Anna Sophia, and Arianna performed for her. Her mom sang her special song that brought tears to her eyes. Her dad recited a poem for her. It was a poem dedicated to a daughter. Isabella hugged her parents and was grateful to have them in her life. For dessert, she was treated to a special sundae, which apparently Weston had prepared for her before leaving with the others. It touched her heart that despite being away, he always left his special touch in his own special way. They all looked at her with jealousy, wishing that their better halves had left such treats for them as well.
“Wow, it’s so romantic, Isabella. He loves you so much. You’re lucky,” said Christina. Isabella smiled as she enjoyed her treat. She knew she was lucky.
Afterwards, they all retired to their rooms to change and relax. Isabella eagerly waited for Weston to return so that they could go on their date as planned. She lay down and waited for him to return. Had he forgotten their date? It was fifteen minutes and there was no sign of him at all.
She was about to give up hope and go off to sleep to rest her tired muscles when the door to her room opened and Weston walked in carrying a bouquet of red roses. She squealed with delight and jumped into his arms. “Wow, thank you so much,” she said, taking the roses from him. “I thought you forgot about our date,” she said, placing the roses in a vase of water.
“No, I didn’t forget. You didn’t ask me why I got you the roses. I think you’re the one who forgot what date it is today,” he told her. Isabella was confused. She did not know what was today.
“It’s the 9th of February. Why? Anything special coming up apart from Valentine’s Day?” she asked cluelessly and thinking hard. Weston didn’t answer.
“Think again,” he just shrugged, going to the washroom to freshen up and then get ready to go out on a date. Isabella thought hard as she picked out her clothes but couldn’t come up with anything. When he emerged, he chuckled, seeing the clueless look on her face.
“Today was the day when we had confessed our love for one another. Remember? In New York? The night before you left me shattered? I sometimes get the feeling that if I spoke to our parents that night, you might not have left me at all,” said Weston. Isabella walked up to him and wrapped her arms around his torso.
“I think what happened was for the best, Weston. Maybe that night, our parents wouldn’t have realized the depth of our love. Maybe it was because of what we went through for one another that our parents accepted our relationship,” she told him and he nodded, thinking about what she said.
“Maybe. So let’s not waste any more time. Let us celebrate the memory of the time we first confessed,” he said excitedly.
“Right, but did you book us tickets?” she asked eagerly. Weston chuckled and just got ready. Isabella wanted to ask so many questions but seeing his reckless mood, she knew he wouldn’t answer her. So she quickly got ready as well.
“Oh, I forgot to inform mom,” said Isabella.
“Don’t worry. I’ve informed her,” said Weston. They left the resort soon and Weston drove her to the Red Rock Theater, which was famous in the whole of Nevada. He had chosen a romantic thriller that took her breath away. It was worth the effort they took. Afterwards, he treated her to the upscale restaurant at the Theater complex.
“We’re going fishing tomorrow,” said Weston as they waited for their order. “Will you come along?” he asked her hopefully.
“No, I hate fishing, but I can prepare your favorite fish dish if you want me to,” said Isabella.
“Here? At the resort?” asked Weston eagerly and Isabella nodded.
“Tomorrow they’ve planned a make your own dish competition. Whoever makes the most delicious dish will win a free stay at the resort for three nights,” said Isabella. Weston looked very much interested.
“Really? Can we cook as a team?” he asked. Isabella nodded, but she knew they didn’t stand a chance next to Hudson and Anna Sophia.
“Fine, let’s do it,” he already looked charged up.
“But you can’t cook,” she protested, making Weston chuckle.
“That was long back, my love. I learned a lot of cooking from Cody’s housekeeper. Remember when Hudson used to cook, and you used to praise his culinary skills?” asked Weston. Isabella nodded with a curious smile on her face.
“I used to get so jealous that I would ask Cody’s housekeeper to teach me to cook. I would return home and make them for mom and you,” he admitted. Isabella grinned, feeling a little more confident about her fiancé.
“Fine then. Let’s make Pecan Crusted Fish tomorrow,” she suggested.
The next morning, just as Weston had said, he caught a huge white fish for her. He went to the supermarket and got all the ingredients for her dish. No one seemed to be as enthusiastic as he was. Easton had a slight fever, and Anna Sophia and Hudson opted out of the event. Arianna was busy with her six-month-old baby and couldn’t find time to make any preparations. Cody and Victoria were hopeless at cooking. Her mom was an excellent cook, but she was too lazy to cook at a resort. She spent her time with her dad at the shopping plaza nearby. So it was just Dave and Christina, Weston and Isabella, Cody’s mom and dad, and a few other relatives of the Grays.
Dave burnt the enchiladas that he was making and so had to start from scratch. He, therefore, couldn’t complete it within the stipulated time. No one had so much preparation as Weston and Isabella. Their food turned out so well that they were clearly chosen as the winners. It was decided that after Weston’s deadlines were met when he gets free, they would come over to spend a few days here. It would be their honeymoon!
They all relished the dish that Isabella and Weston had made. It really was delicious. “I never knew my son could cook so well,” said his mom, looking proud. Even Hudson praised the food. With the wedding the next day, they spent the day lazing around the property. Weston gave her a new heart-shaped silver pendant with his picture engraved on it.
“It’s so pretty,” said Isabella, touching the delicate jewelry. Weston popped the first two buttons of his shirt and showed her a similar pendant hanging around his neck. It had her picture engraved on it.
“Do you like it? I had these specially made for us,” he told her. Isabella touched his pendant as well. They were so overwhelming. Only he could come up with such things.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t get you anything,” she said apologetically.
“You did, Isabella. You gave me yourself. That’s the greatest gift of all. I need nothing else,” he whispered. Isabella was touched, and she pulled him into her arms and kissed him with all her heart and soul.
“Go to sleep early tonight, my love. I want the first look tomorrow right under the gazebo overlooking the river,” he told her.
“Yes, baby. You too sleep. Don’t you need to save your energy for the wedding night tomorrow?” she teased him.
“I’m a powerhouse of energy, my love. Do you need proof?” he asked, his eyes glittering with need.
“Yes, a little proof will do tonight,” she said, making him chuckle. So they made love and lay contented in each other’s arms to sleep, excited to face their special day tomorrow. Their wedding day.
