Chapter 156: When Memory Returns
James’s POV
Meanwhile, Isabella was already conscious, and she asked for James. The doctors immediately checked her vitals and made sure that everything was okay. As they came out of her room, the doctors looked at the nurses that were with them and asked,
"Who should we call? Should we call her family first? Or call the person she requested?"
He asked them as one of the nurses looked at the doctor and said,
"Doctor, I think you should call who she asked for first. Maybe that will boost her recovery faster. If we call her family, she might just fall unconscious again. Let's just give her what she wants. Her asking for that person first means that he is very important to her, and that might help her condition."
She said to the doctor as he agreed with her and said,
"Okay, someone should please check our information and call James over ."
He said to the nurses as he walked out of the hallway. One of the nurses immediately went to the counter and asked for information. Meanwhile, James had already dropped his information at the counter when he first came to the hospital, so that in case she woke up, they should please give him a call. So they immediately called James.
As James was driving into his compound, his phone rang before he could even alight from the car and saw that it was from the hospital. He didn't pick the call.
"Maybe something had happened. Maybe Isabella might have woken up. That's why I remember telling the nurse to call me immediately she regains consciousness. Maybe she actually had regained consciousness out of happiness and overjoy."
Immediately, the call continued.
"Hello, is this Mr. James? We want to inform you that Isabella has regained consciousness, and she wants to speak with you."
The voice said as James didn't even reply. He shouted out of joy and immediately drove out of his compound, parking directly at the hospital. He was really driving at high speed, very eager to see Isabella.
"Did Isabella really wake up? Did she really ask for me? Really? There is Isabella. I really remember him now. I can't believe anything that is happening. I need to see Isabella right now."
He was driving like a maniac, not ready to wait anymore. He just wanted to see Isabella's face and just wanted to be assured that Isabella really remembered him and everything was going to be fine right from now on.
"Isabella really asked for me? Is that true? I can't wait to just see her right now."
As he continued driving recklessly, in a hurry to get to the hospital, immediately he got to the hospital. He parked his car in the parking lot and immediately rushed to Isabella's room. Even the nurse that called out to him, he didn't even answer. He just rushed to Isabella's room.
As he opened the door to her room, he saw that she was drinking water. One of the nurses was attending to her, and she looked up at him. He looked at her also.
"Did she really remember me? Was it that she just called my name out of coincidence? Did she not really remember me? Why is she just staring at me? If she really remembered me, she should have called my name out by now."
As both of them were just there staring at each other, neither of them moving and none of them able to say a word. As the nurse looked at both of them intently, she immediately knew that that was James, the person she had asked for before. She wondered what kind of relationship Isabella and James could really have that made her ask for him as soon as she regained consciousness. There must really be a deep bond between the both of them, the nurse thought to herself as she excused herself from the room.
Meanwhile, James was still standing there, shocked in place, staring at Isabella as Isabella was also staring at him.
"Why is she just staring at me? Did she not remember me anymore? Did she just call my name out of coincidence? I wonder what is running through her head. Isabella, please just tell me you remember me. I can't just wait for you to call out my name again. Please, I just want to be reassured that you've regained your memory."
I kept on thinking to myself. Then I saw her smile at me. I was very happy. My heart jumped for joy.
"Did she really just smile at me? That definitely means that she remembered me," I thought to myself as I smiled back at her.
I immediately rushed to Isabella's side.
"Isabella, finally you are conscious. I've been waiting so long for you. You don't know how much I've cried and begged you to wake up."
As I hugged her, she hugged me back.
"It's fine now, James. Everything's okay now that I'm conscious. I just wanted to see you. That's why I asked the nurses to please call you over."
Isabella said to James as the both of them were so engulfed in their emotions, like it had been years since they'd seen each other.
"You don't know how happy I am seeing you right now. You don't know how happy I am knowing that you are conscious."
"Isabella," James said to her as he held on to her tightly.
"Okay, James, I'm talking off already. Please, will you just release me now?"
"Ah, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I didn't know. I was just too overjoyed. I can't even believe that you are conscious, Isabella, and you actually remembered me. You called for me, right? Right?"
Immediately you regained your consciousness.
"You don't know how happy you have made me, Isabella. You don't know how long I've waited for you to regain your memory and regain consciousness."
James kept on blabbering, not even giving Isabella the chance to say anything.
"I'm so happy, Isabella. Now I'll call your mom and your dad over. I bet they'll be very happy to see you. I know they will be more than happy. They will be much happier than I am right now."
Saying that you are conscious, I will immediately call them over and drink Trisha also.
"I don't know how Trisha will react. Trisha will be very, very happy seeing that you are conscious already."
James said to Isabella as he was about to stand up. Isabella immediately held him back.
"Please, don't, James. Don't call any of them. I don't know how I'll face my parents now that I regained consciousness, and now that I've already regained my memory. I don't know how I'll face my parents. Especially Alex and his sister. I don't know what I'll say to them. Please don't call them over. Please just hold on a little longer. That's why I told the nurses to call you, because I trusted you. I'm very sorry, James, for everything. I'm very sorry that I didn't remember you."
Isabella said, admitting tearfully to James as James just nodded.
"It's fine, Isabella. Everything's going to be okay."
"Please, James, don't call anybody over. I don't know how I'm going to face them. Especially not Alex. I don't know how I'll face him for what I've done wrong to him in the past. Please don't call anyone."
"But why are you even insisting on not telling Alex? Why don't you want Alex to know anything?"
"I know, James, please don't call Alex. I don't know how I'm going to face him. Not even him at all. Please."
"Why? What did Alex do to you?"
James asked Isabella as she just looked at him, stunned. She couldn't even say anything. She just sat there, speechless, as James looked at her, seeing fright written all over her face.
