“You look so perfect,” Tricia said to Isabella as she blushed excitedly, ready for the girls' outing.
As Rachel had also gotten ready, all of them were all set, looking beautiful as they hooked their hands together, having wide smiles on their faces. This was the most peaceful outing they had ever been in a very long time, and they felt so happy.
Even though Isabella had no idea about James's plan for her, she still excitedly went there, only for them to get in front of the restaurant, the building where James was going to propose. Rachel and Tricia immediately let go of Isabella.
She looked at them, confused.
“Aren't we going inside together?” she questioned as Tricia smiled.
“Actually, the place is literally so booked up, so we want to get things ready, and we will let you in in a second,” they said to her.
Isabella felt like something was definitely wrong somewhere. They were not the kind to just abandon her outside, but she decided to wait patiently to see what they wanted to do.
A few minutes later, Tricia quickly rushed toward her and pulled her as they walked in. Isabella walked into the hall, only to see that it was pitch dark; everywhere was dark, and it seemed as though something was off.
She looked at Tricia, but before she could say a word, Tricia let go of her and walked away into the dark too.
She walked in, surprised, only for the lights to come on instantly. She was surprised, not just any type of surprise, but one of the greatest surprises she had ever seen. Everywhere was so well decorated; James had done an awesome job at that place, and it looked amazing.
At the end of the hall was written boldly, “Will you marry me?”
She covered her mouth instantly in shock as James walked out, the ring in a box in his hand, well-dressed in a suit that actually matched Isabella's clothes.
Now she understood the surprise that Tricia and Rachel tried to make for her. Now it all made perfect sense to her. She saw what they were trying to do, and she felt so amazed, but she decided to hold it in.
As she walked in, Tricia and Rachel were already squealing in excitement, waiting for her to say yes. Only for her to see her parents also come out. She was surprised by the number of people she saw, even people from school who were her friends.
Everybody was there to watch her accept James as her lifetime partner, and of course, the cameras were rolling as she was so amazed, unable to hold in her emotions.
Even after everything she had gone through, James still never let go. She never believed it would be James of all people. She expected it to be somebody else and not him. But he still stood by her.
All those things, all those memories, how she acted toward him, but yet he still loved her. Everything came flooding back to her mind as she teared up.
James had already placed one knee on the ground and had opened the ring. It was a diamond, a sparkling diamond, as she smiled and pointed out her hand.
James fixed the ring, and instantly she was engaged. She was actually going to get married to the person who she always thought at first was just a lost cause. Only for her to know that her relationship was going to be more than that.
She hugged him tightly, and of course, everyone was so excited. The party continued after the engagement, only for Isabella to get a text from an unknown number telling her to come outside.
At first, she did not want to go because she felt like it was another problem. After she had just escaped from one, she was about to enter another one. But she had no choice.
After getting the message continuously and the person pleading with her, she came out only to see James and Alex. She was so surprised to see him. He was on probation, not allowed to leave his house. But here he was, standing, only for her to notice the police car at the far corner.
Then James walked toward her as he held her hand.
“I know that Alex did things that you never wanted. I know that he went sideways. But he was the one man who loved you despite your flaws. He only got greedy because he wanted you for himself alone. And that is the reason why he acted the way he did. At least give him a chance to talk to you, to tell you goodbye before you become my wife,” James said.
Isabella, unable to hold back her tears, poured out everything she was holding in, and James consoled her before walking away, leaving her with Alex.
As Alex stood in a far corner, she walked toward him and raised her hand, pretending like she wanted to slap him before putting her hand back down.
“I can't hurt you. After all, you are already living a life of hell on probation,” she said to him as he nodded, a teardrop streaming down his cheeks.
This was the first time she saw Alex this vulnerable. He had always acted like he was this strong person who could never be moved. Even when he was taken to jail, he refused to accept his defeat.
“I am sorry. I am so sorry that I kept you with me. Despite everything, despite what I had done to you, you still did not go against me so badly. It was really nice because I loved you too much. Well, I see that James is the right one for you. I know that I have made a mistake, and I want you to be happy,” Alex said to her.
Then he opened his arms in hopes that she would hug him, and of course, she quickly hugged him tightly.
And that was the last time she saw Alex ever again.
Two months after her engagement, she got married to James. And of course, James never went back to work as a professor because he did not want a job where he would be discriminated against again.
Instead, he opened his own business, and Isabella's life became a peaceful one, something she never expected.
